Gary’s Story
Gary found his way into SNAFU via a private party. His previous owner wanted him to be placed in a loving pet home that has the time to care for him and to be a spoiled, loved, and cherished pet!
Gary is a VERY young seven-year-old (soon to be eight years old) Frenchie boy! He is just about the sweetest, most happy-go-lucky, and cuddliest boy ever. Gary is a social butterfly and has yet to meet a stranger. He adores all people alike and seems to prefer humans over anything. Gary does like the other dogs in the home but people are his jam! Garebear (as he is affectionately referred to) has a laundry list of his favorite things to do. When Gary finds himself hanging indoors, he fancies naps with his dog friends and snuggles with his human friends. His favorite human is his foster dad and Gary has been watching a ton of NFL Football along with NCAA Basketball with a side of Woman’s Volleyball. He is an equal-opportunity sports watcher. He is a passive dog in the pack. Gary’s foster home has 3 resident furry French Bulldogs, all with varying personalities. He has had no problems whatsoever adjusting to being part of a pack. He previously lived with a female boxer and got along well with her. He really is a go-with-the-flow kinda guy! Gary isn’t one for toys as cuddling is more his speed. The only thing this happy-go-lucky boy loves more than the resident pups is the humans in the home. As mentioned, Gary LOVES his people! He adores his people, worships his people, and desires their company! He relishes his time to sit with them, snuggle with them, follow them, watch TV with them, and be the very best work colleague there is (he is asking for a pay raise!). Gary is the best officemate and knows exactly when the workday starts and will find his bed under the desk and nap the day away eavesdropping on all the conference calls. He truly just wants to be with his people all the time as he finds comfort in their presence. Gary is experiencing a big change and he requires a human leader to properly guide him into what is expected of him in his adoptive home. He has a very docile temperament which is usually favorable when he is around other dogs. Gary enjoys pack walks and rolling around in the backyard like the silly boy he is! He has yet to meet any human, big or small, that he hasn’t fallen head over paws for. Because of his lighthearted disposition, we feel Gary will do perfectly well with other balanced dogs and with dog-savvy, gentle, respectful children of any age. We also feel Gary would thrive in a multi-dog household as he emulates other dog behaviors and picks up quickly on what is expected in the home and proper dog manners. Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and he should always be supervised to make sure both he and they are kept safe.
Gary is still working on potty training. He is about 75% trained and it has been a work in progress. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be patient and willing to continue working on potty training as he acclimates to his new home and surroundings. Gary requires a consistent SOLID outside routine and a signal for potty. He is 100% crate trained; and does well with no accidents while crated. Gary receives a yummy snack upon entering his crate and often shares a crate with a safe crate-mate for company as they both listen to Spectrum on Sirius XM. Gary does sleep in a human bed in the evening and would very much love to share a bed and offer many cuddles with his new family.
Medically, Gary is in great health! He has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!
Gary would do great in any type of home since he does well going up and down the stairs! He fancies exploring the outdoors (on his back rolling around), and is still working on potty training but since he is leash trained (thanks to his foster sibling) a house with or without a completely closed fenced yard would be okay for him as long as his is properly secured with a leash and harness outside a fenced-in area. Since Gary is quite a people’s French Bulldog, we think he would love to eventually go to work with his new family if they wanted to take him with them to the office (once he is fully potty trained and knows what is expected in his adoptive home). If his people are not able to take him to work with them, no problem at all – he’s completely happy sleeping part of the day as long as he has a furry companion, a comfy crate mat, and his people can arrange for a mid-day potty break for him! Gary is a little snuggle bug looking for a home that has people to dote on him, another dog(s) to help gain his confidence, one he can be included in most family indoor activities, and can offer him extra love and attention (and snacks). Gary desires a home where there is a steady supply of snuggle time, lots of chin scratches, and unlimited belly rubs. He is a simple man, who loves to give and receive affection, appreciates getting snacks for being a good boy, and absolutely LIVES to be able to roll around on the back in a yard. Gary doesn’t need fancy toys or play dates unless his play dates are people who like to watch TV while scratching his belly.

disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
