Yoshi’s Story

Yoshi came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a rescue to address his cleft palate.  They also wanted him placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Yoshi is a joyful, playful, and utterly charming French Bulldog puppy who lights up every room he enters. True to his puppy spirit, Yoshi is curious about everything — people, dogs, toys, sticks, leaves, rain puddles, sunshine — if it exists, Yoshi is ready to explore it with wide-eyed enthusiasm!

Though he can be a bit quiet and observant at first, it doesn’t take long for Yoshi to reveal his bouncy, fun-loving side. Now in his “teen” puppy months, Yoshi is growing more energetic by the day, ready for playtime, adventures, and plenty of snuggles in between.

Yoshi loves to play with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a playful canine buddy. Wrestling, chasing, nibbling, and zooming around the yard — Yoshi is happiest when he has a furry friend by his side. If no dog is available, don’t worry — Yoshi is just as eager to play with his humans! In his foster home, he’s been known to swipe Hot Wheels cars and Toy Story figures, happily entertaining himself when no one’s watching.

He’s been living with three canine foster siblings and has been polite and respectful even with the grumpy senior dog who doesn’t want to play. Yoshi hasn’t met many cats, but his gentle and curious nature suggests he’d do fine with proper introductions.

Yoshi adores children — their smells, their sticky hands, their fast little legs! However, he’s still a puppy, and his playful nibbles don’t always discriminate between toys, toes, or fingers. Any home with young children will need parents who understand that kids and dogs should never be left unsupervised, especially during these high-energy puppy months. While Yoshi has been great with the little one in his foster home, they do need occasional separation when he gets a little too excited.

Yoshi’s perfect home?

A family ready to embrace the full puppy experience — playtime, training, supervision, and of course, all the love and laughter a Frenchie like Yoshi brings. Whether you have dog-savvy kids, another playful pup, or just lots of time and attention to give, Yoshi is ready to wiggle his way into your life. With patience, gentle guidance, and plenty of play, he’s sure to grow into the most delightful, affectionate companion.

If you’re looking for a joyful, curious, and endlessly entertaining little pal, Yoshi is ready to bounce, snuggle, and charm his way right into your heart!

Yoshi is well on his way to being fully housebroken! This smart, eager little guy has been doing a fantastic job keeping his crate clean, especially when kept on a consistent potty schedule. As long as he’s let outside regularly, Yoshi has had very few accidents in the house lately — though it’s important to expect some setbacks when he transitions to a new home or environment, as is typical with young puppies.

Yoshi sleeps peacefully in his crate at night and is also kenneled during the workday. As long as his crate is covered so he can’t see other pets or people, he settles down quietly. However, if he can see anyone or if he needs to go potty (and foster mom isn’t moving fast enough), Yoshi isn’t shy about letting out a bark or two!

For meals, Yoshi currently eats in his crate — mainly to respect the preferences of the resident dogs in his foster home — though this could easily change in his adoptive home depending on the setup. He’s made excellent progress over the past couple of months, with only the occasional pee accident, and he’s learning quickly with a structured routine and plenty of encouragement.

Like all puppies, Yoshi will need an adopter who is ready to continue working patiently on his potty training, helping him learn to give a clear signal when he needs to go out, and sticking to a consistent schedule. With time, consistency, and gentle guidance, this clever, loving boy will continue to blossom into the amazing companion he’s destined to be!

Medically, Yoshi seems to be in great health.  He has been neutered, nares widended, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, and has been given the okay for adoption by our veterinarian!  Yoshi was born with a cleft palate.  He has since had a successful surgery to correct his cleft palate. While Yoshi has come a long way, he will need ongoing monitoring to ensure his palate remains healthy and free of complications.  This includes regular vet check-ups and keeping an eye out for nasal discharge, sneezing or changes in eating habits. Yoshi eats and drinks normally thanks to the surgical repair!

Yoshi would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard, where his playful, curious spirit and zoomie energy can safely run wild. While he could do okay in a shared-wall home or apartment, it’s important to note that Yoshi can be vocal when excited, so a quieter setup with a private yard would help set him up for success — especially as he continues working on his potty training.

Yoshi is currently living in a foster home with two small children and enjoys both quiet moments and bursts of activity. He’d be happiest in a home with another playful dog, as he loves having a canine buddy to wrestle, chase, and learn from. An active family with multiple people to share the fun — walks, adventures, and snuggles — would be ideal for this affectionate little guy.

While Yoshi hasn’t yet mastered a full set of stairs, he confidently handles a few steps in his foster home and is eager to explore new environments. He’d love the chance to tag along to work or errands, though at this age, he’s likely to be a bit of a (adorable) distraction! With time, maturity, and consistent training, Yoshi has the potential to become a wonderful little office or adventure companion.

Because Yoshi has no concept of danger, he absolutely needs to be kept safely contained when outside — whether in a fenced yard or on a leash. Without those precautions, he’d happily dash into the street or water without a second thought.

Yoshi is incredibly smart, food-motivated, and quick to pick up on routines. He would thrive in a home committed to continuing his training, and he’d likely shine in formal obedience or even trick classes. Most importantly, Yoshi needs an adopter who is fully committed — someone who understands that bringing home a young dog is a lifelong promise, through all the good times and any future challenges, including potential medical needs or behavior changes.

To give Yoshi the most stable, consistent future, we’re looking for a home that’s ready to guide him into adulthood with love, patience, and a firm commitment to being his forever family.

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Yoshi, please submit an adoption application for him today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
