Nova’s Story

Nova came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

When Nova first arrived in rescue she was shy and very timid.  In such a short time her personality started to shine right through.  She is a smart, playful, social, fast, curious, laid-back little Frenchie girl who loves being around her people and her furry friends. You can often find Nova sniffing all around the fenced-in yard and exploring all the new smells of the outdoors. When she isn’t enjoying the sunshine outside, you can find her shadowing her foster family around the house, grabbing a few of her favorite chew toys, and laying down for a fun play session with her foster siblings; a pink Tyrannosaurus Rex stuffie is her absolute favorite!.  After a fun play and chew session, Nova will find a soft comfy bed to lay on or even better, with her furry friends.  Nova is quite the cuddle bug!  When she isn’t following her humans all around the house you can find her exploring every inch of her foster home she may seek out her crate for some quiet time.  She is quite smart, and curious, and wants to know where everything is so Nova must be supervised when wandering the home as she doesn’t know danger.  She currently lives with several furry foster siblings (both a dog and a cat).  Nova made fast friends with each of them and is thriving in learning what it is like to be a pet!  Although she absolutely adores her foster siblings and being part of their pack!  Nova is experiencing a big transition and will need leadership and guidance to help her learn proper dog behavior, learn proper dog manners, and know what is expected in her adoptive home.  She is extremely smart, a fast learner, and wants to please her humans.  Nova seems to get along well with every human she meets and can often channel her inner social butterfly.  Although she has not been exposed to young children, her foster family believes she would do wonderful in a home with dog-savvy, gentle, children of any age and a home with other furry members.  As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs and supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Nova is doing well with potty training.  She quickly picked up going outside as she mimicked the other dog in the home.  As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with her, offering her a consistent schedule and working with her on a signal for potty.  Nova is 100% crate trained, has not had any recent accidents, and sleeps quietly when his foster family happens to leave the home and as well at night.  Nova is such a snuggler that we believe she would love to share a bed with her adoptive family. For her safety, we recommend a similar crating/sleeping schedule be kept for her as she doesn’t know danger.

Medically, Nova seems to be in great health!  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, and heartworm tested, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Nova would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard due to her explorative nature, her ability to run fast (she has been reported to be a runner), and her love for the outdoors (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard) and since she is still perfecting going up/down a larger amount of stairs.  We also think Nova would love a low-key family that spends time at home or is willing to take her on some of the family adventures!  A family with gentle children to dote on her would be a HUGE plus.  We think she would love to eventually go to the office with her new family since she loves people!  You can’t take her to the office- that’s okay!  She will happily sleep part of the day away in her crate as long as she has a furry buddy to keep her company, has a soft comfy blanket as long as her people can arrange a mid-day potty break for her.  Work-from-home or a stay-at-home partner would be great for her as she can have some anxiety being away from her people.  Nova is just the sweetest little girl looking for love, attention, and a family to snuggle and call her own!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Nova, please submit an adoption application for her today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
