Zola’s Story

Zola was surrendered to SNAFU Rescue as she was being rehomed to no fault of her own.  Her surrendering family wanted her to be placed in a loving structured home to be spoiled and live out her life as happily as she can be!

Zola is an active, playful, goofy, clumsy, and sweet little Frenchie girl.  Be ready for some indoor playtime and outside backyard time as she has lots of energy to burn! She is curious about the outdoors and will absolutely explore every inch of the yard.    When she has some indoor time she loves to chase after a thrown stuffed squeaky toy, settle in with her beloved Nylabone for a quiet chew session, or even cuddle on the couch when her energy has been spent.  When she isn’t snuggling with her favorite human requesting belly rubs, Zola is requesting walks to show off her mastered leash skills or begging for a car ride to ride shotgun while gazing out the window and seeing all the happenings around her.  Zola adores all people (she is VERY shy when meeting NEW people and often barks at strangers) and desires to be with her trusted people doing whatever they are doing at all times. She positively feeds off their energy and will relax when they relax and will play when they want to play.   Zola can be quite active but don’t be fooled by all her activity… she does have quite a chill side and can be a Frenchie couch potato.  She is a social butterfly, the life of the party, and seems to get along well with every human she meets (big or small) but due to her inability to acclimate quickly to unknown guests, we think she would do best in a home that had children 10 years or older.   Zola does resource guard her high-value items such as toys and bones and will even guard her kennel and the couch.  She recently picked up the bad habit of guarding her humans.  Her bad behavior is immediately corrected and she will need consistent and firm correction when she displays these unwanted behaviors.  Zola requires a family willing to work with her on learning manners, offers her firm and consistent leadership, and will need a family who is willing to spend extra time with her and offer her patience as she acclimates to yet another home. A person/family with experience in dog behavior would be a huge plus to be able to pick up on her body language and immediately correct any bad behavior before it escalates.  She has a few furry siblings in her foster home.  Zola will at times participate in a play session if her foster sister initiates the play but mostly she is very aloof to the presence of any other animal.  Zola will snap/growl if her furry pals are interested in something that she claims to be hers.  If a more dominant dog presents her a challenge she will not back down.  Because of this, Zola would do best in a home with a balanced, passive female dog or equally okay as an only pet.  Slow introductions and supervision around children and other animals are a must to be sure they and she are kept safe.

Zola’s foster family happily reports she is fully potty trained.  A regular and consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training success in her new home.  Zola is crate-trained but will display her displeasure and become very vocal. She prefers not to be crated for long periods and would rather hang out with her people. For her safety, we recommend that she is kept in a similar crating or dog-safe/proof area when her family is away at work or leaves the home. She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home. Zola loves her humans so much that we believe she would like to show off her snuggling abilities and share her human’s bed in her adoptive home.

Medically, Zola seems to be in great health!  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! She does suffer from those pesky Frenchie allergies which can be easily managed with a daily allergy pill in addition to a cytopoint during high allergy season.

Zola would be happiest in a house with a yard (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard).  She adores the outdoors and loves to explore!  She has a voice so a shared-walled home would not be ideal for her.   She DOES do very well with stairs and they do not phase her one bit!  We also think she’d love to eventually go work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office. Zola must understand her boundaries and accept any limitations of the space offered to her in the workplace.  If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem – she’s completely happy sleeping part of the day away in her comfy bed as long as her people can arrange a mid-day potty break for her!  Again, she is a fun, energetic, adorably sweet, very playful yet chill Frenchie who wants to be part of her human’s everyday activities.  She loves to play, run around outdoors, take walks, go on car rides, and explore and investigate what her people might be doing at all times.  Zola is an expert cuddle bug seeking attention and adoration from her loved humans and would love to explore by day and cuddle on the couch by night with her adoptive family.  She requires a home that does not have a revolving door of people in and out, a quieter home where she is not overstimulated, and a family with a comfy couch and a hand willing to offer unlimited belly rubs!  Zola will drop and roll on her back at any given moment and won’t move until she gets those desired belly rubs!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
