Mallorie’s Story
Mallorie was surrendered to SNAFU Rescue via a private party. To no fault of her own, her owners surrendered her back to the shelter they adopted her from YEARS later and the shelter reached out to her as they wanted her to be placed in a loving home and to live out her retirement years.
Mallorie is the perfect picture of a senior English Bulldog who embodies the meaning of laidback. She’s lazy by nature, often opting for a cozy nap on the couch or a relaxing stretch in the sun. However, her calm demeanor shifts the moment she’s around her people—nothing excites Mallorie more than the company of her humans. She’s deeply bonded to her family and thrives on being part of their everyday life, whether that’s lounging beside them during quiet evenings or following them around the house with her signature, curious enthusiasm. Despite her age, Mallorie’s outgoing and inquisitive personality shines through. She has never met a stranger, greeting everyone she encounters with a warm and friendly attitude. Her laid back charm combined with her love of companionship makes her a natural fit for families with children. Mallorie is particularly well-suited to homes with kids, as her gentle, mild-mannered temperament ensures she can handle their company without ever feeling overwhelmed. Her patience and loving nature create a peaceful environment wherever she goes. One of Mallorie’s quirkiest traits is her fondness for empty water bottles. Unlike other dogs who might chew or destroy toys, Mallorie delights in the simple pleasure of the crinkling noise they make. You’ll often find her playing with one in her soft, playful way, making it a constant source of entertainment without causing any damage. While Mallorie enjoys her moments of relaxation indoors, she has a love for the outdoors, especially when the weather is cooler. She’ll happily explore the yard or sit contentedly, soaking in the fresh air. This girl loves to lounge but can’t resist the allure of a cool, sunny day to stretch her legs and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Mallorie is looking for a low-key family who appreciates the slower pace of life. She would thrive in a home that offers plenty of quiet time, balanced with moments of affectionate companionship. While she doesn’t demand constant attention, she’ll always be nearby, finding comfort in simply being in the same room as her people. Mallorie is the perfect dog for a family seeking a loyal, easygoing companion to share their home and hearts with during her well-deserved retirement years. She does GREAT around children and other dogs. Mallorie is calm and gentle and graciously accepts human attention over anything. We feel she would do best with children of any age who are calm, gentle, and dog-savvy. As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to both other dogs and children are a must to ensure everyone is kept safe.
Mallorie is doing amazingly well with potty training. She does amazing going outside and coming back in on command. Mallorie’s adoptive family will need to be willing and able to keep her on a regular and consistent schedule for her continued potty training success as she is a senior and has to go outside more often. She has done great with crate training, loves going inside, and will graciously walk in when the door is opened. She will sleep quietly in her crate with no issues during the day when his foster family happens to leave the home. She does sleep in her crate at night and will have potty accidents. She is diapered at night to assist with the cleanup. For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure while no one is home. She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home.
Medically, Mallorie seems to be in good health. Mallorie has been spayed, had a dental with extractions, and entropian eye surgery, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, is microchipped, and has been given the ok for adoption by our veterinarian! Mallorie is a senior dog and given her aging joints, she is offered a good quality joint supplement to help lubricate her joints. She also has dry eye in her right eye and is offered a nightly OTC lubricant to assist with the dryness.
Mallorie would do well in almost any type of home but a ranch-style house with a fenced yard with little to no stairs will be preferred for her (as opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling with many stairs) as she does well going up and down a few stairs but does so ever so slowly. A ground-level apartment with an adjacent fenced-in yard would be okay for her as she is an overall quiet dog that needs easy and quick access to an outdoor space. A fenced-in yard is NOT a requirement as Mallorie is not quick on her feet but she should always be secured with a leash and harness while being monitored outdoors. She would prefer a quiet and relaxed family that is slowing down their lifestyle as she is. Mallorie is looking for a family to snuggle with, watch TV, and offer her her most favorite snacks and unlimited belly rubs. We think she’d love to go to work with her new family as Mallorie loves to ride in the car, and prefers being around her people as long as the office environment is quiet and she has a comfy bed to nap all day in. You are not able to take her to work -no problem! She very much enjoys the comfort of her space and bed at home. She is completely happy sleeping the day away in her gated area as long as her people can arrange a mid-day potty break or two for her!
Mallorie is a super sweet girl who is slowing down her lifestyle and is looking for a family to call her very own! If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for her, please submit an adoption application for Mallorie today!!
disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
