Haze’s Story
Haze found his way into SNAFU via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled, loved, and live out his life as a cherished pet!
Haze is a very laid-back puppy that is overly social with his trusted humans and with his doggy friends. He has moments where he is active, playful, and curious but for the most part, Haze is a 24/7 stage 5 clinger that is super-glued to his foster family’s hip! There is not a lap, couch bed, or floor space that Haze will not utilize to ensure he is close to his humans grabbing some cuddling time at any cost. Haze can be bashful at times when meeting new people but seems to warm up quickly. He is unsure of new environments but quickly warms up to new people and places. He enjoys romping around the house and exploring every inch of his surroundings. Haze’s favorite thing to do is follow around the resident pups like it is his job. He lacks the ability to offer them space and oftentimes looks like he is part of their body! When he isn’t in the resident dog scrum, you can find Haze looking for something to chew on. He can chew for hours and needs something very durable. Haze must be stimulated constantly with proper TOUGH chew items or he will determine that household surroundings are fair game. Haze must be supervised at all times while outside and inside as he is a young dog putting his paws and mouth around items that are not dog-approved, still learning the ropes of pet life and doesn’t know danger. Haze has a love for the warmer outdoors and often requests time outside to take in all the smells (as long as his furry friends are in tow). He does great with other dogs and we feel he would be a great candidate for doggy daycare for continued socialization and to get his energy out! Haze will always look for his people to follow all around, shadow, and cuddle. He insists on having his trusted people always in his view. He truly just wants to be with his people all the time as he finds comfort in their presence. Haze would thrive in a home with another playful dog that will match his energy level and have the patience for puppy-like shenanigans. Haze has an overall chill disposition which allows him to get along with his furry foster siblings. He does not know danger and should always be supervised as he tends to find items he is not supposed to chew on! He has a very kind temperament which is favorable when he is around other dogs. Haze has yet to meet any human, big or small, that he hasn’t fallen head over paws for. He can be bashful at first, but after the shyness wears off and the humans gain his trust, Haze is off flirting his way into their hearts; his foster family jokes he is all beauty and little brains 🙂 Because of his kind-hearted disposition, we feel Haze will do perfectly well with other balanced dogs and with dog-savvy, gentle, respectful children of any age. We also feel Haze would thrive in a multi-dog household as he emulates other dog behaviors and picks up quickly on what is expected in the home and proper dog manners. Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and she should always be supervised to make sure both he and they are kept safe.
Haze is still working on potty training and his accidents are becoming fewer and further between. He does copy the resident dog’s outside habits and is making great strides. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be patient and willing to continue working on his potty training success as he acclimates to his new home and surroundings. Haze needs a consistent outside routine and a signal for potty. He is not crate trained and does have consistent accidents while crated. Haze has extreme crate anxiety (vocal displeasure) and with Houdini out of his crate stopping at nothing to get out; even if it means using his face and mouth to escape. We believe he could be crated with another dog (only if it is safe for both pups) and do just fine however this theory has not been tested as the resident pups are not good choices for Haze. He does not exhibit any anxiety in other situations; only in his crate. Haze would greatly benefit if he would be able to share the human bed with his adoptive family as it would calm the anxiety of this little snuggler.
Medically, Haze is in great health! He has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!
Haze would do great in a home with a fully fenced yard! He does love to explore the yard, and is still learning what can be a danger to him, but follows the lead of the other dogs (they are not runners) so a fully fenced-in yard is preferred for him (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling). Haze could do okay without a fenced-in yard but he would have to be secure with a harness and leash at all times as this life is all new to him and he could run if spooked or sees something in the distance. Since he is quite a people’s French Bulldog and is quite social with humans, we think he would love to eventually go to work with his new family if they wanted to take him with them to the office. He needs some basic training before entering the workspace but with some consistent work, he would do just fine! If his people are not able to take him to work with them, no problem at all – he would much rather (and be most successful) and greatly benefit from a part-time work-from-home or stay-at-home parent. His separation anxiety gets the best of Haze and having his people away for long hours is not ideal for him. During his time alone, he would do great for short periods as long as he has a furry companion to keep him company and a strong, durable safe chew toy to occupy his time. Haze is a little snuggle bug looking for a home that has a family to dote on him, another dog to help gain his confidence, one he can be included in most family outdoor activities, and can offer him daily walks, doggy daycare, and lots of love and attention (and patience to master potty training). Haze just wants to be close to his people at all times! Haze is a gentle, not overly energetic, and loving family dog that would love children to dote on him, lay on the floor to cuddle, and be their very best friend.
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Haze, please submit an adoption application for him.
disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
