Halo’s Story

Halo came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Meet Halo – the gentle soul with a heart full of love just waiting to bloom.

Halo is a sweet, shy, and irresistibly cuddly little Frenchie girl with a quiet presence and a deep love for naps and snuggles. At first glance, you might notice her timid nature—an understandable trait given her past—but spend just a little time with her, and you’ll uncover a tender-hearted companion who is learning to trust, love, and live the life she was always meant to have.

Halo adores being close to her people. She’s the kind of pup who will quietly follow you from room to room, happy just to be near. Whether she’s nestled beside you on the couch, curled up in your lap during movie night, or snoozing in her cozy bed with a bone between her paws, Halo finds joy in simply being by your side. Her favorite pastime? Napping—anytime, anywhere, especially if there’s a warm lap or soft blanket involved.

While she’s typically reserved in new environments or around unfamiliar people, Halo shows flashes of her playful side once she feels safe and comfortable. You’ll catch glimpses of her personality as she scurries across the yard in a short burst of excitement or contentedly chews on a favorite bone. These moments are sweet signs that she’s starting to trust and explore the world beyond her past.

Before coming to rescue, Halo spent most of her life in a commercial breeding kennel. Everything about pet life is still new to her—from toys and soft beds to being showered with affection. She’s making remarkable progress every day, but her journey is ongoing. Because of this, Halo needs a patient, loving family who can give her the time, space, and understanding she needs to fully blossom.

Halo currently lives with three furry foster siblings and has shown that she’s a bit reactive to dogs larger than herself. We believe she would thrive as the only pet in the home, soaking up all the love and attention for herself, or with a gentle, easy-going dog of similar size. Like all of our dogs, slow, supervised introductions are essential to her success in any home with other pets.

She has never shown aggression toward people, but due to her sensitive nature, we feel she would do best in a calm household with respectful, dog-savvy children over the age of 8. Halo should always be supervised around young children to ensure she feels safe and secure.

Halo is a tender, loving girl who is slowly discovering the joys of being a beloved companion. With a little patience and a lot of love, she is sure to become the most loyal and snuggly addition to the lucky family who gives her the forever home she deserves.

Medically, Halo is fecal incontinent. She will posture to potty and does well in the yard or on walks to potty, but she does not have full control over her defecation. She has been undergoing acupuncture, diet modification and supplements to improve the consistency of her stool and regain strength and control of her bowel movements. Halo does incredibly well with quick diaper changes. Halo would benefit from being fed a raw diet lifelong, along with a daily pro and prebiotic supplements.  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian. Overall,  Halo is a very low-maintenance pup. Her forever family should be ready to take on this small, extra bit of care with patience and understanding, knowing that Halo’s sweet personality and endless love make it all worthwhile.

Halo does not like her crate and finds it stressful to be crated. Since Halo is a master snuggler, we know she would love to share her human bed at night.  For her safety, we recommend she be kept gated in a small room, like bathroom or kitchen when her humans are away from the home and/or when she is left unsupervised, so she is safe and secure while no one is at home. Halo does not know danger and is still learning how to be a pet.

Halo is discovering just how fun the outside world can be—she loves to explore the yard and is quickly getting the hang of leash walks! With a little encouragement and continued positive reinforcement, she’s well on her way to becoming a confident walking buddy. Her ideal family will be patient and supportive as she builds up her leash skills and continues to find her stride.

This adaptable girl would do well in just about any type of home, from a quiet house with a fenced yard to a multi-level apartment or condo—she’s already becoming a stair-climbing pro! And thanks to her naturally quiet demeanor, she’s a great fit for close-quarter living.
