Toast’s Story

Toast came into the SNAFU Rescue via a private party. Toast needs a home with no small children and they wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Meet Toast — the fun-loving, outgoing Frenchie who brings a whole lot of personality, playful energy, and plenty of sweetness wherever she goes! 💛 Toast is the perfect mix of energetic and laid-back. She’s always up for a good game of tug, a round of fetch, or some enthusiastic wrestling with her canine friends, but she’s just as happy settling in with a favorite chew bone or snuggling up for some downtime. She knows how to have a good time, but she also knows how to relax when the fun is over!

Toast is a social girl who absolutely loves people and is always happy to soak up attention. Whether you’re offering pets, giving belly rubs, or simply including her in whatever you’re doing, Toast is all about being part of the action. She has an outgoing, confident personality and isn’t shy about making the first move when it comes to meeting new friends. She’s a girl who knows what she likes and isn’t afraid to show it!

Speaking of friends, Toast really enjoys the company of other dogs and especially loves playing with other Frenchies. There’s just something about their similar play styles that makes them a perfect match! She is forward but friendly when initiating play and enjoys wrestling, chasing, and generally having a good time with her canine companions. She has shown some selectivity toward certain dogs that are significantly larger than her, sometimes barking persistently, although she has also made friends with a Great Dane! She doesn’t appear to have a preference when it comes to male or female dogs, but compatible personalities and play styles will be important. Toast would be perfectly happy as an only dog, but we think she would really thrive with one or more canine siblings who enjoy playing as much as she does.

When it comes to toys, Toast has a few favorites, and her tennis ball and rope tug toys are at the top of the list! She absolutely loves a good game of fetch or tug and is always ready for a little friendly wrestling match. She’s also discovered the joys of antlers and chew bones, which make excellent entertainment when she’s ready to settle down. This girl has plenty of ways to keep herself busy!

Toast does have a curious side when it comes to cats. She enjoys barking at and chasing them, seemingly more interested in the game than anything else, but a home without cats or other small animals will be the best fit for everyone. She also needs a home without small children. Toast was surrendered following a nip incident when a child unexpectedly startled her. Although the nip did not break skin, we want to be thoughtful about setting her up for success and finding a home where children do not live or regularly visit. A mature, dog-savvy household that understands the importance of respecting her space and allowing her to feel comfortable will be ideal.

Toast knows her basic command of “sit” and can walk on a leash using a harness, although leash manners are still a work in progress. She isn’t particularly enthusiastic about walks just yet, but regular outings, exercise, and opportunities to explore will be important for keeping her happy and healthy. An active family willing to work with her on leash skills while providing plenty of physical exercise and mental enrichment will help bring out the very best in this girl.

Toast would thrive in a home that embraces her playful personality and gives her plenty of opportunities to burn off energy, interact with her people, and enjoy the companionship of other dogs. Frenchie experience is always a plus, and a home with playful, similarly sized canine siblings would be an absolute dream for her. She’s affectionate, social, entertaining, and full of life, with just enough laid-back sweetness to balance out all that playful enthusiasm.

If you’re looking for a fun-loving Frenchie who will happily challenge you to a game of fetch, recruit you for a tug-of-war match, make friends with her favorite canine companions, and then curl up with a good chew bone when the day is done, Toast might just be your perfect match!

Potty Training: Toast is considered housebroken and has done very well with her potty training in foster care, with only one or two accidents. Occasionally, she can get so caught up in playing that she forgets to ask to go outside, so keeping her on a consistent potty schedule and offering regular opportunities to go out will be important. As with any dog transitioning into a new home, adopters should allow her time and patience to adjust to her new surroundings and learn how to communicate her potty needs. With consistency and a little grace during the transition, Toast should continue to do very well!

Crate Training: Toast is crate trained and does very well spending time in her kennel. She sleeps in her crate overnight and stays comfortably kenneled while her foster mom is working. She is generally quiet and relaxed in her crate, although she may occasionally express a little FOMO barking if she can hear activity elsewhere in the house or knows the other dogs are out having fun without her! Her foster routine includes a potty and play break approximately every three hours, which has worked well for her.

Medically, Toast seems to be in great health!  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Toast would thrive in a home that embraces her fun-loving, energetic personality and gives her plenty of opportunities to play, explore, and spend time with her people. She doesn’t need a huge house or a massive yard to be happy, but she does need a family willing to keep her physically and mentally engaged. An active household that enjoys including their dog in everyday activities would be a wonderful fit for this silly, enthusiastic girl.

A securely fenced yard would be a definite bonus for Toast, especially since she absolutely LOVES playing fetch and could happily chase a tennis ball all day if you let her! However, a fenced yard is not a requirement. She could do well in a home without a yard, provided her family makes arrangements for safe opportunities to run and play, such as a private dog park or a Sniffspot. It is a requirement that she is secured with a leash/harness if a fenced-in yard is not available. She does tend to bark when she hears activity outside or when guests arrive, so shared-wall living may not be the best fit. A single-family dwelling would be preferred.

Toast is a social butterfly who loves everyone she meets and can sometimes be a little overzealous with her greetings. She would do well with a single person or a multi-person household, as long as her family enjoys having an enthusiastic little sidekick. Children should be over the age of 12, as Toast needs a home without small children. She would also love having canine companionship, particularly other Frenchies or dogs with a similar size, temperament, and playful style. While she can be selective about certain larger dogs, compatible canine siblings could make her very happy.

Toast would be a wonderful companion for someone who works from home, has the opportunity to take their dog to the office, or has a pet sitter or dog walker available to provide a midday visit. She is crate trained and comfortable spending time on her own, but more than anything, she simply loves being with her people. When the day’s activities are over, Toast transforms into the sweetest snuggle bug. She loves burrowing under the covers by your feet or curling up beside your head, and she would happily make herself your permanent cuddle companion!

This girl has quite a few talents, too! Toast knows sit, lay down, touch, leave it, and drop it, along with a few fun tricks like dance and spin. She is treat motivated and will do just about anything for a tasty reward, especially if fruits or veggies are involved! She rides well in the car, enjoys baths, and tolerates nail trims. She can be a leash puller, so continuing to work on her leash manners will be important.

Toast can manage stairs, although her short little legs sometimes need a little extra consideration, particularly when she’s tired after a busy day. A home without excessive stair climbing would be ideal, but adopters should be prepared to help her when needed. As with all French Bulldogs, outdoor activities should be planned with her comfort in mind, avoiding excessive heat and allowing plenty of opportunities to rest.

Toast is the kind of Frenchie who will keep you laughing, keep you moving, and then happily curl up under the covers when she’s finally worn herself out. She’s playful, affectionate, outgoing, wonderfully silly, and happiest when she’s included in everything. Whether you’re tossing a tennis ball, heading out for an adventure, teaching her a new trick, or simply settling in for a snuggle, Toast wants to be right there beside you. She doesn’t need a perfect home, just a family ready to make her part of their world and give this special girl all the love and fun she deserves!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Toast, please submit an adoption application for her today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
