Gypsy’s Story

Gypsy was surrendered to the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release.  Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving pet home to live out her life as a cherished pet.

Gypsy is an adorably sweet, kind, loving, laid back, and most gentle English Bulldog you can meet.  She will greet everyone that walks through the door with loving paws.  Gypsy is fast to make friends with every single person and furry being she meets.  You can often find her (really you can ALWAYS find her) at the feet of those she loves the most.  Like literally under their feet; she is a trip hazard!  Like a typical Bulldog, Gypsy will smell the yumminess coming from the kitchen and appear starving!  She will wait patiently in hopes something will drop to the floor to lick up. She is very food motivated!  After dinner is served, she will follow her humans from the kitchen to the living room to take yet another Bulldog snooze as her foster family settles in for some evening TV time. She will cuddle right up in her bed.  She also loves to cuddle with her humans!  Gypsy will request some cuddle time in hopes her belly will receive some rubs.  She relishes in the attention and receiving affection and attention is her daily dream!  Extra pets is what she would say if she could talk!  Gypsy has a few furry foster friends and although she doesn’t interact with them all too much she enjoys their company and gets along wonderfully with them.  She recently started to play with the smaller Frenchie in the home and does play very awkwardly; they look like a bunch of weirdo teenagers trying to figure things out. It is the most adorable thing to watch!  Gypsy is a true mama bear and will “mother” the dogs in the house and even keep a watchful eye on the human children.  Gypsy is always aware of where they are and stay between the doors to where they sleep to ensure their safety. After the children are asleep, Gypsy will put herself to bed around 9pm.  She sleeps on a fluffy bed in her human bedroom to keep an eye on them and sleep the night away.  She is a typical chill Bulldog as she enjoys catching up on her beauty sleep.  Gypsy must be told to wake up in the morning otherwise this beauty queen would sleep the entire day away!  Once awake, Gypsy is back to shadowing her people.   Really anywhere her people are you will find Gypsy! She is a velcro Bulldog thriving most when she is around those she loves and those that offer her many treats and most importantly the attention she is seeking.  Gypsy is slowly learning to acclimate to new surroundings and it is important to remember that she is dealing with a big transition and as such will need a patient and understanding family.  She currently lives with two furry foster siblings.  Given her laid-back and gentle personality, she gets along with them both great!  We feel Gypsy would do great in a home with a furry companion as she definitely would benefit from mimicking proper dog behavior from other well-mannered dogs but she also would do well as an only pet.  She relishes the attention of all humans and dogs but we feel she would do best in a home with children of any age that are gentle and dog savvy. She is cat friendly too! Gypsy should always be supervised when she is around children to make sure she and they are kept safe.

Gypsy is fully potty trained!  She has made great strides and in a short amount of time successfully trained herself with the help of her furry foster friends.  A routine, a signal for potty (she currently waits quietly at the door), some patience, persistence, and consistency are a MUST for her continued success!  As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able and willing to continue working on potty training. Gypsy is fully crate-trained and she is a HUGE fan of her crate!  She will often seek it for some quiet time and comfort.  Given Gypsy prefers to be around her humans at all times, we feel she would love to continue to sleep in her own soft comfy bed in the bedroom with her adoptive family.

Medically, Gypsy seems to be in good health. She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, had a dental (with extractions), is microchipped, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Gypsy would do best in a home with a fenced yard (not required) and in a home that offered very few stairs as she is still learning how to properly go up and down (she is slow and cautious).  If her adoptive home does not have a fence, she must remain secure with a harness and leash as she does not know danger and will often push the boundaries she learns.  Gypsy would love to go to the office with her adoptive family as she desires the attention of her humans, is very mellow, and sweet, and loves attention from all people.  She will graciously nap the day away in the office!  If her new family cannot take her to the office- that is okay!  Gypsy is happy sleeping the day away as long as she has a comfy bed and blanket and her adoptive family can arrange a mid-day potty break for her.  As mentioned, Gypsy is a Velcro dog and would much rather have her people around as much as possible.  A part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home parent would be the best for her!  Gypsy is an extremely sweet, gentle, and easy-going Bulldog with so much love to give!  She could use a furry pal to show her the ropes of pet life, a little patience, and would be a lovable loyal addition to any family!  Gypsy is such an old soul!  She is a motherly and loving Bulldog to children and other dogs.  This lazy girl is faithful and will always be available to those she loves the most.

If you are interested in Gypsy and think you would be her perfect forever home, please submit an adoption application for her today!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
