Mr. Wriggles’s Story

Mr. Wriggles came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Introducing Mr. Wriggles, the charming canine in search of his forever home! With a name as playful as his personality, Mr. Wriggles is a one-dog show who adores being the center of attention. He is an overall nervous and lazy pup with bouts of energy that he quickly turns into a playtime session.  He’s a master at fetch, chasing balls with unparalleled enthusiasm, and his love for squeaky toys knows no bounds – especially when it comes to his beloved chicken toy! This cuddle bug may have a lazy streak, but his affectionate nature more than makes up for it. When Mr. Wriggles is ready for some chill time, he will quickly find his beloved Nylabone and settle in his favorite comfy spot, and nibble away.  If his admired human is catching up with the most recent Netflix series, Mr. Wriggles is quick to plop right into the open lap offering endless kisses and affection. He’s a champion snuggler who thrives on companionship, seeking out his chosen human for endless cuddle sessions. However, Mr. Wriggles does struggle with anxiety, so he’s looking for a patient and understanding companion who can provide him with a calm and stable environment. In terms of household dynamics, Mr. Wriggles prefers to be the only pet, as he tends to resource guard his beloved human. He’s not a fan of sharing the spotlight with other animals, so a home without other dogs or cats would be ideal. Similarly, he’s best suited for a household without children, where he can enjoy undivided attention.

Mr. Wriggles resource guards his favorite human at any cost.  He will nip at, growl, and posture at anyone who gets in the way of his chosen person or if he feels threatened.  He successfully bitten in his foster home when his boundaries were being tested.  Mr. Wriggles broke the skin two times; he is quick to nip and run away. His aggression is only when protecting his human.  He has an overall laid-back demeanor around his person however and NEVER acts with his person.  He is 100% a love bug when spending time with his one and only. Mr. Wriggles has a love for adventure, particularly when it comes to car rides. He’s always up for a road trip with his favorite person by his side. Plus, he’s a pro at walking on a leash, making him the perfect companion for outdoor excursions. For Mr. Wriggles to thrive, he needs a strong leader who can provide him with structure and guidance. With the right person by his side, this affectionate pup is ready to embark on a lifetime of love and companionship. His foster family believes he would be best in a home as the ONLY pet and not around young children.  A single person would be the best choice for Mr. Wriggles as he gets strongly attached very quickly!

Mr. Wriggles is 100% potty trained.  For him to continue to be successfully potty trained in his new home his new family must be willing to keep him on a strict schedule (he thrives with structure), be willing to work with him on a signal for potty, and offer high-valued treats and praise (he loves encouragement).  Mr. Wriggles doesn’t prefer being in the crate but will go in willingly if offered one of his favorite snacks.  He does sleep in there when his foster family happens to leave the home for work but will cry out if left in his crate longer than 2 hours.  Due to the anxiety he has while in his crate we believe he should only be crated when his person is away from the home.  He does share his foster family’s bed at night. Boy, he is a great snuggler!  Again, he seems to have separation anxiety when left alone, and for his safety, we recommend that he is only in his crate when his humans are away from the home and a similar crating/sleeping schedule is kept for him.

Medically, Mr. Wriggles seems to be in good health!  He has been neutered, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, heartworm tested, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!  Mr. Wriggles has elevated liver enzymes that aren’t attributed to anything in particular.  He is bright, alert, has a good coat, and is eating well.  Our vet is not concerned since his liver values declined with the use of Denamarin and RX food (which he must be kept on for the time being).  His liver levels must be rechecked in 3 months.

Mr. Wriggles would do well in a home with a yard, a person that can spend a lot of time with him and being willing to dedicate the time to offer him the proper structure he so desperately desires.  A house with a fenced yard will be preferred for him (opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling) as Mr. Wriggles needs to be the only pet and shared apartment spaces will slow down his ability to grow.  He craves some exercise and a large yard to run and play would be the best fit for his desire to play fetch!  Due to his previous history, we do not think (at this time) Mr. Wriggles would make a great office dog unless he was able to be completely separated from any office personnel and has an office that doesn’t have a ton of foot traffic. He would much prefer a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home companion. Mr. Wriggles can sleep part of the day away in his crate as long as his person is not gone long hours.

If you’re seeking a loyal and devoted canine companion, look no further than Mr. Wriggles! One on one, is a TOTAL sweetheart!  He is ultra affectionate to his chosen person, loves belly rubs and scratchies.  He loves all toys and bones. Mr. Wriggles is looking for his forever companion, someone who will be his ride or die!  With the proper discipline, structure, patience and love Mr. Wriggles will thrive into being the best, most loyal friend.

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Mr. Wriggles, please submit an adoption application for him today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
