Tallulah’s Story

Tallulah came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Tallulah is a sweet, lazy, shy, quiet little Frenchie girl who loves to be cuddled and snuggled.  She is timid by nature but can settle down very quickly to cuddle her trusted person.  Tallulah will display her outgoing side when she is comfortable by playing with her crinkly duck or chewing on a bone.  She seeks attention and prefers to be everywhere and anywhere her foster family is.  She has bursts of energy and excitement when she is comfortable but is reserved around new people and in new situations.  Nap time is her favorite time! There is not a couch or lap that Tallulah won’t lay on during her many daily naps or even when tuning into her favorite TV shows.  She will even curl up in her Xpen with her favorite bone nibbling away when feeling sleepy and needing some time alone. Tallulah’s spunky side will shine through when she finds her favorite crinkly toy and runs around shaking it all about so she can hear it crinkle. If it crinkles or squeaks Tallulah will play with it, although she does have a favorite duck!  When Tallulah first arrived at the rescue, she was very timid and reserved.  She lived most of her life in a commercial breeding kennel and is slowly learning to live her life as a cherished pet.  Although she is slowly gaining confidence and becoming more comfortable every day outside of the breeding life and post her eye surgery, it is important to remember that she is dealing with a big transition and as such will need a patient and understanding family.  She currently lives with a furry foster sibling.  She gets along well with her furry friend but does like a dog that respects her space.  Tallulah gravitates towards smaller dogs and would thrive with a small furry pal to help her learn the ways of pet life!  She is still learning the ways of pet life and finds comfort in being with her humans and because of this, we feel she would thrive and be very happy in a home as an only pet or one with a gentle, passive, and balanced smaller dog.  As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to other dogs in the household are a must.  Although she has not been around very young children, Tallulah has not shown any aggression towards humans or middle school-aged children but due to her overall timid nature and her desire to offer nibbles when excited, we feel she would do just best around dog-savvy, respectful children over the age of 8. She has been known to jump up in excitement, so she may accidentally knock over younger children. She should always be supervised when she is around children to make sure both she and they are kept safe.  

Tallulah’s foster family happily reports she is nearly potty trained!  She continues to make progress with a strict outside schedule. Her adoptive family will need to be patient, willing, and able to keep her on a regular and consistent schedule for her continued potty-training success.  Tallulah is fully crate/Xpen trained (without accidents) and often retreats to her Xpen when feeling sleepy or if she is feeling shy in new environments.  Since Tallulah is a master snuggler, we know she would love to share her human bed at night.  For her safety, we recommend a similar arrangement when her humans are away from the home and/or when she is left unsupervised, so she is safe and secure while no one is at home. Tallulah does not know danger and is still learning how to be a pet.

Medically, Tallulah is now in great health, although she had cataract surgery in both eyes to remove mature cataracts while in foster care. Her sense of smell and need to use her mouth is still dominant, but she’s learning to use her sight more. She will likely need to be monitored by the Veterinary Eye Specialists of Nebraska for her entire life. She currently gets drops in her eyes twice a day, although it is quite possible that her need may be reduced to once a day, or possibly stop them altogether. She is not a huge fan of the drops, but at 22 lbs it is manageable for one person to administer her daily drops. She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian. Overall Tallulah is a very low-maintenance pup.  

Tallulah would do best in a house with a fenced yard since she is working on perfecting potty training and can at times catch a smell that may be more interesting than coming back to her owner’s return command.  Tallulah would do well in any type of home. She’s a master at stairs!   We also feel that Tallulah would be a good pet for a multiple floor apartment-style home as she is typically a quiet dog (unless she is demanding pets, but her bark is even quiet.)  Work from home or a stay-at-home parent? Tallulah would absolutely love that!  She also would be a great candidate to take to the office (once she has perfected potty training).  She is looking for a patient family to call her very own, one that is willing to work with her to learn how to “pet”, one with an overall calm, quiet lifestyle, and one that is home often to offer her unlimited snuggles. Tallulah loves nothing more than to be included in any and all human activities; she is a great ride-along companion!
