Lyles’s Story
Lyles came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.
Lyles is a 6-month-old French Bulldog with a laid-back, affectionate nature that makes him the perfect addition to any home. While still growing into his personality, Lyles is already showing himself to be a calm, loving, and loyal pup who thrives on human companionship. Whether he’s curled up on your lap, happily trailing behind you as you go about your day, or playing with his toys, Lyles is always looking for ways to connect with his people.
Though Lyles is the definition of a “chill” pup, he also has moments of playful puppy energy. He loves to carry toys around in his mouth, occasionally tossing them in the air and chasing after them. He’s particularly fond of bones and can often be found happily chewing away or proudly parading around with his latest prize. Like most puppies, Lyles is still curious about the world around him, and his natural puppy curiosity sometimes leads him to “borrow” your shoes—but rest assured, he’s more interested in carrying them around than chewing them up! His playfulness is balanced by his gentle and easygoing nature, which makes him a great fit for just about any household.
Lyles gets along beautifully with other animals, whether big or small. He’s been living with his Frenchie sister and loves to engage in gentle play with her. His interactions with other dogs are always friendly, and he’s equally comfortable around cats. He’s curious about his feline friends but never aggressive or overly excitable, making him a great choice for a multi-pet household.
Though he’s a laid-back little guy, Lyles still has those classic bursts of puppy enthusiasm. Sometimes his energy comes out when he’s chasing after toys or running around outside. He loves being outdoors and can spend time soaking up the sun or just sniffing around, enjoying the fresh air. Like any young dog, Lyles is still learning his boundaries and figuring out the world around him, so his forever family will need to be patient and provide gentle guidance. He’s smart, eager to learn, and loves his treats, so with positive reinforcement, he’s sure to catch on quickly!
Despite his moments of playful energy, Lyles is never far from his favorite place: right by your side. He’s incredibly loyal and will follow you from room to room, keeping an eye on what you’re doing and waiting for the perfect opportunity to cuddle. Lyles is the ultimate “Velcro dog” who thrives on human interaction and just wants to be part of the family. When he’s not in play mode, you can expect him to be in full snuggle mode, curled up next to you or on your lap, content and happy to be with his people.
Lyles walks well on a leash and has excellent recall, always coming when called because he never wants to be too far from his favorite humans. Whether you’re looking for a walking buddy or just a snuggle partner for those cozy nights in, Lyles is the perfect mix of playful energy and calm companionship. This sweet boy is also very social. He goes to work with his foster family every day, where he meets new people and quickly charms everyone with his gentle, easygoing demeanor. Lyles has a calm confidence that makes him comfortable in a variety of environments, whether it’s at home, outdoors, or in a social setting. He’s adaptable and adjusts well to new experiences, but like all puppies, he will need continued guidance and training to grow into a well-rounded adult dog.
Though Lyles is naturally more relaxed than the typical high-energy puppy, he still exhibits puppy behavior, so his adoptive family should be prepared to provide him with appropriate outlets for his energy, like playtime, chew toys, and regular walks. As he’s still learning, he’ll also need structure, guidance, and patient correction to help him grow into a well-mannered dog. Fortunately, Lyles is not only smart but also eager to please, making him a joy to train. Given his overall sociable and docile personality we think he would do great with children of all ages and thrive in a home with a well-manned pup or two to help guide him along the way. As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs AND supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both he and they are kept safe.
Lyles is still working on potty training and quickly picked it up. Again, he is a smart young dog and quickly picks up on things, mimics his foster sibling’s behavior, and adapts well to routines. Lyles has already shown he’s a quick learner, especially when treats are involved. He’s highly food-motivated and eager to please, making him a great candidate for continued training. Lyles is still a young dog and as with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with him, offering him a consistent schedule and working with him on a signal for potty/going outside. He’s learning basic commands and doing well with his crate training. He will go in with a treat and a toy and does well in his crate when his foster family happens to be away from the home. He is such a snuggle bug and he must be as close as possible to those he loves the most and for that reason, we know Lyles will insist on sharing a human bed at night along with a pillow to rest his precious little head like he does currently in his foster home. Lyles is a great sleeper and is content to nap the day away as long as he knows he’s in a safe and comfortable place. For his safety, we recommend a similar crating/sleeping schedule be kept for him.
Medically, Lyles seems to be in great health. He has been neutered, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, and has been given the okay for adoption by our veterinarian.
Lyles would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard due to his curious, explorative nature and because he is still putting the final touches on potty training (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard). Lyles would do great in a variety of home environments. He’s happy to be the center of attention as an only dog, but he’s equally content living alongside other pets. His calm nature and adaptability mean he would be a good match for a family with other animals, including dogs or cats. His foster family believes he’d also do well in a home with children, especially those who are dog-savvy and understand how to handle a puppy’s sometimes excitable energy. Lyles does great with steps in his foster home. He is still a young dog who is still learning boundaries, so he must be supervised while romping around the yard and sunning his Frenchie buns. Overall, Lyles is just the sweetest little love bug! He enjoys any attention, snuggle hour, wrestling sessions, playtime with his furry friends, and all people (big and small). Ultimately, he is looking for a home that has the time and patience to help guide him into a balanced adult dog, a home with another furry sibling or two, and one that isn’t gone long hours as he will need a potty break during the day. Lyles currently goes to the office with his foster mom and is reported to be the pawfect gentleman! He would love to continue to go to work with his adoptive family if possible but also would love a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home-family member. He’s the total package—sweet, playful, cuddly, and social—just waiting for the right home to come along. Whether you’re looking for a loyal companion to follow you around the house, a snuggle buddy for movie nights, or a gentle playmate for your other pets, Lyles could be the perfect addition to your family.
If you think Lyles is the one for you, don’t wait—this beautiful boy is ready to fill your home with love, cuddles, and endless puppy joy. If you feel Lyles your family might be the perfect forever home for Lyles, please submit an adoption application for him today!!
disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
