Stitch’s Story

Stitch found her way into SNAFU via a private party. Her family wanted her to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled, loved and live out her life as a cherished pet!

Stitch is an active, playful, attention seeking, social, energetic, outgoing and friendly Pug. She loves to do nothing but play, play, play all day. She has 2 speeds… 100mph and sleeping! She loves romping around the house and exploring every inch of her surroundings to see what she can play with. This curious girl is a master at the game of keep away; she will inevitably find an item she is NOT supposed to get her little paws on and will make a game out of trying to get it away from her. Stitch loves romping around with her foster siblings whether in the house or in the yard. After she has played her heart out she will settle into her cuddler bed with her favorite bone. She will nibble away until her eyes meet one of her furry foster siblings in hopes they want to engage her in some more play! Stitch will never turn down a wrestling match nor a zoomie race in the yard. If she still has some play energy but the others don’t she is more than content to entertain herself with a stuffy, she can play a mean game of catch with herself! After absolutely exhausting herself from endless play, Stitch will always look for her people to partake in a cuddle session during her snooze. She is the definition of a “velcro pug” and truly just wants to be with her people all the time as she finds comfort in their presence and the attention she is offered. After a much needed puppy nap, she is off circling the house following her foster siblings around, mimicking their behaviors and stealing all their toys. Stitch’s days start and end with run, play, snuggle… wash rinse repeat! Stitch’s overall fun, rambunctious, happy disposition allows her to get along with every being she meets whether furry or human. Stitch is still a young puppy and she comes with all the puppy tendencies; finger nibbles, jumping, etc. She is in need of some basic puppy training to learn what is expected of her in the home. She doesn’t know danger and she should always be supervised as she has a tendency to find items she is not supposed to get into! She has a very lovable and fun temperament which is favorable when she is around other dogs. Stitch seems to get along with any dog, though she has not been tested with larger dogs; with proper, slow introductions we feel she would do just fine.! She has yet to meet any human, big or small, that she hasn’t fallen head over paws for. Because of her lighthearted disposition, we feel Stitch will do perfectly well with another dog of any size and with dog savvy, gentle, respectful children of any age (she is still in the puppy nibbling phase). We also feel Stitch would thrive in a multi-dog household as she emulates other dog behaviors and picks up quickly on what is expected in the home and proper dog manners. Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household is a must and she should always be supervised to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Stitch is still working on potty training but his foster family reports her accidents are becoming fewer and further between. As with all of our dogs, any adopter must be patient and willing to continue working on her potty training success as she acclimates to his new home and surroundings. She is still a young dog in need of a consistent outside routine and a signal for potty. Stitch is 100% crate trained and does not have any accidents in her crate. She sleeps quietly (after a little cry of course) when her foster family happens to be away from the home and adorably will rest her little head on a comfy blanket. She does sleep in her crate in the evening but would much rather share a bed and offer snuggles to her new family!

Medically, Stitch is in great health! She has been spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested, and updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Stitch would do great in any type of home! She is a champ with the stairs and since she does love to explore the yard, and has a tendency to run and play, a house with a completely closed fenced yard will be preferred for her (as opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling). Since Stitch is quite a people’s Pug, we think she would love to eventually go to work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office. She does still need to work on some basic training before entering the work space but with consistent work she would do just fine! If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem at all – she’s completely happy sleeping at home for a few hours as long as she has a warm soft blanket, a furry friend and her people can arrange for a potty break for her! Stitch is a fun little puglet looking for a home that has an active family to dote on her, can be included in most family outdoor activities, can offer her the exercise she desires, an engaging furry friend to play with and lots of love and attention. Stitch is still a young dog that will require a little extra patience as she is guided into what is expected of her. She is such a goofy little girl that will offer a family so much joy, love and happiness. Please be prepared for the ongoing care requirements that are needed to take care of a young dog. Stitch is full of energy and needs a family that is willing and able to match her levels!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Stitch, please submit an adoption application for her.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
