Jasmine’s Story

Jasmine came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Jasmine is a sweet but timid, smart, laidback, calm little Frenchie girl.  She takes a cautious approach to life as she is still building her confidence in her foster home. Jasmine requires a little bit of time to warm up to new people/environments before she is comfortable sharing the same space with them.  Jasmine’s happy place is in the presence of her people and around her furry friends!  Although she is an overall reserved dog with a mellow temperament, she will partake in LOTS of play with her foster siblings (she will ABSOLUTELY initiate the play). Jasmine has a lot of spunk and hops around trying to get her furry friends to engage in some playtime.  Playtime is the BEST time.  She will stop at nothing to display her outgoing personality with her furry friends.  Jasmine enjoys all the stuffed toys and nibbles on her beloved Benebone when passing the time until she is ready to start the party again.  She really is such a happy dog around those she loves the most. She has learned that a soft fluffy bed on the floor is for her to use.  Like the princess she is, she now loves plush beds, soft blankets, and comfy rugs and likes many naps throughout the day. Jasmine is learning to trust and therefore learning to cuddle.  If ear scratches are on the menu, Jasmine is first in line!  She has such a passive disposition and willingly gives up her prized possession to another furry creature if they want it.  Jasmine is still learning the joys of pet life and can be apprehensive around new people/situations, she requires a patient, low-key/calm, and understanding family that can help her build confidence in a new environment and around strangers.  She will also need a family who is willing to spend extra time with her, provide the space she requires, offer her ongoing patience, and introduce her slowly to new things to build her confidence.  Jasmine currently lives with several furry foster siblings and BEGS to interact with them.  She likes all of them and gets along with them and her confidence shines when in their presence.  Jasmine is experiencing a big change and because of that, she needs consistent leadership, and positive reinforcement to help her learn proper dog manners in her adoptive home; she is very treat motivated!  She seems to get along well with every human she meets after warming up to them.  Jasmine can be shy at first but can easily be won over with some pets and some scratches behind her ears.  Due to her overall calm, sweet yet passive disposition, we think she would do best in a home that has dog-savvy, calm, gentle children of any age.  She has 4 children in her foster home ranging from 2-12.  She is super great with all of them and will sweetly sit on the floor with the youngest accepting gentle hugs and lots of treats. Slow introductions and supervision around children are a must to be sure they and she are kept safe.  She is slowly learning manners and we believe should benefit from a balanced, PLAYFUL fur buddy in her adoptive home.  This is NOT optional for Jasmine… she thrives around other dogs and would excel in a home that has a buddy for her to emulate and learn what pet life is all about.

Jasmine’s foster family happily reports she is making great strides in potty training when kept on a consistent schedule and when taken out with the other resident dogs.  She will greatly benefit from a signal for potty.  Her adoptive family must be willing to continue to keep her on a regular and consistent schedule to help with potty training in her new home.  Jasmine is completely crate-trained and will often retreat to her “safe space” when feeling overwhelmed.   For her safety, we recommend a similar crating arrangement when her people happen to be away from the home.  She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home.

Medically, Jasmine seems to be in great health!  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, had a dental, nares widened, palate shortened, her tonsils removed, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian.

Jasmine would be happiest in a house with a fenced yard (as opposed to a multiple-floor, shared-walled apartment-style dwelling with no yard) because she is still potty training,  and also loves to roam and explore the yard with her best friends in tow. Jasmine has mastered the stairs so a multi-level home would be okay for her!  Ideally, Jasmine is searching for a family that has a work-from-home or stay-at-home parent (one that is not gone a lot during the day) however we do think she is a candidate for an office environment as she loves being around her people all day!  Jasmine has been spoiled by a stay-at-home foster mom.  Cannot stay at home or take her to the office, that is okay! Jasmine will be completely happy sleeping a few hours away in her crate as long as she has a fur buddy to keep her company and a soft blanket to rest her precious head on.  Again, Jasmine is still learning the ways of pet life, and learning to trust, and needs a family (and a dog best friend) to help build her confidence.  She would love a family that can offer her companionship, unlimited pets/ear scratchies, and a home to help her overcome the timidness toward humans that remains.  She has made tremendous daily improvements and just needs a little extra patience as she learns how to “pet”. Jasmine is coming out of her shell more and more every day!  This girl has a lot of energy to burn, thinks dog friends are the best friends and has a ton of love inside her that will make a loyal and loving companion.  Jasmine is such a smart girl!  She has come a long way during her time in rescue and continues to prosper in pet life.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
