Gable’s Story

Gable found his way into SNAFU via a private party. His family wanted him to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled, loved, and live out his life as a cherished pet!

Gable is an active, playful, attention-seeking, social, energetic, outgoing, and friendly Pug.  He has 2 speeds… 100mph and sleeping!  This extremely smart boy loves to play, play, play all day!  He enjoys romping around the house and exploring every inch of his surroundings. Gable is all puppy!  He will chase his beloved tennis balls, bat around his endless amount of toys, chase his own tail, and engage his furry pals in some playtime.  Gable fancies his time outdoors, romps around the yard with his furry friends and requests walks to flirt with all the neighborhood people.  He will relax for a few moments to catch some rays and bask in the glorious sun.  After he runs a few laps around the yard, he will settle indoors with his favorite toy.  He will nibble his toy until his eyes meet one of his furry foster siblings in hopes they want to engage him in some play!  Gable will never turn down a wrestling match or chase his favorite balls all around.  He truly believes he received the gold medal in the PUG tennis ball Olympics.  Big or small Gable will throw all 19lbs of him into the wrestling ring and crown himself victorious.  After absolutely exhausting himself from endless play, Gable will always look for his people or one of his furry friends to partake in a cuddle session during his snooze.  He truly just wants to be with his people all the time as he finds comfort in their presence and the attention he is offered; he is 100% a Velcro Pug  After a much needed puppy nap, he is off circling the house following his foster siblings around, mimicking their behaviors and stealing all their toys. His favorite toy however is his furry foster friends! Gable’s days start and end with run, play, snuggle… wash rinse repeat!  Gable’s overall fun, rambunctious, happy disposition allows him to get along with his furry foster siblings both big and small, male or female; he even is cat-friendly. He does not know danger and should always be supervised as he tends to find items he is not supposed to get into!  He has a very lovable and fun temperament which is favorable when he is around other dogs.  Gable seems to get along with any dog of his size or larger; he thinks he is much bigger than he really is!  He has yet to meet any human, big or small, that he hasn’t fallen head over paws for.  Because of his lighthearted disposition, we feel Gable will do perfectly well with another dog of any size and with dog-savvy, gentle, respectful children of any age.  We also feel Gable would thrive in a multi-dog household as he emulates other dog behaviors and picks up quickly on what is expected in the home and proper dog manners. He does have some separation anxiety and a home with another pet to keep him company is a must for Gable.  Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and he should always be supervised to make sure both he and they are kept safe.

Gable is still working on potty training and his accidents are becoming fewer and further between.  As with all of our dogs, any adopter must be patient and willing to continue working on his potty training success as he acclimates to his new home and surroundings. He is still a young dog in need of a consistent outside routine and a signal for potty.  Gable is crate-trained however doesn’t prefer his crate. He will have accidents out of pure anxiety and will bark non-stop as he despises being away from his people.  Gable will need to work in the crate department or be slowly trusted in a small dog-safe area in his adoptive home.  A should always be kept in a small safe space or crate as he does not know danger.  Gable does sleep in his human bed in the evening and would very much like to continue to share a bed and offer snuggles to his new family; this would help his anxiety!

Medically, Gabel is in great health!  He has been neutered, microchipped, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! Gable does have a very sensitive tummy.  He is on an RX diet and must be kept on that in perpetuity as his current diet keeps his tummy issues at bay.

Gable would do great in any type of home!  He has mastered using the stairs so a multi-level home would be okay for him!   Since he does love to explore the yard and all around the fence, a house with a completely closed fenced yard will be preferred for him for his ongoing safety; but is not required (as opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling). Gable is a very vocal Pug.  A shared-wall or apartment-style home is not ideal for him as the noises he makes may be disruptive to others.  Since Gable is quite a people’s Pug, we think he would love to eventually go to work with his new family if they wanted to take him with them to the office.  He needs some basic training before entering the workspace but with some consistent work, he would do just fine!  If his people are not able to take him to work with them, no problem at all – he’s completely happy sleeping at home for a few hours as long as he has a warm soft blanket and a furry friend, and his people can arrange for a potty break for him!  Gable is a little snuggle bug looking for a home that has an active family to dote on him, can be included in most family outdoor activities, can offer him the exercise he desires, has many extra hands to offer him pets, ear/ neck rubs and has an engaging furry friend to play with and lots of love and attention. Gable is still a young dog that will require a little extra patience as he is guided into what is expected of him.  He is a very smart dog that adores his people over anything so we know he will pick up on things VERY quickly!  Gable will quickly have you wrapped around his little paw!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Gable, please submit an adoption application for him.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
