Puck’s Story
Puck was surrendered to the SNAFU rescue to no fault of his own. His family didn’t have the time to care for his needs and wanted him to find a loving home where he can be cherished and spoiled for the rest of his life.
Puck is a very active English Bulldog. If he could play all day, he would definitely do that but will allow his people to stop playing and rest when they need to. If his people are up for a walk, a car ride, or a day in the office you can find Puck ready to go anywhere as he is very social and always ready to meet new people and new dogs, as long as they allow his somewhat forceful attempts to sniff and meet them. He is a Bulldog that adores his people more than anything. Be ready for a dog who follows you around like your shadow because he just loves to hang out and be near his people at all times! Yes, Puck is 100% a Velcro dog. He desperately wants to please his people but is as stubborn as they come. When Puck isn’t glued to his humans you can find him asking for Bulldog suited walk, exploring the yard, or sunning his cute buns outdoors. He has a favorite one-legged chicken (yes he is responsible for the missing leg) or his jolly ball that he can play with for hours! After some time in the sun, he is looking for a comfy place to lay his head, but not for too long because this guy loves to party and get ALL THE ATTENTION! After a Bulldog-suited nap, Puck is begging for pets, love, attention, and more attention! Puck has a super chill foster sibling (also an English Bulldog) and he gets along wonderfully with her; although she’s not really up to playing with him, so he’s dependent on his humans to help him play. He does not resource guard but he has no problem taking items that belong to his foster sister. Puck seems to prefer furry friends that are his size or smaller, as he’s slightly intimidated by those bigger than him, or any that don’t react well to his pushy meeting style (typical EB!) Puck is truly the pawfect dog in his foster home however he doesn’t know his size or strength (not in a bad way at all). He wants to jump in and wrestle, play, and run around with the humans in his home, but he can make these loud PLAY growly-type noises that can give smaller children pause. He is also VERY vocal when not allowed to meet a person or pet that he REALLY wants to meet. He truly believes that everyone within a 5-mile radius was destined to pet him and show him love so he demands to meet everyone his eye catches! Puck will also get mouthy and inadvertently nip during a wrestling session. He is learning to be a gentleman, learning to take direction, and making vast improvements every day! Puck is experiencing a big transition and will need firm leadership, patience, and consistent correction to help him learn proper dog behavior, learn proper dog manners, and know what is expected in his adoptive home. Positive reinforcement and a lot of praise, when positive behavior is present, have worked wonders for Puck! He seems to get along well with every human he meets (big or small)! Due to the above-mentioned need to interject into all play with kids, and his overall beefy stature, his foster family believes he would be best in a home with calm, dog-savvy, gentle, children of 10 years or older. Again, Puck is GREAT with kids, but his size and noises can be scary to younger kids. He would do great in a home with other dogs or equally as well as an only pet, as long as his humans give him all the walks and playing time he requires. As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs AND supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both he and they are kept safe.
Puck is 100% potty trained without any accidents in his foster home. He is on a routine and does extremely well! He does well in his crate however he much prefers his bed in a special dog-safe room versus a crate. He is trusted in his foster home in a dog-safe space. We recommend that a crate arrangement is started for him until he can acclimate into his new home and then slowly be trusted outside his crate.
Medically, Puck seems to be in great health! He has been neutered, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! Good quality food and daily joint supplements would be ideal for Puck, as well as losing a few pounds.
Puck would do well in a home with a yard, a family that can spend a lot of time with him, and is willing to take him on several perfectly suited Bulldog walks a week (he does amazing on a leash). A house with a fenced yard will be preferred for him due to his love for the outdoors, the need to bark at strange noises, and his need to sun his buns (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard). A shared-wall home would not be good for Puck due to his overall vocal nature; he is quite the talker! We KNOW he’d be a GREAT office dog and requested that he can attend an office and even offered to be on the official greeting committee; he would likely need work on an appropriate office voice to use, as he can be very loud and vocal. Puck enjoys meeting new people and just needs to be reminded that he needs to be gentle. He has his crazy bulldog antics on display most of the time, and he expects EVERYONE to be as excited to meet him as he is to meet them. Puck is looking for a home where he can be the apple of his family’s eye, one that has the time and one that allows him to attend most of the family’s adventures. He is just about the sweetest boy looking for some extra TLC, guidance, and leadership. Puck thinks he is still a puppy and has such a goofy, loving personality that would fit into almost any home, but one with bulldog experience and another playful pup would be ideal!

disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
