Paisley’s Story

Paisley came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Paisley is a laid-back, social, inquisitive, happy, and friendly Frenchie girl.  She has such a curious and adventurous spirit. She thrives on meeting new people and will happily and politely ask for pets from anyone she encounters. When it comes to other dogs, Paisley is a social butterfly, getting along well after proper introductions, and she’s always up for making new furry friends. However, it may take her a little while to settle into new environments—she’s busy exploring every corner and sniffing out all the hidden nooks and crannies! As soon as the door opens, Paisley thinks it is time for her to go outside!  She is always ready and poised to head out once the door lock clicks.  Paisley loves a good romp around the yard and enjoys a bit of critter-chasing when she can. Whether it’s birds or squirrels, her prey drive kicks in, ensuring any backyard stays critter-free. Once she’s had her fill of exploring, Paisley’s laid-back side emerges, and she’s ready for a cozy nap, often choosing a comfy couch to rest on. While she isn’t a full-time lap dog just yet, her snuggly side is growing, and we can see her becoming one in the future! She adores playtime, and recently started to enjoy some brief time with toys that squeak or crinkle, but finds some hard chew toys are her preferred go-to. If her doggy pals aren’t available for a game of chase, Paisley is content to chew on her favorite Nylabone and relax nearby. Her friendly and laid-back demeanor makes her a wonderful addition to homes with other dogs, and she thrives in multi-dog households where she can learn from her furry companions.

Because of her fun-loving personality, Paisley is great with dogs her size or smaller, she is a bit intimidated by larger dogs she has met so her preference is a home with dogs around her size. Her friendly nature extends to people as well—she’s never met a human she didn’t love! Due to her playful and social demeanor, she would do best in a home with dog-savvy children 3 years or older.  Paisley’s prey drive makes her less suited for homes with cats or other small animals, and she will need patience and proper guidance to adjust to her new surroundings. With slow introductions to other dogs and children and plenty of supervision, Paisley will quickly settle into her adoptive home, ready to share her love and fun personality with her new family. She has yet to meet any human that she hasn’t fallen head over paws for.   We also feel Paisley would thrive in a multi-dog household as she emulates other dog behaviors and picks up quickly on what is expected in the home and proper dog manners. She would also be successful as a treasured only pet. She is experiencing a big change and will need some patience and proper direction to help her acclimate to her adoptive home. Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and she should always be supervised to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Paisley is still working on potty training.  Her accidents are becoming fewer and further between and is nearly fully trained! She is beginning to signal when she needs to go!  As with all of our dogs, any adopter must be patient and willing to continue working on her potty training success as she acclimates to her new home and surroundings. Paisley needs a consistent outside routine and a signal for potty.  She is 100% crate-trained and does not have any accidents in her crate.  Even though the crate is NOT her favorite, she begrudgingly sleeps quietly when her foster family happens to be away from the home and rests her little head on a comfy blanket.  She currently sleeps in a soft bed on the floor of her foster family’s bedroom in the evening and is okay doing so but we know Paisley would enjoy sharing a bed with her adoptive family at night as this little cuddle bug finds comfort in those she trusts and loves most.

Medically, Paisley is in good health!  She has been spayed, nares widened, tonsils removed, palate shortened, had a dental with extractions,  microchipped, heartworm tested, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian!

Paisley would do great in any type of home! She has mastered the stairs so a multi-level home would be okay for her.  Paisley does have a prey drive and will try to run if something in her distance interests her so a fenced yard IS required for her ongoing safety.  A shared-walled living arrangement would be okay for Paisley as she is an overall quiet dog but does need daily walks to show off her mastered leash skills and frequent trips to a local dog park to run off her energy.  A multi-level home/apartment would also be okay as Paisley quickly mastered going up and down stairs. Paisley is quite a people’s Frenchie; we think she would love to go to work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office. She would need some time to adjust quickly to a workspace as sometimes her curiosity gets the better of her, but once acclimated she would flirt her way into the hearts of all those in the office. If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem at all – she would much rather have a part-time or full-time stay-at-home, work-from-home family member.  Paisley would thrive in an overall active home where all her family members would be involved in her everyday care. She is an overall happy, playful soul who thrives with a routine and has adapted to pet life quickly!  She is very eager to please and just wants to be around her family at all times! She is an adaptable pup that adores her people, patrolling the backyard, couch time, and Frenchie-suited walks.  Paisley is such a joy and is an overall sweetheart of a girl!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
