Marjorie’s Story

Marjorie came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Marjorie is a bright, joyful French Bulldog puppy bursting with personality, playfulness, and pure love. She’s the very definition of a happy, outgoing girl who believes everyone she meets is already her best friend — no introductions necessary!

True to her puppy nature, Marjorie is active, curious, and always ready for fun… but don’t let that fool you — she’s just as enthusiastic about snuggles and cuddle time. One minute she’s zooming, wrestling, or proudly parading around with a toy in her mouth, and the next she’s cozied up on the couch, chewing on a favorite bone or gently soothing herself to sleep with a squeaky toy tucked close.

Marjorie is a toy connoisseur and collector. All toys are obviously hers, and she loves gathering them into her favorite spots — especially the rug by the back door or the big dog bed in the living room. Squeakers, crinkle toys (she is determined to get every last crinkle out!), and chew bones are her absolute favorites. She’s a big-time chewer and is learning which things are toys… and which very much are not (fingers included 😉).

Socially, Marjorie is a happy, affectionate girl who thrives on connection. She currently lives with a foster brother her same size and absolutely adores him. They chase, wrestle, play, and snuggle together, and having a canine companion has helped her learn routine, structure, and boundaries. While she could do well as an only dog with strong leadership and engagement, Marjorie would truly thrive in a home with another playful, well-mannered dog.

She’s still learning that love is unlimited — when attention is given to another dog, Marjorie may enthusiastically barge in (affectionately nicknamed “Marj the Barge”) to make sure she gets her share too. With gentle correction and reassurance that she’s “next,” she’s learning patience and manners. She has never shown aggression — just a whole lot of excitement and joy.

Marjorie has made wonderful progress with obedience and boundaries. She’s learning to sit, wait, be patient, respect mealtimes, and keep her jumping in check (even though she’s convinced the couch is her personal launch pad). She was initially scared of collars, harnesses, and leashes, but with consistency and encouragement, she’s learned to walk nicely and continues to build confidence every day.

When it comes to kids, Marjorie has done great with dog-savvy, school-aged children (8–10 years old), enjoying playtime and snuggles. Because she’s still learning boundaries and can’t contain her excitement when greeting people, a home with children under 6 would require supervision and guidance. With structure, she has the potential to do beautifully with kids of all ages.

Cats are unknown, but given her strong desire to chase squirrels, a no-cat home would be the safest fit.

Marjorie is a big-time lover, an enthusiastic toy hoarder, a playful pup, and a cuddle champion all wrapped into one adorable Frenchie package. She’s looking for a home that understands puppy energy, can offer guidance and structure, and is ready for a lifetime of laughs, love, and squeaky toys.

If you’re searching for a fun-loving, affectionate, people-adoring girl who will fill your home with joy (and toys in every corner), Marjorie just might be your perfect match. 💕🐾

Marjorie’s foster family is so proud of the incredible progress she’s made with potty training! When she first arrived, she didn’t yet understand how to hold her potty and would simply go wherever she was — but with consistency, structure, and the help of her foster brother modeling the routine, Marjorie has truly blossomed.

She’s now learning to go to the door when she needs to go out and does wonderfully following a predictable schedule. First thing in the morning? Potty time. Waking up from a nap? Potty time. After breakfast and dinner? You guessed it — potty time! Since her foster works from home, Marjorie currently goes outside about every 2–3 hours, and she’s doing an amazing job holding her potty longer and longer each day. Continuing this kind of structured routine in her forever home will set her up for continued success — and as with any puppy, a little grace and patience during the transition is expected.

Marjorie is also crate trained and does well with her kennel routine. While she doesn’t always choose to go into her crate on her own when it’s “officially” crate time, she happily walks in with a little coaxing and settles nicely once inside. Interestingly, when it’s not crate time, she’ll often wander in on her own to explore or relax, showing that she sees it as a safe space. She sleeps in her crate at night, takes naps there, and remains crated when her humans are away — and she has been accident-free in her crate.

At first, Marjorie wasn’t a big fan of the crate, but having her foster brother crated nearby has brought her a lot of comfort and calm. During a recent sleepover where she was the only dog, she did cry some in her crate but was able to settle down. She may also offer a little morning protest if her people aren’t up fast enough — more of a “hey, it’s time to start the day!” whine than true distress.

For her safety and continued training, it’s recommended that Marjorie continue to be crated when left unsupervised. With her puppy curiosity, active nature, and love of chewing, the crate helps keep her safe while reinforcing good habits. With consistency, reassurance, and love, Marjorie is well on her way to becoming a rock-star house dog in her forever home! 🐾💖

Medically, Marjorie seems to be in great health. She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian.

Marjorie is a flexible, adaptable French Bulldog puppy who could thrive in a variety of home environments — from apartments to houses, single adopters to families — as long as her people understand that she’s still learning structure, boundaries, and the rhythms of everyday life. What matters most to Marjorie isn’t the type of home, but being close to her humans and having guidance, patience, and consistency as she continues to grow.

A fully fenced yard is strongly recommended for Marjorie’s ongoing safety, as she loves to explore, sniff everything, and occasionally sample the world with her mouth. If a fenced yard is not available, she must be outside on a secure harness and leash at all times — she’s curious, quick, and could dart off in a second if something catches her attention. With proper supervision, she truly enjoys outdoor time and was reported to absolutely love exploring a fenced yard during a recent sleepover.

Marjorie would do well in an apartment or shared setting, as she’s not an excessive barker, but her puppy curiosity and enthusiasm mean she’ll need regular outings and enrichment. On warmer winter days, she’s enjoyed walks and happily sniffed her way through the neighborhood, soaking in all the sights and smells. She’s learning leash skills and continues to improve with each outing.

After playtime, Marjorie is a total cuddle bug — but she’s also energetic, inquisitive, and loves greeting new people with uncontainable excitement. Sometimes she needs gentle reminders that naps are important too! She adores being near her humans at all times, often carrying her favorite chew toy along wherever she goes.

For adopters who work outside the home, Marjorie does well in her kennel, but she will need a midday break. Because she’s still a young, active puppy, it wouldn’t be ideal for her to be crated overnight and then for a full workday without a potty and play break. A dog walker or pet sitter would be a great fit for her needs.

Marjorie is learning to love car rides — she was initially nervous, but she’s making great progress and is becoming more comfortable in her car seat. She’s also conquered stairs like a champ! While she was initially unsure, she now tackles the stairs her humans use daily with confidence. New stairs or unfamiliar flooring may take her a moment to warm up to, but with encouragement, she adjusts well.

Marjorie would thrive in a home that can offer her continued training, structure, and lots of interaction. She would do beautifully with another playful dog, as having a canine companion has helped her learn routines and boundaries.

In the time she’s been with her foster family, Marjorie has brought endless joy, laughter, and love. She’s mastered the art of snuggling, thoroughly enjoys daily wrestling matches with her foster brother, hands out kisses freely, and is always ready to launch into spontaneous zoomies that turn any room into her personal racetrack. She’s a total sweetheart with just the right splash of stubborn Frenchie puppy charm — and whichever family is lucky enough to adopt her will be gaining an incredible companion for life. 🐾💖

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Marjorie, please submit an adoption application for her today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
