Violet’s Story

Violet came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Violet is a gentle, shy, and incredibly sweet French Bulldog who absolutely lights up in the presence of other dogs. She has a special bond with her furry foster siblings and thrives in their company, constantly playing, following them around, and snuggling close when it’s time to rest. Violet is still learning to trust humans (especially men) and accept affection. Still, her canine companions have become her emotional anchors, helping her feel safe and confident as she navigates this new chapter in her life. She has a soft, timid nature, and while she may be reserved around new people or unfamiliar environments, her foster family has seen her make steady progress each day. From the moment she arrived at her foster home, it was clear Violet’s connection with other dogs would be key to her happiness. She has proven to be incredibly social with her furry friends, showing remarkable adaptability and respect for their space. She’s not one to demand attention from humans and is perfectly content letting her foster siblings soak up the spotlight, graciously allowing them to receive pets while she watches on with quiet curiosity. While she isn’t yet fully comfortable seeking human affection, she has shown subtle signs of learning how to appreciate it, often accepting gentle pets when in the presence of her trusted furry companions. Violet is very gentle by nature and never pushes boundaries with other dogs, making her an ideal companion for a home that already has a well-adjusted dog or two.

Violet’s favorite activities are rooted in her desire to be with her furry friends and relax in peaceful surroundings. She loves to nap on the couch, spending long hours lounging and recharging after a busy morning of yard exploration. She has discovered the pure joy of toys, which is a heartwarming milestone in her journey. Her favorite is a Nylabone Donut that she proudly carries around and chews on for hours. At night, she often brings her plushy toy to bed with her, a sweet sign of her growing comfort in her new life. Her progress with learning pet life doesn’t stop there. She’s becoming more confident in her daily routine, carefully following her foster siblings as they navigate stairs or hop onto the couch. While she’s still figuring some things out, Violet’s willingness to mimic the behavior of her furry friends has made her an eager learner. She does rely heavily on their lead, and this has helped her build trust and become more comfortable in her surroundings. In her adoptive home, Violet would thrive with other dogs who can continue to provide her with the social connection and guidance she craves. She truly blossoms in the presence of other canines and would do best in a home where she has furry companions to continue showing her the ropes. However, due to her prey drive and tendency to chase cats, a home without cats would be ideal for her. She’s respectful of other dogs’ boundaries and shows no signs of jealousy or competition, happily letting her canine friends take center stage while she quietly observes. Though Violet is still adjusting to human affection, she has made tremendous strides in a short period. Due to her overall timid nature, we believe she would do best with calm, dog-savvy children over the age of 12 or equally okay with no children in her adoptive home. She is experiencing a big change, and with the continued patience and understanding of her adoptive family, she will continue to gain confidence and blossom into a wonderful companion. With time, consistency, and the company of dogs she trusts, Violet will surely become a treasured member of her forever home, bringing with her a quiet, calming presence and a deep appreciation for those around her.

Violet’s foster family reports she is still working on potty training but she’s doing very well.  She continues to make progress with a strict and routine outside schedule. It has helped her to have other furry friends for her to follow and mimic desired behaviors like going potty outside. Her adoptive family will need to be patient, willing, and able to keep her on a regular and consistent schedule for her continued potty-training success.  Currently, Violet is let out first thing in the morning, several times throughout the day, and always before bedtime. Violet is crate trained (without accidents if for shorter periods, longer periods she will have an occasional accident) but only for short periods as she does not prefer her crate much. She is trusted in a small space in her foster home and does well. Since Violet is a master snuggler with her furry friends, once she’s comfortable, we know she would love to share her human’s bed at night once she’s fully potty trained and confident in her new home.  For her safety, we recommend a similar arrangement when her humans are away from the home and/or when she is left unsupervised, so she is safe and secure while no one is at home. Violet does not know danger and is still learning how to be a pet.

Medically, Violet seems to be in great health. She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, nares widened, palate shortened, laryngeal sacculectomy, microchipped, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian.  She does suffer from those pesky Frenchie allergies and is offered a daily OTC allergy pull along with cytopoint injections during high allergy months.

Violet is very adaptable, and we think she would do well in almost any type of home but would do best in a house with a fenced yard since she is working on perfecting potty training, is still learning leash skills, and thoroughly likes being outside free to run. Due to her barking at strange unfamiliar noises, we don’t think she is a good dog for a shared-walled or apartment-style home.  Violet mastered the stairs very quickly, so a multi-level home would be okay for her.  Work from home or a stay-at-home parent? Violet would love that!  She adores being around others and doesn’t wander too far from her human and furry pack. We think she would be a good candidate to take to an office environment as being around more and more people will help her confidence!  She is looking for a patient family to call her very own, one that is willing to work with her to learn how to “pet”, one with an overall calm, quiet lifestyle, and one that is home often to offer her unlimited snuggles and potty breaks. Violet is such a sweet and special girl, her beauty instantly grabs the attention of many by the more she trusts the more her amazing personality shines through.  She is a loyal, fun, well-behaved, and sweet girl who would make the most amazing companion to humans and furry friends alike.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
