Eddie’s Story

Eddie found his way into SNAFU via a private party. His surrendering owner wanted him to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled, loved, and live out his life as a cherished pet!

Eddie Spaghetti is the definition of adaptive! His energy level matches the atmosphere around him.  If his humans are up for a walk or playing a game, so is Eddie!  If it’s time for watching TV and snuggling on the couch, well, he is right there too.  He is the pawfect mixture of outgoing and laid-back.  Eddie loves a good jaunt around the house following his humans around like it is his job or when it is time for a W.A.L.K., Eddie is the first one to raise his paw and beeline for the door! Eddie is a tripod and one wouldn’t even know it.  He gets along great and NOTHING slows this boy down.  If he is not on a walk scoping out the neighborhood, he is outside in the fenced-in yard sunning his cute little buns.  He is a creature of habit… play, walk and cuddle… wash, rinse and repeat.  He has immediately taken to his humans and INSISTS on being with them at all times. He thrives with human contact and attention.  This little snuggle bug would cuddle on the couch all day and watch TV if he was allowed to do so! When a couch or lap is not available, Eddie will take to his playful side and bat around his favorite toys or even nibble on his beloved bone.  HE LOVES toys!  Even though Eddie came from a loving home, he is experiencing a big change and he requires a human leader to help guide him into what is expected of him in his adoptive home and to help him learn proper dog behaviors. Overall, Eddie is a little snuggle bug that ALWAYS has to be around his human.  He is an equal opportunity lap napper as anyone’s lap will do when it is time to tune into his favorite shows!  There hasn’t been a human (big or small) that he hasn’t fallen head over paws for.  He really is a sweet boy!  Eddie does have other furry beings in his foster home and has no problems whatsoever interacting with them.  He plays nicely with all dogs big or small and of any gender.  The only thing this happy-go-lucky boy loves more than snack time and time getting pulled around in his wagon are the humans in the home.  Eddie LOVES his people, adores his people, and worships his people! He relishes his time to sit with them, snuggle with them and just share the same space with those he loves most.  He truly just wants to be with his people all the time as he finds comfort in their presence.  Because of his overall kind disposition, we feel Eddie will do perfectly well with other balanced dogs and with dog-savvy, gentle, respectful children of any age.  We also feel Eddie would thrive in a multi-dog household but would be equally okay as an only dog as he loves all the attention on him!  Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and he should always be supervised to make sure both he and they are kept safe.

Eddie is potty trained and is doing extremely well staying accident free!  Often, he finds himself needing a late evening potty break.  As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be patient and willing to continue working on potty training as he acclimates to his new home and surroundings. Eddie requires a consistent outside routine and a signal for potty.   He is NOT a fan at all of his crate.  Eddie displays anxiety while crate and rather is trusted in a dog safe room when his people are away from the home.  Since Eddie is such a snuggle bug, we know he would love to continue to share a human bed in the evening and would offer many cuddles with his new family.

Medically, Eddie is in great health!  He has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! Eddie is missing his back leg (tripod) but doe not cause him any issues or stop him for being a normal, active dog!

Eddie would do great in any type of home since but since he fancies exploring the outdoors, chasing things afar, sunning his buns on the patio and is still learning what can be a danger to him a house with a completely closed fenced yard will be required for him (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling).  Eddie seems to have a bit of a need to chase so keeping him safe in a completely fenced yard is best for his ongoing safety. He is a champ at stairs so a multi-level home would be okay for him!  Since Eddie really enjoys being around his people as much as possible, we think he would love to eventually go to work with his new family if they wanted to take him with them to the office.  He is a social butterfly and would adorably flirt his way around the office. If his people are not able to take him to the office that is okay! He would much prefer a part-time or full-time stay-at-home or work-from-home family member.   This sweet little love is looking for some lovin’ and major attention!  Eddie Spaghetti thinks he needs to be the center of the universe 24/7.  He would do great with kids, other dogs and equally okay as an only pet.  He needs time, direction from a great leader, lots of pets, walks, wagon rides, snuggles, lap time, couch time, and most importantly love!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
