Rollie’s Story

Rollie came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Rollie is 100% a Bonafide French Bulldog!  She is an active, playful, social yet mischevious little Frenchie girl; she should not be left unattended while wandering the home as she can get into things she shouldn’t.  She is still learning what is expected of her and is a smart girl that takes correction well.  Her favorite pastime is “moving”; always be moving.  Rollie is definitely making up for the puppy time she missed and is full speed ahead!  This playful girl engages her toys with purpose!  Rollie will vigorously shake her stuffy toys and bring them to her favorite humans with a HUGE smile on her pretty little face. Rollie will barrel through anything to get to her people; she is quite the bulldozer! She is all play all the time. Her favorite toys are those that squeak.  Rollie will carry them around proudly squeaking away, shaking them in her mouth.  She will happily let you exchange one toy for another; she is very generous that way!!   This little busybody has a hard time settling as she is overly excited!  Rollie loves her people so much that she tries to be overly close to them by climbing into their laps and getting as close to their faces as possible.  She is NOT aggressive at all; rather she is just looking for love; albeit in such an adorably awkward way. Rollie adores all people and desires to be with her people doing whatever they are doing at all times. She positively feeds off their energy and will try and relax when they relax and will play when they want to play.  She is an equal-opportunity attention seeker!  Big or small she loves them all!   In all seriousness, she does love a plush spot and if her human happens to share her space she will aqueous and push up ever so gently against them and snooze away!   Rollie can be quite active but don’t be fooled by all her activity… she does have quite a chill side and can be a Frenchie couch potato.   She is a social butterfly (she has yet to meet a stranger) and seems to get along well with every human she meets (big or small).  Because she is such a playful dog with an overall sweet disposition we think she would do best in a home with children 5 years or older (she would really do well with kids in her adoptive home).  Rollie can be quite the bulldozer and could easily inadvertently knock down the littles.  She is experiencing a big change and is in need of firm leadership, consistent correction, and positive reinforcement as she continues to acclimate to pet life.  Slow introductions and supervision around children are a must to be sure they and she are kept safe.  Rollie does very well with both the big and small resident pups.  She can keep up with a 90lbs dog!  She does cohabitate well with the older dog in the home; Rollie will try and engage her in play to no avail.  She will graciously accept defeat and let her be.  We do think she would do well with another balanced dog to learn the ropes from and could also do really well if placed in a home as an only dog.  Rollie chases the resident cats in her home.  She thinks it’s a fun game and once the excitement has worn off, she will let the cats be.  She would do well with dog-savvy cats only.  Rollie needs a family willing to work with her on learning manners, the ways of pet life and will need a family who is willing to spend extra time with her and offer her patience and introduce her slowly to new things to build her confidence.

Rollie’s foster family reports she has been working on potty training and it is a work in progress. She will happily go outside when taken but doesn’t offer a signal to indicate when she has to go.  A regular and consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training success in her new home.  Rollie is crate trained and enjoys her time (accident-free) while in her crate. Rollie will often seek her crate from some quiet time if her foster home is a little chaotic for her liking.  For her safety, we recommend that she is kept on a similar crating schedule when her family is away at work or leaves the home. Rollie does share her human bed at night.  This little snuggle bug enjoys the comfort of her people in the evening and sleeps like a little angel!  She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home.

Medically, Rollie seems to be in great health!  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Rollie would be happiest in a house with a yard (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard) since she is still working on potty training and is still learning on walking on a leash.  Rollie will run if given the chance.  She is a wild child and enjoys the comforts of her fenced-in yard to sniff about at her leisure and do her business when she needs to.  A fenced-in yard is preferred for her ongoing safety.  A share-walled apartment with an adjacent ground-level fenced-in yard would also be okay for her.  Rollie is a very quiet dog and not a barker at all!  She does very well with stairs so a multi-level home would be okay for her!   We also think she’d love to go work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office! She loves to meet new people and although this fun girl wants to party most of the day she will easily relax with a Kong toy or lick-i-mat treat!  If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem – she’s completely happy sleeping the part of the day away as long as her people aren’t gone the full work day. Again, she is a fun, energetic, adorably sweet, playful Frenchie that wants to be part of her human’s everyday activities.  She loves to play, explore and investigate what her people might be doing at all times.  Rollie is a true dream girl that has such a goofy personality she would love to share!  She seeks the attention and adoration of her loved humans and would love a LARGE family with children to dote on her; the more hands to pet the better!  Rollie is an adult dog that still thinks she is a puppy (with puppy-like mischeivious behaviors)!  She is a ton of fun and would offer a family a good ole’ time!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
