Nashville’s Story
Nashville came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.
Nashville has a quiet, super chill, loving, stubborn, laidback, and reserved disposition. His favorite pastimes include hanging around his humans, following his humans, sitting on the lap of his humans, and cuddling his humans. Yes, Nashville is very much a Velcro Frenchie!!! He is such a friendly, happy boy who loves extra cuddles and being snuggled. Nashville also enjoys batting around a toy for a bit and nibbling on his beloved Benebone or Himalayan Chew (under strict supervision of course). Nashville enjoys the company of other animals but would prefer that all the love, pets, and attention offered are just for him. He gingerly will commandeer the lap or hands of the person offering affection, pushing his way to the front of the line and even stepping on those that are in his way. He does not at all do this in an aggressive manner more so to lap up the extra loves being offered. Nashville is even so bold as to use his paw as a way to pull a human hand to rub his gigantic head!!! Nashy (as he is affectionately referred to) is still learning the ways of pet life and relies on his furry foster brothers for guidance and approval. He will follow his friends around the yard mimicking their behaviors (good and bad). Although he will not initiate play with his foster brothers, he will sit on the sidelines waiting for the pawfect time to enter the Frenchie scrum. Nashville will run the fence line up and down trying to get the attention of the passerby all the while following his pack’s every move (barking and running like crazy pups!). Nashville does love his outside time and fancies short jaunts around the neighborhood stopping every so often to take in the new scenery and new people. He has such a curious nature about him! His leash skills are good but still needs a little fin-tuning! After a perfectly suited (short) walk for his size, Nashville will search for a comfy place to snuggle up or preferably find a lap for a much-needed nap. Did we mention napping and snuggles again?!?! Nashy will always look for his people to partake in a cuddle session during his snooze but if they are not available a plush bed will do. He truly just wants to be with his people all the time as he finds comfort in their presence. Nashville will ALWAYS follow his people all around the house and refuses not to be in the same room with them. He exhibits a bit of anxiety when his favorite human goes behind a closed door as he will instantly and repeatedly whine until they return. Nashville’s overall relaxed disposition allows him to get along with his furry foster siblings. He has a very kind temperament which is favorable when he is around other dogs however when the alpha resident in the house gives him the business Nashville will not back down. He will never instigate a tussle but will not back down either. He has yet to meet any human (big or small) that he hasn’t fallen head over paws for! Because of his overall kind and lighthearted disposition, we feel Nashville will do perfectly well with other passive, balanced dogs and with dog-savvy, gentle, respectful children of any age. Nashville is working on jumping when greeting guests so supervision around smaller children is required. We also feel Nashville would thrive with other furry creatures (he really enjoys the company and play with female dogs over male) or be equally okay as an only-dog household as he enjoys all the human attention to himself. Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and he should always be supervised to make sure both he and they are kept safe.
Nashville is fully potty trained ONLY if he is kept on a strict schedule! He has not had any accidents in his foster home (outside of a few marking incidents that have 100% stopped post-neuter). As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be patient and willing to continue working on his potty training success as he acclimates to his new home and surroundings. Nashville would greatly benefit from a signal for potty; he currently waits by the door and inconsistently rings the bell (his foster family believes with some work, he could be bell trained). He is 100% crate trained and does not have any accidents while crated but will whimper/cry if he hears his people in the background (he should never be crated when his family is home/moving about the house as this causes him EXTREME worry). He sleeps quietly when his foster family happens to be away from the home as he has a plush warm blanket to provide him comfort. Nashville begrudgingly sleeps in his crate in the evening but would much rather share a bed and offer many cuddles with his new family!
Medically, Nashville is in great health (outside those pesky Frenchie Allergies)! He has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, nares widened, tonsils removed, had a dental, palate shortened, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! Nashville suffers from seasonal allergies. He will need DAILY care when it comes to the administration of allergy meds, offered cytopoint shots every 2 months during high allergy season, frequent bathing, daily medicated cleaning of folds/body/paws, and nose butter for his dry nose. A monthly supply of wipes can be purchased on Amazon.com and run about $13. He will need to be kept on a consistent diet avoiding chicken, duck, and turkey (he does very well with beef and sweet potato kibble).
Nashville would do great in almost any type of home! A home with a fully fenced yard will be preferred for Nashville as he does like his time outdoors, working on perfecting his leash skills, and will run if something out in the distance interests him. A multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling would be okay for Nashville as long as it is on the first floor with an adjacent fenced area (he does great with stairs). He does love to sniff and explore outside and is happy to do so in the yard or even on a short (very short) walk. Since Nashville is an overall quiet, chill little boy, we think he would love to go to work with his new family if they wanted to take him with them to the office. He currently sleeps ALL day in his foster dad’s home office (who is his absolute favorite person in the world) participating in zooms, snoring on conference calls, and offering to keep his lap warm via snuggles. He would really love it If his family had a work-from-home or stay-at-home parent as he enjoys the company of his humans. Nashville would not be a good candidate for a family that is away from the home for long working hours. He desires time with his loved ones and if his people are gone for too long his anxiety would get the best of him. He does well in the car and would love to be allowed to tag along on family adventures! Nashville is a little snuggle bug looking for a person/family that can offer a lap to rest his precious head, allow him to be everywhere they are, offer many belly/head scratches, short walks, and lots of love and attention. A furry pal (he is cat friendly) would be a HUGE plus! He will repay all the love with his unwavering loyalty! Nashville is truly the sweetest boy in need of a family that has allergy experience (or one willing to do their homework) that is willing to do anything and everything possible to ensure his ongoing allergy issues are properly maintained and addressed daily.
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Nashville, please submit an adoption application for him.
disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
