Jenkins’s Story

Jenkins came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Jenkins is a playful and affectionate almost 12-month-old French Bulldog puppy with a wonderful mix of energy and snuggly charm. This sweet little guy has a fun-loving personality, and while he can be shy at first with new people or in unfamiliar surroundings, he quickly warms up with patience and gentle encouragement.

Jenkins is active and outgoing with other dogs, enjoying playful games of fetch, tug-of-war, and chase with his foster sisters, who range in size from 12 to 100 pounds. He’s happy to romp and wrestle with dogs of any size or gender, making him an adaptable companion for homes with other pets. After playtime, Jenkins loves to relax, curling up on a cozy lap for a good cuddle or chewing on his favorite benebones alongside his furry friends.

Though Jenkins doesn’t have a favorite toy, he adores toys in general! He’ll enthusiastically empty the toy bin to pick out just the right one to play with. His curious and playful nature makes him a joy to watch as he explores and engages with his surroundings.

Jenkins does best when he has time to adjust to new people and places, as he can be timid initially. His forever family will need to provide him with a safe, supportive environment and give him the time he needs to feel secure. Once he’s comfortable, Jenkins’s outgoing personality shines through, and he’s eager to connect and share his love.

Though Jenkins is naturally more relaxed than the typical high-energy puppy, he still exhibits puppy behavior, so his adoptive family should be prepared to provide him with appropriate outlets for his energy, like playtime, chew toys, and regular walks. As he’s still learning, he’ll also need structure, guidance, and patient correction to help him grow into a well-mannered dog. Fortunately, Jenkins is not only smart but also eager to please, making him a joy to train. Given his overall sociable and docile personality we think he would do great with children of all ages and thrive in a home with a well-manned pup or two to help guide him along the way.  As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs AND supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both he and they are kept safe.

Medically, Jenkins is in great health. He has been neutered, nares widened, updated on vaccinations and dewormings, microchipped, and cleared for adoption by the veterinarian. He does have a medial luxated left patella that does not at this current time need surgical intervention but should be monitored over time.  He would benefit from a daily good quality joint supplement to help lubricate his joints.

Jenkins is still mastering potty training but is making excellent progress with a consistent schedule and positive reinforcement. Again, he is a smart young dog and quickly picks up on things, mimics his foster sibling’s behavior, and adapts well to routines. Jenkins is still a young dog and as with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with him, offering him a consistent schedule and working with him on a signal for potty/going outside. Jenkins is crate-trained and remains accident-free in his crate.  He will go in with a treat and a toy and does well in his crate when his foster family happens to be away from the home. He will let out a little whine when he has to go potty.  He is such a snuggle bug and he must be as close as possible to those he loves the most and for that reason, we know Jenkins will insist on sharing a human bed at night! Jenkins is a great sleeper and is content to nap the day away as long as he knows he’s in a safe and comfortable place. For his safety, we recommend a similar crating/sleeping schedule be kept for him.

Jenkins would thrive in a home with another playful dog to help him build confidence and burn off his puppy energy. While he’s adaptable, he’d do best in a home with a yard where he can run and explore safely, rather than a multiple-floor apartment without outdoor access. A fully fenced-in yard would be best for Jenkins as he is a young dog learning boundaries and commands.  He will run if not properly secured with a leash and harness. A home with stairs would be okay; he has mastered a few stairs and with time and encouragement he will be able to conquer larger staircases.  Given his sweet, sensitive personality, Jenkins would do well in a home with dog-savvy children who understand how to interact gently with a puppy. He would also benefit from a family that isn’t gone for long hours during the day, as he still needs potty breaks and attention. Jenkins would love to enjoy an office setting if allowed to accompany his adoptive family to their workplace!  Otherwise, a part-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member would be amazing for this little guy!

Ultimately, Jenkins is looking for a loving home that will provide him with the care, patience, and companionship he needs to grow into a confident and well-rounded adult dog. With his playful energy, cuddly nature, and love for his people, Jenkins is sure to fill his forever home with endless joy and affection.

If you think Jenkins could be the perfect addition to your family, don’t wait—submit an application for this sweet boy today! He’s ready to share his cuddles, playfulness, and heartwarming personality with his forever family.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
