Sully’s Story

Sully came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Meet Sully – the soft-hearted, sweet-natured, and irresistibly playful French Bulldog puppy!

Sully is an adorable mix of playful energy, gentle soul, and snuggly charm. While he has all the enthusiasm you’d expect from a young pup—romping around the backyard, chasing after his dog friends in a game of tag, or happily chewing on a favorite antler—Sully also knows the value of a good nap. After a solid play session, you’ll find him curled up on the couch or snuggled beside a trusted human, ready to snooze the afternoon away.

Sully is especially fond of toys—plush stuffies and bones are his current favorites. You might spot him proudly carrying his chosen toy around the house or chewing contentedly while the action continues around him. He loves to be where the action is, often trailing his foster mom as she handles backyard chores, happy to keep her company.

While Sully is a confident player with his fellow Frenchies (he loves other dogs!), he’s still learning to fully trust new humans. He can be a little shy when meeting new people—especially if they come on strong—but once he knows you’re safe, his heart opens wide. He absolutely adores kids, especially his current 3-year-old human foster sibling who showers him with hugs and kisses. Sully soaks it all in, patiently and lovingly. He’s been around kids ages 3, 7, 10, and 13 and has done wonderfully with them all. As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs AND supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both he and they are kept safe.

Sully thrives in a home with a playful dog friend and humans who are patient and kind. He would benefit from slow introductions to new people and will need some help building his confidence. He’s not walking on a leash just yet, so a secure yard and some positive leash training will be essential as he continues to grow.

Sully is still learning about the world, so his adoptive home should provide consistent guidance, positive reinforcement, and lots of love. He’s treat motivated, eager to be close to his people, and ready to learn. With a little time and a lot of affection, Sully is sure to blossom into the loyal, loving companion he’s meant to be.

If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, slightly shy but endlessly loving puppy to complete your family—Sully just might be your perfect match.

Sully is making great progress with his potty training! He’s a smart little guy who picks up on routines quickly and follows the lead of his foster siblings. He’s starting to head to the back door when he needs to go out, but he’s still learning to consistently give a clear signal—especially if he’s in a new area of the home, like the basement, where the usual door isn’t nearby. With a consistent routine and structure, Sully is well on his way to being fully potty trained. His foster mom stays home, so he gets frequent potty breaks and is doing really well with that rhythm.

Before his neuter, Sully was marking outside, but he hasn’t marked inside and continues to do well wearing a belly band just in case. He is crate trained and has not had any accidents in his crate. While he doesn’t love his kennel, he’s adjusting more every day. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night or when his foster family is out running errands, though long stretches during the day should be limited to around 3–4 hours.

Sully has proven to be an incredible cuddle buddy and has slept in bed with his foster a few times—snuggled right in and staying put all night without a peep. He absolutely loves being close to his people and would adore sharing a bed with his forever family. For his continued success and safety, we recommend that his adoptive home maintain a consistent routine and a similar crating/sleeping setup as he transitions. This sweet boy is thriving and just needs a little structure, a lot of love, and a cozy bed to call his own!

Medically, Sully seems to be in great health.  He has been neutered, nares widened, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, and has been given the okay for adoption by our veterinarian!  Sully does seem to suffer from some seasonal environmental allergies that are managed with a daily allergy pill and a cytopoint injection during those high allergy months.

Sully would do well in a home with a securely fenced yard—ideally one attached to a free standing home, shared-wall apartment or townhome—so he has a safe space to play and continue his potty training. While many Frenchies are known for their dramatic flair, Sully is actually on the quieter side and wouldn’t be disruptive in an apartment setting. He’s recently found his voice, but he’s not a frequent barker and is generally content as long as he’s near his people.

A fenced yard is still a must for Sully since he’s not yet leash trained and enjoys exploring and getting the occasional case of the zoomies. He’s a mix of playful puppy energy and laid-back snuggler, often found lounging on the couch after a good romp with a doggy friend or a toy.

Sully would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time—whether that’s a work-from-home setup, a stay-at-home parent, or even someone who can take him into a pet-friendly office. He’s incredibly people-oriented and loves nothing more than curling up in a soft bed next to his human’s feet while they work. He doesn’t like being alone for long and still needs supervision, as he’s been known to sneak off with the occasional sock or napkin.

While he’s crate trained and does fine for a few hours, Sully much prefers being out and about with his humans and would love a family who includes him in their daily routine. He’s sweet, affectionate, and more mellow than your average 9-month-old, but still needs structure, supervision, and companionship as he grows. Sully is ready to bring so much love and comfort to the right family—and all he asks in return is someone to follow around and snuggle up with!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Sully, please submit an adoption application for him today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
