Noah’s Story
Noah came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.
Noah is an enthusiastic, fairly active, social, happy, outgoing, and friendly Boston Terrier boy. He enjoys romping around the house and exploring every inch of his surroundings but can usually be found next to one of his current foster pack or his favorite place, next to his foster mom. Noah has an affinity for the outdoors and often requests time outside to take in all the smells. For an older guy, he certainly enjoys playing with toys and can be found playing with those both outside and inside the house. He’s not picky about what kinds of toys he likes, fluffy, squeaky, throwable…he likes them all! Although he is very active and playful for his age, he sure does enjoy a nice long nap to reinvigorate to go investigate what his people or fur siblings are doing. Noah is not picky and will grab any soft bed, couch, or blanket when he needs a nap. He is very much a shadow dog; he loves to follow his people around to see what they’re doing and would also be happy to snuggle up for hours on end next to his human or family. Noah is usually great with other dogs and is the very best snuggle bug to both his humans and furry friends when their favorite TV shows are on. Noah has attended a SNAFU event and did very well but was a little uneasy with meeting some other high-energy dogs or dogs that got in his face. He corrected them appropriately, but he needs to have his space respected when around other stranger dogs. Due to this, we feel he probably would not be a great dog park candidate as there are too many unstable dogs and variables in that situation. Inside his foster home, he is happy to meet other dogs and has never had issues meeting new dogs in his home environment. In his foster home, he has a female Boston that will correct him from time to time and another foster Frenchie who struggles to get along with other dogs. Noah is reliable to stand still if there is dog commotion or correction and quite simply ignores or avoids confrontation. Overall, he’s a very “go with the flow” content kind of dude. He loves his foster mom and all the comforts his foster home allows him. What he wants more than anything is a comfortable and calm home where his furever family will dote on him. He is a stage 5 clinger if allowed to be but will respect his people’s space if they are busy. Noah has a very lovable and docile temperament, and we feel he will do perfectly well with other calm, gentle dogs and with dog-savvy, gentle, respectful children of any age. Noah was also able to meet some children at the SNAFU event and he was simply a delight. He was happy to let them pet and hug him, so we’re sure he’d do well with respectful, gentle children in his forever home. He has not been exposed to cats while in foster care or his previous home, so we can not speak to how he would do with cats. Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and he should always be supervised to make sure both he and they are kept safe.
Noah is still working on potty training; his accidents are becoming fewer and further between. As with all of our dogs, any adopter must be patient and willing to continue working on his potty-training success as he acclimates to his new home and surroundings. Noah, as with all dogs, needs a consistent schedule and routine for potty breaks. He is kenneled while his foster mom is at work, which he doesn’t love, but he will happily go into his kennel for a tasty treat! He must be confined to his kennel or a safe space when he is left unsupervised as he is an ornery boy and likes to get into the bathroom trash to shred tissue paper or chew on things that he thinks look interesting when he is left alone/unsupervised. When his people are around and watching him, he doesn’t seem to get into things and isn’t as mischievous. He currently is allowed to sleep in his foster mom’s bedroom with the door closed, most of the time choosing to sleep in his foster mom’s bed, in “his” spot. He will occasionally jump down and sleep on the dog bed on the floor but typically always prefers to sleep in the bed. He really is just so happy to be allowed to share the human bed and would love being able to sleep in bed with his adoptive family at night too, as this little cuddle bug finds comfort in those he trusts and loves most.
Medically, Noah is in great health! When he entered his foster home, he wasn’t neutered, had a UTI and had some infection in his colon. This caused some loose and bloody stool and his rectum to prolapse a bit, which caused him to have some accidents in his kennel during the day and he would mark around the house. After his neuter, meds to treat his infections, and a good diet, his rectum has healed, and his potty-training issues have improved drastically. He is no longer marking and doesn’t seem to have accidents in his kennel any longer, as long as he is kept on a regular and consistent schedule. Because of his previous GI issues, we feel he would do best if kept on a limited-ingredient diet. He currently is on a raw diet (pork) and does very well. If his adopters wanted to try to switch him to kibble, we feel that he would do best on a limited-ingredient kibble. He does have a small polyp up inside of his rectum that doesn’t cause him any pain and minimal issues, but at times he will have slightly loose stool and there will be a slight amount of blood. Our vet felt that this was a normal expectation for the polyp and didn’t feel the polyp needed to be removed, since it’s not causing him any issues and is in a harder-to-reach place for surgical removal. His forever home will need to be aware of and monitor this as he continues to age. He also had a small mole on his back removed at the time of his neuter. He has been neutered, had a dental with extractions, microchipped, heartworm tested, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian!
Noah would do great in almost any type of home! He has mastered stairs and is incredibly agile for his age. He surprised the heck out of his foster mom the first time he jumped up on the bed, without using the pet stairs! Since the bed is high, he has since been taught to use the pet stairs and does wonderfully going up and down them. A fenced yard isn’t required for him but is always preferred for his ongoing safety since he loves to explore the yard and smell all the smells. A multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling will probably not be ideal for him as he does occasionally bark and whine when he is kenneled. Noah might like to go to the office with you if that’s allowed. He’s a very docile and adaptable guy, so he seems to be fine wherever his human is. If you don’t go into an office for work, but rather work from home, that’s even better. Noah would love nothing more than to hang out with his family all day, every day. If his family is not able to work from home, he has adapted well to sleeping part of the day away as long as he has a warm soft blanket, and his people can arrange for a mid-day potty break for him! He is a playful and happy older gentleman looking for a home that has a lot of love, attention, a lap, and bed to share with him. He is an overall happy, content and sweet soul and has adapted to pet life quickly! Noah is technically a “senior”, but age is just a number, and he has a lot of life to live!
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Noah, please submit an adoption application for him
disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.

SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
