Kylie’s Story
Kylie found her way into SNAFU via a private party. Her family wanted her to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled, loved, and live out her life as a cherished pet!
Kylie is an active, playful, attention-seeking, social, and friendly Pug. She loves to do nothing but follow around her furry housemate and her beloved people. She loves romping around the house and exploring every inch of her surroundings to see what she can play with. Kylie continues her attempts to get the resident dog to play but unfortunately, her furry friend is not the playing type. After he failed attempts, she will take again to romping around the house getting her little paws on any toy or bone she can find. She is often in search of her favorite watermelon toy! After she has played her heart out she will settle into her soft bed or comfy couch with her favorite bone. She will nibble away until her eyes meet any human walking about the home and that is her cue to see if she can get some attention from them. Kylie will never turn down pets, scratchies, or some cuddle time with her people. If she still has some play energy left, she will request her daily walk to show off her mastered leash skills. Even though she has a very outgoing personality inside her foster home, Kylie does have a bit of an uneasy side meeting new people on a leash; this is EXCLUSIVE to being on a leash. After absolutely exhausting herself from a Pug-suited walk, Kylie will always look for her people to partake in a cuddle session during her snooze. She is the definition of a “velcro pug” and truly just wants to be with her people all the time as she finds comfort in their presence and the attention she is offered. Kylie’s days start and end with run, play, snuggle… wash rinse repeat! Her overall fun, rambunctious, happy disposition allows her to get along with every being she meets whether furry or human. Kylie is still a young dog and she comes with all the young dog tendencies; finger nibbles, jumping, etc. She needs some basic direction/ training to learn what is expected of her in the home. She doesn’t know danger and she should always be supervised as she tends to find items she is not supposed to get into! She has a very lovable and fun temperament which is favorable when she is around other dogs. Kylie seems to get along with any dog; with proper, slow introductions we feel she would do just fine with big or small dogs! She recently visited a dog park and was very respectful of other dogs’ social cues and ran around with all her instant new furry friends! She has yet to meet any human, big or small, that she hasn’t fallen head over paws for. Because of her lighthearted disposition, we feel Kylie will do perfectly well with a passive playful dog of any size and with dog-savvy, gentle, respectful children of any age (she is still in the puppy nibbling phase). She is also cat-friendly! We also feel Kylie would thrive in a multi-dog household as she emulates other dog behaviors and picks up quickly on what is expected in the home and proper dog manners. Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and she should always be supervised to make sure both she and they are kept safe.
Kylie has. nearly mastered potty training and her foster family reports her accidents are few and far between; her foster family reports she is 95% trained! As with all of our dogs, any adopter must be patient and willing to continue working on her potty training success as she acclimates to his new home and surroundings. She is still a young dog in need of a consistent outside routine and a signal for potty. Kylie is crate-trained and does not have any accidents in her crate but does not prefer her crate at all. Being away from her people in a crate causes her great anxiety. Instead, Kylie is offered a dog-safe space to enjoy while her people are away from the home. She sleeps quietly when her foster family happens to be away from the home and adorably will rest her little head on a comfy blanket. She does share a bed with her foster family and would love to continue to offer snuggles to her new family! This is a MUST for Kylie to keep her anxiety at bay.
Medically, Kylie is in great health! She has been spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested, and updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! She does suffer from pesky allergies and is offered a daily allergy pill in addition to a cytopoint injection during high allergy seasons.
Kylie would do great in any type of home! She is a champ with the stairs and since she does love to explore the yard, and has a tendency to run and play, a house with a completely closed fenced yard will be preferred for her (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling). If offered a LONG daily walk and always be secured with a harness and leash, Kylie could do well in a home without a fully fenced-in yard. Since Kylie is quite a people’s Pug, we think she would love to eventually go to work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office. She does still need to work on some basic training before entering the workspace but with consistent work she would do just fine! If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem at all – she’s completely happy sleeping at home for a few hours as long as she has a warm soft blanket, a furry friend and her people can arrange for a potty break for her! She would thrive in a home that allowed for a hybrid type schedule. Being home with her people during the work day (whether full or part time) would be beneficial to her ongoing happiness. Kylie is a fun little puglet looking for a home that has an active family to dote on her, can be included in most family outdoor activities, can offer her the exercise she desires, an engaging furry friend to play with and lots of love and attention. Kylie is still a young dog that will require a little extra patience as she is guided into what is expected of her. She is such a goofy little girl that will offer a family so much joy, love and happiness. Kylie is a typical Velcro Pug that is more relaxed when her people are around more. Please be prepared for the ongoing care requirements that are needed to take care of a young dog. Kylie is full of energy and needs a family that is willing to dote on her and able to match her energy levels!
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Kylie, please submit an adoption application for her.
disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
