Juno’s Story
Juno came into SNAFU Rescue as a stray. A good samaritan wanted her to find a rescue and be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.
Juno is a sweet, calm, respectful, and well-mannered little Frenchie girl who loves to be near her favorite humans at all times. She seeks attention and prefers to be everywhere and anywhere her foster family is. Juno actively seeks the attention, pets, and snuggles from every human she’s met. She is very persistent in her demands for pets but will resign to a nap on a dog bed if a lap and hand aren’t available. She does love her nap time! There is not a couch or lap that Juno won’t lay on during her many daily naps. Juno gets very excited to see people and will beeline straight to them for some good pets. When Juno isn’t shadowing her foster family everywhere they go you can find her chewing on a bone or playing with one of her foster pack. Juno is a very confident little Frenchie who is very quick to play with her foster pack of 5. She currently lives with both big and small dogs, as well as male and female and she gets along smashingly with them all. Her confidence allowed her to play quickly and even try to play with the members of the pack who really would rather not play. She is unbothered by their aloofness and is unphased if they correct her and ask for space. She has shown herself to be quite bulletproof with other dogs. She matches the energy of her surroundings and has adapted to every situation and circumstance with ease. She is still learning personal space and because of her overall expectation that everyone loves her, she will softly jump on your leg to get your attention. That includes begging for pets at every one of your bathroom breaks throughout the day. She is still learning boundaries and does need to be told no, even when she’s trying extra hard to be as cute as possible! Juno is also quick to treat her foster home as her own, taking it upon herself to protect her home and family from every possible threat, including the neighbors, a duck, or a dog she spots from across the lake. She has displayed some territorial tendencies that we’re quite certain could form into a great pack leader with the right guidance from her human pack leader. She is dealing with a big transition and as such will need a patient and understanding family. Juno enjoys napping with her furry friends as well. Juno mimics the other dogs in the home and does well-taking cues from them. Juno enjoys the company of her humans the most, but a close second would be treats and feeding time. She is still learning the ways of pet life and finds comfort in being with her human but living with at least one other balanced dog will certainly help her continue to learn and grow into the pampered pet she’s meant to be. As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to other dogs in the household are a must. Juno has been around children and did great, so her foster family believes she would be fine with calm, dog-savvy, respectful children of any age, but also fine with no kids in the home. She should always be supervised when she is around children to make sure both she and they are kept safe.
Juno’s foster family happily reports she’s well on her way to being potty trained! She made fast progress and picked it up quickly! She hasn’t learned to signal to go out just yet, but if let out every couple of hours she’s done fine with that. Her adoptive family will need to be patient, willing, and able to keep her on a regular and consistent schedule for her continued potty-training success. Juno is not a fan of the crate. Luckily her foster mom works from home, so she’s not had to be crated after the first few nights with them. She will sleep the entire night without any accidents. Her foster family trusts her to roam free when they are away from home, but that is typically only for a few hours. If her adoptive family needs to be away for longer periods she would likely do fine confined to a smaller space if they choose not to allow her to roam free. Juno does not know danger and is still learning how to be a pet. Since she loves her humans so much and is quite the snuggle bug, her foster family has allowed her to share their bed. She is great at finding a small spot where she can lay beside her human and typically lays her tiny head on their shoulder or pillow to be as close as possible to them.
Medically, Juno seems to be in great health! She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian.
Juno is a very adaptable dog, and we think she would do great in almost any type of home. We don’t think Juno would be a good pet for a multiple-floor apartment-style home as she can be quite vocal. She is a wiz at stairs and is very athletic in general. A fenced-in yard is required for Juno. She has proven to be very curious and has found spots to squeak out of in her current yard, so a very secure yard is a must, as well as a very watchful eye. She may be the fastest Frenchie there ever was, so her new family will need to be very mindful of where she is at all times. Work from home or a stay-at-home parent? Juno would love that!!! Otherwise, we think she’d love to go to work with her new family, as she prefers not to be away from her people! If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem at all – she will need a safe space that is not a crate and a mid-day potty break. Juno is looking for a family to call her very own. She is a little chameleon and picks up on the characteristics of those she loves the most. Juno is the perfect balance of active and laidback, with a sprinkle of calm confidence!

disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
