Tortellini’s Story
Tortellini came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.
Tortellini is a ball of spunk and energy! She fancies the outdoors and will run the Frenchie zoomies all around the yard. Tortellini is extremely curious and takes to exploring the entire house and yard. Tortellini, at first, has quite the shy and timid side. She gets a bit nervous around new people but once she has some time to warm up you wouldn’t know it and she acts like she has yet to meet a stranger! She seems to admire all humans she meets (especially if they are willing to offer her some affection). She is 100% a Velcro Frenchie. This petite little girl wants… really insists on being everywhere her beloved humans are. She follows them like it is her job; wherever they may meander. Tortellini is in tow when her foster family heads for a snack in the kitchen when it is TV time on the couch, and yes even in the walk-in shower! Nothing stops this girl from being close to her people. There is nothing more in this world that she wants than to be with those she adores the most. Even though she has yet to take to toys or bones, Tortellini found the game of chase to be fun! She will chase the human… It is so adorable! When it is time to relax, she will pop up on the couch to snooze away. If no one is available to share the couch with her she is VERY content claiming the comfy surface as her own and napping away! When nap time is over you can find Tortellini searching for some old socks and ultimately sets out to destroy them! She gets her little paws around the socks given to her and she is determined to shred it to pieces! As mentioned, she is curious about the outdoors and will absolutely explore every inch of the yard being sure she is on guard to keep all furry creatures out of her domain! Tortellini’s happy place is outside and will even sun her cute little buns if allowed. Tortellini, after she warms up, is social with all people (big or small). She prefers to be the princess of her palace and has a hard time accepting any other dogs sharing her space or being around her dinner (cats are okay for her). She is a SLOW burn and possibly with VERY slow intros she could cohabitate with a VERY passive dog. Despite her distaste for other dogs sharing her space she really is a kind, sweet and low-maintenance Frenchie. Tortellini has a kind and gentle temperament because of this, we feel she would do best in a home with children of any age. Slow introductions and supervision around children are a must to be sure they and she are kept safe. Tortellini has a history of being a little troublemaker when around other dogs so it is in her best interest to be adopted and remain the only dog/animal in the home, Although she is laid back in general she still requires a family willing to provide her proper boundaries and provide the proper leadership she needs.
Tortellini’s foster family happily reports she is a work in progress. She has come leaps and bounds since she arrived in rescue. She ONLY has accidents if her cues are missed. She will head to the back door when she needs to go. A strict, regular, and consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training success in her new home. Tortellini will indicate she needs to go by waiting at the door to the backyard. She is 100% crate trained and often retreats to her safe space for a nap when feeling sleepy. Tortellini will happily enter the crate for a yummy treat! For her safety, we recommend that she maintain a similar schedule when her adoptive family leaves the home. Since Tortellini Adores her humans so much, we know she would eventually love to share a human bed at night with her adoptive family.
Medically, Tortellini seems to be in great health! She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, nares widened, and heartworm tested, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!
Tortellini would be happiest in a house with a fenced yard due to her adoration for the outdoors (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard). She is overly curious and still learning boundaries. She conquered the stairs and does well going both up and down. An apartment-style home with shared neighbors would not be good for Tortellini as she would not like any encounters with other furry beings. Tortellini would be a good dog to take to the office if she was the only pet allowed in the space. She would gladly cuddle up in a soft bed and snooze the day away. She also would be completely happy sleeping the part-of-day away in her crate as long as her people can arrange a mid-day potty break for her! Tortellini would thrive in a home where she can be the center of attention and the apple (or pasta noodle) of her adoptive family’s eye. She would do great with or without kids and would absolutely LOVE to have a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member. Again, she has such a sweet, loving, and gentle temperament when she is surrounded by those she loves. Tortellini is a really fun, playful ball of energy! She is such an adorable dog that wants to be around her people as as much as she can and be included in most family adventures!

disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
