Gibson’s Story

Gibson came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Gibson is a smart, active, playful, clumsy, energetic, curious Frenchie puppy who enjoys the activity of playtime and a comfy spot for naptime. Upon arrival at rescue, Gibson was unsure and timid.  His shy disposition has waned and his confidence surfaced and Gibson turned quickly into an adorably hyper and wild man!  This adorably clumsy little boy is constantly exploring every inch of his foster home.  He is quite inquisitive and wants to know where everything is in the home so he must be supervised when wandering indoors as he doesn’t know danger.  Gibson will come across items that he thinks are toys (he is still learning); he will grab any kid’s item, and rugs and run around so proud of his newfound treasure!  He is easily redirected to a “dog-approved” item when he gets his little paws on something that isn’t meant for him.  He is still figuring out what are dog-approved toys; Gibson is proving to be a quick study!  When he isn’t burning off some energy inside he will run outside with his foster brothers and mimic everything they do.  Sunning his cute little buns is one of his favorite outdoor activities. Once he burns off some puppy energy, you can find Gibson searching for his beloved bone blue stuffed octopus and looking for some additional playtime. There is not a toy he will refuse as any rope, squeaky or crinkle toy will do the job.  If his furry friends are romping around the home showing off their playful nature, that is a cue for Gibson to join in!  He is very confident when he enters the Frenchie scrum. He watches for his “in ” and will enter the wrestling ring and bounce around with his friends. Gibson is not at all intimidated by the much bigger Frenchies in the household or the alpha male; he just wants to play!  Once his much bigger foster siblings are done playing, Gibson will take a little snooze this time looking for the comfort of a comfy bed or even just the carpet, and will settle in for some TV time.  He loves being around his humans most and will shadow them as much as he can, especially all the littles running around his foster home. He takes great comfort around his humans and prefers their company over most things.  Gibson is truly a Velcro puppy!  He currently lives with two French Bulldog foster siblings. He gets along famously with them as he follows their lead.  Gibson is a VERY outgoing, fun-loving pup and quickly figured out his place in the pack!  Such a smart boy!  Gibson is just a puppy, is experiencing a big transition, and will need leadership, and consistent positive correction to help him learn proper dog behavior, learn proper dog manners, and know what is expected in his adoptive home. He is extremely smart, receptive to correction, treat motivated, and eager to please his humans (and his furry friends) so we know he will catch on very quickly!  Gibson seems to fall head over paws for every human he meets and is especially drawn to smaller children.  His foster family believes he would be best in a home with dog-savvy, gentle children of any age (lots of them), a home with a balanced playful friend(s) that can help Gibson learn what pet life is all about.  As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs AND supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both he and they are kept safe.

Gibson is nearly potty training and quickly made great strides in that department ! He is still a puppy so training is a work in progress; his foster family reports with a consistent and routine schedule outside he doesn’t have any in-home accidents.  He quickly picks up on things, mimics his foster sibling’s behavior, adapts well to routines, and does his business outside when he is asked.  Gibson is still a puppy and with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with him, offering him a consistent schedule and working with him on a signal for potty (he recently started gravitating towards the back door).  He is crate-trained and remains accident-free in his crate.  Since Gibson does NOT have accidents overnight, we think he would love to share a bed with his adoptive family over his crate! Gibson loves the softer things in life so a human bed would be ideal for this little little boy who loves his humans so much. For his safety, we recommend a similar crating/sleeping schedule be kept for him.

Medically, Gibson seems to be in great health.  He has been neutered, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, and has been given the okay for adoption by our veterinarian!

Gibson would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard due to his explorative nature, his desire to safely sunbathe outdoors, and his desire to chase things that are out of his control (balls as an example).   A multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with a fenced-in area would be okay for Gibson as well as a shared-wall-style home.  He does have a voice but doesn’t use it often.  Once Gibson is fully trained we believe he would love to go to the office with his new family since this sweet boy loves to always be around his people!  You can’t take him to the office- that’s okay!  He will happily sleep part of the day away in his crate with his comfy blanket and a furry friend as long as his people can arrange a mid-day potty break for him.  Gibson would very much LOVE a part-time or full-time stay-at-home or work-from-home parent.  He does have some anxiety when he isn’t around those he loves much (he will let out some little whines when alone).  Overall, Gibson is an amazing little boy!  He enjoys car rides, soccer practice, playtime, furry friends, adventures, and all people (especially children). This clumsy, wild, silly boy is looking for a family that can offer him the stimulation he needs, the energy outlets he desires, the human attention he gravitates towards, and the guidance to help him develop into a confident adult dog.  Gibson would flourish in a home with another playful pup and lots of children to pay him all the attention he adores. Be prepared for the needs and requirements of a young dog; Gibson will make it worth it!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
