France’s Story

France was surrendered to SNAFU Rescue via a private party.  Her adoring owner wanted her to be placed in a loving home to be spoiled and live out her life as happily as she can be!

France is a sweet, happy, easy-going, social girl who comes out after she is settled in! She has some nervousness about her but after she warms up she becomes very friendly and outgoing.  She has a love for the outdoors but sticks close to her humans as she explores. France is naturally inquisitive and loves to explore every nook and cranny of the house and yard. Initially, France can be a bit reserved, especially around new people and in new environments. She’s a little shy around new people at first, but after a bit of warming up, she becomes incredibly friendly, acting as if she’s never met a stranger and showing affection to anyone who offers her a little attention. She is 100% a Velcro dog. This little girl insists on being wherever her beloved humans are. She follows them around as if it’s her job, sticking close when her foster family heads to the kitchen for a snack, gathers on the couch for TV time or settles down for bedtime. Nothing deters France from staying close to her people, especially when there are unlimited pets and scratchies on offer. There’s nothing more in the world that she wants than to be with those she cherishes most.

France has developed a fondness for toys and bones, always gravitating towards anything soft and squeaky! She has discovered the joy of playing, and when it’s time to unwind, she’ll hop up on the couch for a good snooze. If no one is available to share the couch with her, France is perfectly happy claiming the comfy spot as her own for a well-deserved nap. After nap time, you can often find France on the hunt for a bone to chew on—she’s quite the chewer, so having a good bone on hand will keep her occupied for hours.

Once France warms up, she’s social with everyone. She loves other dogs and lights up with joy when her furry foster sibling plays. If her friends are just not in the mood, she is content continuing and finding joy all by herself.  France does adore other dogs, so we believe she’d do great with other playful, well-balanced dogs in her adoptive home. Having another dog to play with, hang out with, and keep her company would be ideal but we also think France would do equally okay as the only dog in the home soaking up all the love and attention for herself as she does like to cut in front and be first in line for everything!  France has a kind and gentle temperament, which makes us believe she would thrive in a home with children of any age. She has been around children 4 years and old and has done wonderful with them.  However, slow introductions and supervision around children are important to ensure everyone’s safety. Although she’s generally laid-back, France still needs a family willing to provide her with proper boundaries and the leadership she needs to continue thriving.

France’s foster family happily reports she picked up on potty training very quickly.  She has come leaps and bounds since she arrived in rescue and hasn’t had an accident in several weeks.  A strict, regular, and consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training success in her new home.  She is 100% crate-trained and sleeps quietly while crated. France remains completely accident-free in her crate.  For her safety, we recommend that she maintain a similar schedule when her adoptive family leaves the home.  Since France adores her humans so much, we know she would love to share a human bed at night with her adoptive family.

Medically, France seems to be in great health!  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, and heartworm tested, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! France does suffer from those pesky seasonal allergies; she is given a daily allergy med to keep them at bay.

France would be happiest in a house with a fenced yard due to her adoration for the outdoors (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard).  Although a fenced-in yard is not required for France as she doesn’t wander from her humans, she must be kept safely secured on a leash and harness for her ongoing safety.  She is overly curious and still learning boundaries. Stairs are easy peasy for her!  She conquered going up the stairs and down stairs so a multi-level home would be okay for her.   An apartment-style or shared-wall home would not be good for France as she barks when she hears something in the distance.  France would be a good dog to take to the office if she is able. Once she warms up, she will surely be the chair of the social committee!  She is such a versatile pup and would gladly cuddle up in a soft bed and snooze the day away with an occasional nibble on her bone.  She also would be completely happy sleeping part of the day away in her crate as long as her people can arrange a mid-day potty break for her!  France would thrive in a home where she had lots of love and attention, and her humans not gone long hours.  She would do great with or without kids (kids would be a huge plus) and would LOVE to have a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member if possible, but not required at all.  Again, she has such a sweet, happy, and gentle temperament when she is surrounded by those she loves.  France is super easy to be around and makes everyone smile who is around her.  She is such a laid-back dog that wants to be around her people as much as in hopes of not missing any of the action!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
