Indie’s Story

Indie came into the SNAFU Rescue via a shelter. She was found a stray and needed some medical attention and a breed-specific rescue to ensure she would be properly placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled and live out her life as a cherished pet.

Indie is a sweet, funny, friendly, affectionate, food-motivated, playful yet laid-back Frenchie girl who is an absolute love bug!  She is starting to play with her toys and chase the balls around but also has quite the chill side once her puppy energy is out.  This exuberant girl is very social with a fondness for nap time.  Indie is quick to warm up to new people (big and furry) and can easily make new friends by flirting her way into their hearts.  She absolutely adores receiving attention, being pet and scratched by her humans, and receiving extra attention from the resident teenage boy.  Indie adores the outdoors and often requests time outside to wander all around the fenced-in yard taking in all the smells and watching the neighborhood happenings.  After a good romp around the yard, you can find Indie searching for her beloved Benebone and settling in for a quiet chew session.  After she tires of her bone, she will take a long snooze in her comfy bed when the household is quiet and settled.  Make one movement… Indie is quick to jump up and follow around her favorite humans.  She definitely does not want to miss out on anything; a major case of FOMO.  She MUST be everywhere with her humans and her furry friend. Indie is a typical adorable young girl… every day is play, play, nap, play, play, nap; wash-rinse-repeat!   She worships all known humans, pretty much any person or pup she can convince to provide her with enjoyment, attention, treats, and affection. She is overall well-behaved, and respectful around humans and other dogs but does have those typical playful nibbles when excited. She will need a patient and understanding family to help guide her into proper dog behaviors, offer her much-needed stimulation to release all her energy, and learn commands and what is expected of her in the home. Because she is still learning manners, we feel she would do best in a home with children 8 years or older who are calm, respectful, gentle, and dog-savvy.  Indie can resource guard her high-valued items around her humans; not other animals. If placed in a home with other dogs, it is recommended she be fed separately.  This unwanted behavior is being worked on in her foster home.  She also will butt her way to the front of the line when attention is being offered; she has a little bit of a jealous side. In addition, we feel Indie would thrive in a home with a well-balanced furry friend to show her the ropes of pet life as she mimics all dog behaviors and tries to engage her furry friends in play.  Indie would also do very well as an only pet as she loves all the attention on her!  As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and she should always be supervised to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Indie is fully potty trained and her foster home reports that she made such fast progress!   She has been consistently going potty outside and will wait by the door when she needs to go outside. A regular and consistent schedule will help with continued potty training in her new home.  As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with her as she adapts to another home’s schedule.  She would benefit from a signal for potty if the door is not able to easily be seen.  She is completely crate trained and sleeps quietly without any accidents in her crate when her foster family happens to be away from the home as long as she has several comfy blankets to snuggle up and nest in. Since Indie loves to be around her humans so much, we know she would love a human bed to share in her adoptive home,

Medically, Indie is in great health!   She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/deworming, heartworm tested, nares widened, palate shortened, tonsils removed, microchipped, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!  She does suffer from those pesky Frenchie seasonal allergies so a daily allergy pill would be beneficial. In addition, Indie has some acid reflux that can cause regurgitation; it is currently being managed with a daily famotidine and a slow feeder.

Indie would do well in almost any type of home but since she is an avid outdoor lover and has an affinity for running and playing so a house with a fenced yard will be preferred for her.  She has yet to master going up and down several stairs, so a ranch-style home would be best for her. A few stairs are her max; Indie is still learning to trust when someone picks her up so a pair of loving arms to carry her up/down stairs is not yet an option for her.  Indie is looking for a quieter home without a lot of activity.  She would do great with a single person or a family with a little older children.  She would love to go to work with her new family if they wanted to take her to the office knowing a quieter office environment would be best.  She would love to be around her human all day snoozing away in her comfy bed.  If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem!  She is completely happy sleeping the part of the day away in her crate as long as it is appointed with lots of comfy bedding!  A part-time or full-time stay-at-home or work-from-home family member would be ideal as she thrives when her people are near.

Indie will make a great family companion.  She is a sweet and loving pup who loves to keep her humans company.  Indie enjoys the comfort of the soft couch, catching up on her favorite TV shows, being near her people receiving some much-desired affection.  She has the cutest little tongue that hangs out and a tail that wags with excitement; she is guaranteed to brighten the day of those she loves the most!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
