Miso’s Story
Miso found her way into SNAFU via a private party. Her family wanted her to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled, loved, and live out her life as a cherished pet!
Miso is an active, playful, and incredibly charming Puggle with the most expressive, always-wagging tail you’ve ever seen. Her whole body wiggles with excitement when she meets new people, and she truly wears her heart on her sleeve (or rather, her wagging tail!). While she does enjoy her lazy, snuggly moments, Miso has more energy and playfulness than the average Puggle and absolutely thrives on fun, mental stimulation, and engagement with her people.
Toys are her love language — especially small squeaky toys she can kick around, chase, and “accidentally” get stuck under furniture. She’s happy playing fetch or chasing thrown toys all day long, and she also enjoys settling in with a bone once she’s gotten her zoomies out. Puzzle-style play is one of her favorites too; hiding toys in towels or blankets is the perfect enrichment for her clever, curious mind.
Miso gets along great with smaller dogs and shares toys and bones beautifully with her canine buddy, Bruce. She was recently around a larger Lab and made it clear she prefers her personal space — confidently but appropriately setting her boundaries without aggression. With proper, slow introductions, she would likely do well with another respectful dog of any size. She is more toy-focused than food-motivated and may stand her ground if challenged over a toy, so supervision and healthy boundaries around shared playthings are important.
She does have a bit of a prey drive — squirrels and stray cats are very exciting to her — so a secure yard and mindful leash handling will be important. Despite that, she is extremely friendly with everyone she meets, and her sweet, enthusiastic nature makes it easy to imagine her loving life with a family, including (ideally) playful, dog-savvy children.
Miso is smart, silly, stubborn in true Puggle fashion, and full of personality. She would do great with first-time dog owners who are ready to provide her with love, structure, play, and mental stimulation. Plus — unlike many short-nosed breeds, she boasts a longer snout and breathes comfortably with no known breathing issues.
Miso is a joyful, loving, toy-obsessed, snuggly little goofball ready to make a house feel like home. 🐾💛
Miso is fully housebroken and has not had any accidents since being in her foster home. She does a great job letting her people know when she needs to go outside, often going right to the door to alert them — whether it’s for a potty break or the opportunity to watch (or chase!) squirrels. True to her breed, she is able to comfortably hold it for longer periods of time when needed.
She is also crate trained and will happily go into her crate for a treat. She sleeps in her crate overnight and does well in it when her people leave for work. If she can hear activity in the home, she may give a little protest cry at first, but she typically settles down quickly and relaxes. On her own, she will sometimes choose to lounge in her open crate as a cozy, safe space, which shows just how comfortable she is with it.
As with any dog, a consistent routine and patience will help ensure her continued success as she transitions into a new home, but Miso already has an excellent foundation and understands what is expected of her.
Medically, Miso is in great health! She has been spayed, microchipped, dental, heartworm tested, and updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! She did have cyst removed and the vet acheived clean margins; not further concerns!
Miso would thrive in a home where she has space to run, play, and keep an eye on all the neighborhood happenings. A fully fenced yard is a must for this active little lady, as she’s a runner at heart and will absolutely try to bolt out the door to chase squirrels, cats, or anything else that catches her eye. For safety, she should always be on a leash unless she’s in a securely fenced area. She loves being outside, watching other animals, and romping around at her own speed.
Miso does great with stairs and navigates them confidently, though she may be a tiny bit cautious at first in new environments. She can be fairly vocal — especially if she spots animals out the window or wants to initiate play — and she has that classic Beagle-style howl, so a home without shared walls is strongly preferred (no apartments or condos for this girl).
An active, engaging family would be ideal for Miso. She has a good amount of energy and truly craves interaction, play, and connection with her people. While she does perfectly fine with a mix of work-from-home and office schedules, she’s happiest when she feels included in daily life. She would likely do well in a dog-friendly office, especially if she got a midday play or ball session to burn off some energy before settling in for a nap.
Miso has experience being around multiple dogs and enjoys a bit of fun chaos, so a home with another playful dog her size could be a great match for her. She’s outgoing, joyful, and always happy, making her a wonderful companion for someone who wants a dog that is truly part of the action. She will need a family willing to provide structure, supervision, exercise, and plenty of love — and in return, she’ll offer endless tail wags, laughter, and affection.

disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
