Reveille’s Story
Reveille came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.
Reveille is a sweet, playful, active, fun Frenchie girl. She wants all the love and attention! Reveille is a master snuggler and insists on being with her people at all times. She has quite the playful side; Reveille quickly realized toys are fun, balls are like, and those that squeak must be destroyed! She is still learning what is and what isn’t a toy so Reveille should never be left alone wandering the home as she may get into something she shouldn’t. Reveille can take her time to warm up to new people and environments, but as long as she is with her trusted people she will seek their guidance and approval. Her happy place is in the presence of her people. She will follow her trusted humans like it is her job… where they go she goes! Her foster family claims she has worn a path from the living room to the kitchen! Reveille lives with a few furry siblings and will occasionally partake in their fun. Reveille will guard her toys and her humans; that rude behavior isn’t well received by her smaller furry companions. She is better matched with those dogs her size or larger. Reveille is a cuddle bug who always wants to touch her humans when she naps and enjoys cuddling on the couch during family TV time. She is a mid-energy Frenchie girl and can often be found playing with her toys or looking for a human or dog to engage her in play. Reveille is brand new to pet life and is learning what is acceptable behavior and what is expected of her. She will push the limits and because of this, she is in need of a strong leader that will properly guide her into a family pet. She will need a family who is willing to spend extra time with her, offer her ongoing patience, and introduce her slowly to new things to build her confidence. As mentioned, she currently lives with several furry foster siblings. She does want all the attention and can be a bit of an attention hog (especially if you are giving her foster sister loves!). She gets jealous of anyone else getting attention and will nose her way to the front of the action, to not miss out. Reveille is experiencing a big change and because of that, she needs consistent leadership, and positive reinforcement to help her learn proper dog manners in her adoptive home (she is very treat-motivated). She seems to get along well with every human she meets after warming up to them. Reveille can be shy at first but can easily be won over with scratches and cuddles. Due to her playful energy, and sweet, yet persistent disposition, we think she would do best in a home that has other dogs equal to or larger than her for her to play with and learn from but she would do equally okay as an only pet as soaking up all the human attention would be amazing for her! Because she tends to jump on and guard her humans, we feel she would be best with children 10 years or older who are gentle and dog-savvy. Slow introductions and supervision around children are a must to be sure they and she are kept safe. She is slowly learning manners and we believe she could benefit from a balanced, active fur buddy in her adoptive home.
Reveille’s foster family happily reports she is making great strides in potty training when kept on a consistent schedule and when taken out with the other resident dogs. She will greatly benefit from a signal for potty (she will sit by and scratch at the door at times). Her adoptive family must be willing to continue to keep her on a regular and consistent schedule to help with potty training in her new home. Reveille is crate trained (without accidents). She does have some anxiety and prefers to be around her people at all times. Reveille should never be crated when her people are home/in a different room. That causes her much undo anxiety. For her safety, we recommend a similar crating arrangement when her people happen to be away from the home. She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home. Reveille enjoys the comfort of her dog bed at night in a small gated area in her foster family’s bedroom. Because she is such a cuddle bug and adores her humans, we know Reveille would love to share a bed with her adoptive family!
Medically, Reveille seems to be in great health! She has been spayed, nares widened, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, had a dental, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian. She does have some acid reflux and would benefit from a daily OTC acid reflux med like Pepcid AC.
Reveille would be happiest (and best suited) in a house with a fenced yard (as opposed to a multiple-floor, shared-walled apartment-style dwelling with no yard) due to her high energy, her desire to be vocal at times, because she is still potty training, working on her leash skills, and would run if something in the distance interested her. Plus, she needs an open space to help her burn off all the puppy-like energy and chase her beloved ball around. Reveille has mastered the stairs and would do well in a home that has them or doesn’t. Ideally, Reveille is searching for a family that has time to devote to a pup that is new to pet life and help her work on her manners. She would love an active family that would allow her to partake in their weekly adventures! A part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home parent would be ideal for her! If not, she would love an office setting to be near her people at all times. Again, Reveille is still learning the ways of pet life, and learning to trust, and needs an engaged family to help build her confidence. She would love a family that can offer her companionship, unlimited pets/scratchies/cuddles, and an active home to help work off her energy. She has made tremendous daily improvements and just needs a little extra patience as she learns how to “pet”. Reveille is opening up more and more every day and is proving to be quick to learn and do what is asked of her! This girl has a lot of love inside her and will make a loyal and loving companion.

disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
