Turq’s Story

Turq came to SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release.  His breeder wanted him placed in a loving home to live the rest of his life as a cherished pet.

Turq is an outgoing, active, playful, energetic, SUPER social Boston Terrier puppy who enjoys playing with other dogs (big and small), playing and exploring outside, and entertaining himself with a stuffed toy or bone.  After enough activity to wear him out, he is looking for a comfy place to rest and snuggle in.  He has the enthusiasm of a typical puppy for playtime and naptime; an adorable ball of energy who adores the outside when the weather is nice. You can often find him exploring every inch of his foster home, looking for the resident pups to engage in a game of chase or a good game of a gentle wrestling session. If his furry friends are romping around the home showing off their playful nature, that is a cue for Turq to join in!  Turq hasn’t met a human or furry friend that he doesn’t like. He has been very well socialized with humans and dogs through going to work with his foster mom. Turq follows along with whatever his foster dog siblings do. After a fun (and exhausting) play session, Turq will again snuggle up on the couch to recharge for the next play session. For a 4 month old puppy Turq is actually very laid back and chill. Snuggling is one of his most favorite things to do. He does have an inquisitive side. He wants to know where everything is in the home and where noises are coming from so he must be supervised when wandering indoors and outdoors, as he is still a very young dog that doesn’t know danger. He ALWAYS wants to be with his people and other dogs! Turq is just a puppy, is experiencing a big transition, and will need firm leadership, and consistent correction to help him learn proper dog behavior, learn proper dog manners, and know what is expected of him in his adoptive home. He is extremely smart and eager to please his humans so we know he will catch on very quickly! Turq already knows sit and stay!  Turq seems to fall head over paws for every human he meets. His foster family believes he would be best in a home with a playful furry friend (or two) and would do great with kids in the home, or just fine without kids as well. His foster home doesn’t have small children, so he has a preference for adults. As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs AND supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both he and they are kept safe.

Turq is still working on potty training and occasionally has accidents when he is roaming the house. Again, he is a smart puppy and quickly picks up on things, mimics his foster sibling’s behavior, and adapts well to routines.  Turq is still a puppy and as with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with him, offering him a consistent schedule and working with him on a signal for potty/going outside. He does fine in a crate, although he hasn’t spent much time in one, as he goes to work with his foster mom and sleep with her in bed as well. He would love to share a bed with his adoptive family! He is such a snuggle bug and he must be as close as possible to those he loves the most. For his safety, we recommend a similar crating/sleeping schedule be kept for him.

Medically, Turq seems to be in great health.  He has been neutered, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, and has been given the okay for adoption by our veterinarian.

Turq would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard due to his curious, explorative nature and because he is still potty-training (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard). Turq does great with steps in his foster home. He is still a young dog who is still learning boundaries, so he must be supervised while romping around the yard and sunning his Boston buns. Overall, Turq is just the sweetest little love-bug! He enjoys any and all attention, snuggle hour, wrestling sessions, playtime with his furry friends, and all people (big and small). If you’re looking for a dog to go to the office with you Turq is your man. He’s a pro at work as long as his able to be let out frequently. If you are away from your desk Turq has learned to use a potty pad. Ultimately, he is looking for a home that has the time and patience to help guide him into a balanced adult dog, a home with another furry sibling or two and one that isn’t gone long hours as he will need several potty breaks during the day.  Be prepared for the needs and requirements of a young dog; Turq will make it worth it!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
