Olivia’s Story

Olivia came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Olivia: The Ultimate Snuggle Bug with a Side of Zoomies 💕

Olivia is the kind of French Bulldog who believes the best place in the world is as close to her person as physically possible. This sweet girl lives for love, closeness, and long, uninterrupted cuddle sessions. If you’re sitting, she’s snuggling. If you’re lying down, she’s glued to your side. Olivia could happily nap for hours on end as long as she’s touching her human — that’s her version of pure bliss.

While she’s mostly calm and content, Olivia does have the cutest little bursts of silliness. Every so often, she’ll surprise you with a round of zoomies or a playful moment of goofiness before settling right back in for another nap. She’ll occasionally chew on a toy, enjoys giving gentle “love nibbles,” and has a charming way of keeping things light and sweet without ever being demanding.

Olivia enjoys the simple pleasures in life, like her daily short walk to the mailbox and back. These little outings are just her speed — enough to stretch her legs, sniff the air, and enjoy the world before returning to her favorite activity: relaxing with her person.

She does well with other dogs and generally enjoys their company, though she can be a bit protective of her snuggle time and meals. She may give a quick snap to remind other dogs to respect her space, but she’s never aggressive and has never hurt another dog. Feeding separately is recommended to help everyone feel comfortable and respected. As always, slow introduction to both children and dogs is recommended for their ongoing saftey.

When it comes to kids, Olivia prefers a calmer, more predictable environment. She can happily coexist with children who are gentle and respectful, but if things feel too loud or chaotic, she’ll choose to remove herself and find a quiet place. For that reason, a home with children ages 6 and up would be the best fit for her.

Olivia is perfect for someone who wants a deeply affectionate, low-key companion — a dog who will be your constant cuddle buddy, your quiet comfort, and your loyal little shadow. If you’re dreaming of a Frenchie who just wants to love and be loved, nap close, and share life at a gentle pace, Olivia is ready to curl up beside you and make your world a whole lot cozier. 🐾💗

Olivia’s Potty & Crate Training: A Work in Progress with Lots of Heart (and Opinions!) 🐾

Olivia is making steady progress with her potty training and is learning the routine one step at a time. She does a great job going potty when she’s taken outside and understands that part of the program — what she’s still working on is clearly telling her humans when it’s time to go. With a family who can take her out every few hours, she does very well. She would also be a great candidate for a potty pad setup, as she’s willing to use one when given access. Consistency, patience, and gentle encouragement will help her continue to build confidence and reliability in this area.

When it comes to crate training, Olivia has some very Frenchie-specific feelings — and she’s not shy about sharing them. She doesn’t mind her crate at all when it’s bedtime and understands that it’s time to settle in for the night. However, if she’s placed in her kennel and left alone while she’s still awake, she may voice her displeasure with a few minutes of enthusiastic “talking.” This usually passes once she realizes it’s time to relax, and she’ll calm down on her own.

Olivia will thrive in a home that understands she’s still learning and is happy to support her with a predictable schedule and plenty of reassurance. A family with a flexible routine, someone home more often, or the ability to offer frequent potty breaks (or potty pad access) will set her up for success. With time, consistency, and love, Olivia will continue to grow into a confident, well-mannered little lady — even if she occasionally has a lot to say about it. 💕

Medically, Olivia seems to be in great health. She has been spayed, nares widened,  is up to date on all vaccinations and dewormings, tested negative for heartworm, and is microchipped. Olivia has experienced IVDD episodes in the past but has made a full recovery with medication, strict crate rest, and acupuncture. To help prevent future flare-ups, she will need to maintain a healthy weight, avoid stairs, and should not jump on or off furniture. A high-quality joint supplement is recommended to support her joints and keep her spine healthy and well supported.

Olivia is a gentle, affectionate Frenchie whose world truly revolves around love and companionship. She doesn’t ask for much — just closeness, consistency, and a soft place to curl up beside her person. Once she feels safe, she becomes the sweetest little shadow, happiest when she’s near you, napping on your lap or quietly keeping you company. Her calm nature is balanced by small moments of joy, like her daily walk to the mailbox, which she absolutely loves.

Because of her past IVDD episodes, Olivia needs a home that supports her physical well-being. One or two small steps are manageable for her, but full staircases should be avoided. A single-level or ranch-style home is ideal, or a family willing to help her with any unavoidable steps. For this reason, a multi-level home is not the best fit. She also must avoid jumping and should always be handled with care to protect her back.

Olivia would thrive in a home where she isn’t left alone for long stretches. She simply loves being with her people. A work-from-home household, an office-friendly environment, or a home with a calm canine companion to keep her company during the day would be perfect. While she does well with other dogs, she prefers peaceful, respectful friends who match her relaxed energy.

Due to her vocal nature, a shared-wall apartment environment is not ideal for Olivia. A quieter home where she can feel secure and settled will help her be her best self. A fenced yard is not required, but it is always a plus for safety, as Olivia doesn’t have much awareness of danger. If a yard isn’t available, she does well wearing a harness and leash for potty breaks and short walks. A collar is not an option for her, as pressure on her neck could put her spine at risk.

Olivia can live with children, provided they are calm, gentle, and predictable. A home with kids ages 6 and up who understand how to respect her space would be a great match. She truly shines in environments where interactions are soft and loving.

An office setting would be a wonderful fit for Olivia. She would happily spend the day soaking up attention, lounging near her people, and greeting anyone willing to offer pets — as long as she gets regular potty breaks. More than anything, Olivia is looking for a home that values snuggles, understands her needs, and welcomes a dog who is perfectly content spending most of the day on your lap.

If you’re searching for a devoted, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be close, adored, and included in everyday life, Olivia is ready to give her whole heart — and happily nap beside you while she does. 💕

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Olivia, please submit an adoption application for her today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
