Sandy’s Story

Sandy was surrendered to SNAFU Rescue via shelter release. She was brought to the shelter as a stray after a police officer found her wandering the streets. It was clear to the shelter staff that Sandy had just had a litter of puppies in the last few months and was in desperate need of food.  Sandy is ready to be placed in a loving pet home and to live the rest of her life as a loved and cherished pet!

Sandy is a laid-back, sweet, silly, playful English bulldog who loves her people! Sandy does not know a stranger! She has loved every single human she has met and demands to be in their lap or by their side at all times! Her foster family reports she likes other dogs and has gotten along very well with them, both big and small. Slow intros will be necessary as Sandy loves to engage in play and wrestling, which older dogs may not appreciate! We think Sandy would thrive in a home with other furry brothers and sisters! She would excel in a home with other dogs who will show her the ropes on how to be a pampered pet and get used to the pet life! But she would be fine as an only pet, too. She is happiest in an active household that can give her plenty of love, treats, pets, and laps to sleep in. Sandy has been around cats and did well, so we think she would do fine with a kitty or two in the home.

Sandy loves all humans! Sandy especially loves small humans who can offer her plenty of play, belly rubs, and pets! We feel that given her disposition, she would do very well in a home with children who could dote on her and are dog savvy. Sandy is eager and loves to jump on her people, so super small kiddos might not appreciate being knocked over! It is important to remember that Sandy is going through a big transition and will need time to adjust and acclimate to her new surroundings. This will require leadership and patience from her forever family.

Sandy is doing well with potty training and her foster family reports she quickly picked up on the routine thanks to the other dogs in her house.  Sandy will have the occasional accident if left unattended or alone for too long, but these have been few and far between. She has been accident-free when allowed to sleep in bed with her foster family. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with her offering her a consistent schedule.

Sandy is mostly crate trained and does seek out her crate if the door is left open and there are soft blankets and a cozy bed inside. Sandy would 100% prefer to be a dog that is allowed to snuggle in the human bed at night time! She is a world-class cuddler and gives some of the best snuggles and kisses.  When left unattended, Sandy has been gated in a small room like a laundry room, kitchen, or bathroom with few issues. Sandy does have a knack for getting into the trash or finding food on the kitchen counters, so it will be important that these items are kept out of Sandy’s reach (and boy, can she reach!)

Medically, Sandy is in great shape! Sandy has no reported health concerns. Sandy has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/deworming, is microchipped, and has been given a clean bill of health for adoption by our veterinarian. Sandy could afford to gain 5-10 lbs (don’t you wish your doc would say this about you, too?) But it is important Sandy not gain too much weight as bulldogs are especially prone to hip and joint issues.

Sandy would do well in any type of home, but we feel she would do best in a home with a fenced-in backyard since she loves to sun her bulldog buns on the deck/yard and show off her Zoomie skills! She loves to be outside with her family and siblings. She is a champion at stairs and loves short walks on a leash.

When Sandy has exerted all her energy, she is looking for a family to snuggle with and one that has the time to spend with her offering all of her favorite activities: chewing on bones, catching some z’s, or snuggling!  We think she’d love to go to work with her new family as Sandy enjoys being with her people and the center of attention. She’s an all-star at car rides and loves to travel.  She would relish the opportunity to be the office pet! Sandy desperately wants a life of pampering and being the center of her family’s world! Sandy is an affectionate, loving bulldog looking for someone to spoil her with all the attention she deserves and to show her true love and companionship. She will return all the love she is offered.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
