Pablo’s Story
Pablo came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.
Pablo has a laid-back and easygoing personality, but since his BOAS surgery, he’s discovered some extra pep in his step! He’s even had a few occasional zoomies, although he settles down relatively quickly. This sweet boy loves following the other dogs in his foster home, showing his curiosity and gentle nature. When meeting new people or dogs, Pablo gets very excited, sometimes breathing a little heavy from all the excitement. He adores splooting on the floor, shaking his toys, and has a unique fascination with holding onto your hand with his mouth—not to bite but as his playful way of interacting with you. It’s his way of inviting you into the fun!
Pablo is particularly fond of soft toys with squeakers and will often toss bones around, chasing them like a game. He also has a soft spot for socks, so keeping them out of his reach is recommended! Though he hasn’t quite figured out how to fully engage in play with other dogs yet, he’s trying his best. He’ll often bring toys near his furry friends in the hope they’ll join him in some fun. When it comes to his humans, Pablo isn’t much of a snuggler yet, but he always wants to be close by. If you’re relaxing on the couch, Pablo will be right at your feet, content just to be near you. He loves ear and chin scratches, and when you offer him affection, he’ll often try to gently suckle on your hand—it’s the cutest thing ever! Pablo has a deep love for the outdoors and would spend all his time outside if he could. Whether he’s rolling around in the cool grass, hanging out by the fence watching the world go by, or simply sprawling out and relaxing, he’s in his element outside. He loves soaking in the sights and sounds of nature and could spend hours enjoying the fresh air.
Pablo has been around school-aged children based on his gentle temperament, he would continue to do well with dog-savvy kids who understand his small size and know how to interact with him respectfully. His calm, laid-back nature makes him a great fit for a quieter home environment, where he can continue to thrive. He would do well with other dogs and would greatly benefit from having a calm, balanced furry friend to help him continue learning the ropes of playtime and socialization. Even though Pablo’s furry foster siblings show some resource guarding tendencies and therefore all dogs are fed separately, Pablo at times will mirror their behavior and show a dislike for other dogs when they approach his eating area. He does not have a mean bone in his body but during feeding time it is best to feed him separately to start. Overall, Pablo is an affectionate and sweet boy who loves his people and enjoys the simple pleasures of life—like rolling in the grass, gentle chin scratches, and staying close to those he loves. He’s ready to find a loving home where he can continue to blossom, with plenty of outdoor time and a human to share his playful yet easygoing personality with. Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and he should always be supervised to make sure both he and they are kept safe.
Pablo is working on potty training! This is a whole new world to him, and he is making some progress every single day!! He is offered a regular schedule and often mimics the behaviors of the resident dogs. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be patient and willing to continue working on his potty training as he acclimates to his new home and surroundings. Positive reinforcement is key! Pablo will need a signal for potty. He has a distaste for his crate. He would rather have a small dog-safe space in his room for his comfort. He is offered a small gated space in his foster home and does well when his foster family is away from the home. He sleeps quietly in his gated area for a few hours at a time when his foster family is away from the home and at night. We’re sure Pablo would love to share the bed or bed on the floor in his adoptive family’s bedroom since he loves to be with his human at all times!
Medically, Pablo is in great health! He has been neutered, had a dental with extractions, nares widened, tonsils removed, palate shortened, microchipped, heartworm tested, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! Pablo does appear to have some of those pesky seasonal allergies. He is offered a daily OTC allergy pill in addition to daily foot wipes to keep his allergies at bay. Pablo does have some intermittent anxiety and is offered a calming agent to keep his anxiety at bay especially during his time in the car. We believe with time, trust, and getting comfortable in his adoptive home that his anxiety will reduce greatly over time.
Pablo would do great in almost any type of home! Pablo is still learning to use the stairs, so a home with a small number of steps would be best for him due to his short and squatty little legs. Due to his love for the outdoors, a fenced-in yard is preferred for him as Pablo doesn’t know danger and could easily wander off. An apartment-style dwelling would be okay for Pablo as long as it was a ground-level unit with an attached fenced-in yard. Since Pablo is an overall quiet, chill little boy we think he would love to go to work with his new family if they wanted to take him with them to the office. He would really love it If his family had a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home parent as he enjoys the company of his humans SO MUCH. Pablo is a little love bug looking for a family that can offer unlimited outdoor time, ample toys and bones, unlimited chin rubs/ear scratchies, and lots of love and attention. He will repay all the love with his unwavering loyalty! Pablo is truly the sweetest boy who so desperately wants to be the apple of someone’s eye. He needs attention, proper guidance, and patience in a home with a carefree attitude and a lazy lifestyle. He cherishes his time with his people lying on the floor by his favorite human feet watching TV and really just being with them all the time. Pablo embodies sweetness, curiosity, and unwavering loyalty. He is such a loving boy who will make his favorite people feel like they are the most important people in the world!! He would be a great addition to any family that is looking for a cute, little, squishy meatloaf of a boy!
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Pablo, please submit an adoption application for him.
disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
