Jack Sparrow’s Story

Jack Sparrow found his way into SNAFU via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled, loved, and live out his life as a cherished pet!

Jack Sparrow has a quiet, super chill, laidback, gentle, and reserved disposition.  He is the ultimate snuggle bug who enjoys couch time!  His favorite pastimes include hanging around his humans, following his humans, sitting on the lap of his humans, and cuddling his humans.  Yes, Jack Sparrow is very much a Velcro Frenchie!!!  He is such a friendly, happy boy who loves extra cuddles and being snuggled.  Jackie (as he is affectionately referred to) enjoys the company of other animals (dogs his size) but most would prefer not to share the love, pets, and attention offered.  He gingerly will commandeer the lap or hands of the person offering affection.  Jackie will crawl across his human most gently and place his entire body on their legs.  He is in no way aggressive rather he will nudge his way to get what he wants.  When he isn’t super-glued to his beloved human, you can find him trotting around the backyard and occasionally will enter into a full-on sprint only to quickly rest for a moment in the sunshine!  When his foster siblings are enjoying the outdoors with him, he will partake in a gentle wrestling session and often will start that fun up again right before bedtime.  Although he prefers constant attention from his human, he doesn’t beg, whine or make demands. After a perfect amount of time soaking up the outdoor sunshine, Jackie will search for a warm place to snuggle up or preferably find a lap for a much-needed nap or even grab a nylabone for a quick nibble before laying down his precious head.  Did we mention napping and snuggles again?!?!  Jackie will always look for his people to partake in a cuddle session during his snooze.  He truly just wants to be with his people all the time as he finds comfort in their presence if they happen to be in the same room as he is.  Jackie’s overall relaxed disposition allows him to get along with his furry foster siblings his size. He mostly has a very kind temperament which is favorable when he is around other dogs.  There is a bigger dog in his foster home and for some reason, Jack does not take to her at all.  It is believed Jackie can pick up on the lack of confidence she has and exploits it.  He has yet to meet any human that he hasn’t fallen head over paw for!  Because of his lighthearted, gentle, and calm disposition, we feel Jackie will do perfectly well with other balanced dogs equal to his size and with do-savvy, gentle, respectful children of any age.  We also feel Jack would thrive with other furry creatures but would much rather be in the only dog household as he enjoys all the human attention to himself.  Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and he should always be supervised to make sure both he and they are kept safe.

Jack is working on potty training!  This is a whole new world to him and he is making some progress every single day!!  As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be patient and willing to continue working on his potty training as he acclimates to his new home and surroundings.  Jack will need a signal for potty.  He is 100% crate trained and does not have any accidents while crated but shares his displeasure.  Jack should never be kenneled when his people are home as being away from them causes such anxiety.  Jackie does sleep in a human bed in the evening and would love to continue to share a bed and offer many cuddles with his new family!

Medically, Jack Sparrow is in great health!  He has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, nares widened, tonsils removed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!  Jackie does have a low-grade luxating patella. Surgery is NOT needed or recommended at this time however his knees should be monitored.

Jack Sparrow would do great in any type of home!  Although he can do a few stairs, his preference is to be carried down/up larger staircases as conquering them is beneath him.  A home with a fully fenced yard will be preferred for Jackie as he does like his time outdoors, working on potty training, and perfecting his leash skills.  A multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling would be okay for Jackie as long as it is on the first floor (with little to no stairs) with an adjacent fenced area.  He does love to sniff and explore outside and is happy to do so in an adjacent fenced-in yard.  Since Jack Sparrow is a quiet, chill little boy, we think he would love to go to work with his new family if they wanted to take him with them to the office once he is fully potty trained.  He would really love it If his family had a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home parent as he enjoys the company of his humans SO MUCH.  Jackie is a little snuggle bug looking for a family that can offer unlimited lap time, allow him to be held like a baby, offer many belly scratches, and have lots of love and attention. He will repay all the love with his unwavering loyalty!  Jackie is truly the sweetest boy that so desperately wants to be the apple of someone’s eye. He needs attention, proper guidance, and patience in a home with a carefree attitude and a more lazy lifestyle. He cherishes his time with his people on the couch cuddling watching TV and really just being with them all the time.  Jackie is an easy-going sweet, squishy soft, and loving boy that will make his favorite people feel like they are the most important people in the world!!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Jack Sparrow, please submit an adoption application for him.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
