Ramsey’s Story

Ramsey came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Ramsey is the perfect balance of active and laidback.  She is a playful, social, lighthearted, excitable, happy Frenchie girl who loves to play with her furry friends. When Ramsey first arrived into rescue she was shy and very timid.  Although she still displays a timid nature about her, she is starting to warm up a bit faster to those unknown people.  Once she is properly acquainted, she becomes her crazy boisterous self.  She warms up to dogs faster than she warms up to people!  Ramsey’s love for all dogs (big and small) shines when first meeting new furry friends!  She is confident in her interaction with dogs and can easily make every pup her new best friend for life.  Ramsey has a lot of playful puppy energy in her and with time and patience, we know she will be an overall VERY social pup!  You can often find her running all around the house or yard chasing her favorite foster sibling or engaging in a fun game of gentle wrestling.  Ramsey adores her foster sibling, a French Bulldog similar in size. She will stop at nothing to get her furry friend to play; especially if there is a game of tug-of-war or fetch is ready to happen!  She really is a social butterfly!  When her furry friends tire out, Ramsey will grab her beloved Nylabone, she can occupy herself for quite some time when settled in for a chew session.  When she tires herself out from so much play she is ready to settle down for a quick snooze.  After a much-desired nap, Ramsey is back looking for her furry friends to start playing again!  Ramsey is experiencing a big transition and will need leadership, and consistent correction to help her learn proper dog behavior, learn proper dog manners, and know what is expected in her adoptive home.  She is smart, a fast learner, and eager to please so we know Ramsey will be quick to adapt to pet life with the proper leadership!  Ramsey gets along famously with every human she meets (once acquainted)  as she is quite spirited and loving around her trusted people.  Because of this, her foster family believes she would be best in a home with dog-savvy, gentle, children of any age.  We also feel she will flourish in a home with other furry members as she follows the lead of her foster pack and fits right in from day one.   As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs and supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Ramsey is doing extremely well with potty training and her foster family reports she is 90% trained.  She quickly picked up going outside as she mimicked the other dogs in the home. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with her, offering her a consistent schedule and working with her on a signal for potty.  Ramsey is crate-trained and remains accident-free in her crate.  Once potty training is mastered we know she will be able to be trusted in a small dog-proof room and eventually free reign of the home.  Ramsey enjoys the snuggle time she has with her furry friends!  We think since loves to cuddle and snuggle, that she would love to share a bed with her adoptive family (she currently shares the bed with her foster family). For her safety, we recommend a similar sleeping schedule be kept for her as she doesn’t know danger.

Medically, Ramsey seems to be in good health!  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, nares widened, heartworm tested, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian.

Ramsey would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard because she is so active, her overall curious nature, her desire to sniff all the outdoor items, and because she loves to run all around (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling home with shared walls).  She does great with a couple of stairs but has not been exposed to larger staircases.  With time and some practice, we know stairs will not be an issue for her!  Ramsey is not leash trained; she is currently working on it but has some way to go so a home with a fully fenced yard is suggested for her ongoing safety.  We also think Ramsey would love an active family with children to play with as she is ridiculously social and happy to be anywhere and everywhere her trusted people are. Because Ramsey is so adaptable, we think she would also flourish in a home that is on the quiet side and has more or a low-key lifestyle. She just really loves all people and dogs that will offer her attention and that is her main request!  We don’t think she would be a good candidate for an office environment at this time.  Ramsey is too high-energy but with time, and some puppy training, we think she would eventually love to go to the office with her new family!  She would also thrive in a home with a part-time or full-time work-from-home or a stay-at-home parent.  If that is not an option, Ramsey would be a-okay hanging out during the work day as long as she has her furry friend and is offered a midday potty break. She will happily sleep the day away in her bed or on a soft comfy blanket as long as her people and her furry best friends are near.  Ramsey has just started her journey to live a spoiled pet life.  With time, dedication, and structure we know she will be the most amazing addition to any family.   Ultimately, Ramsey is a very adaptable, sweet girl who will make any family happy.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
