Delta’s Story
Delta came into SNAFU Rescue via a private party. She was a breeder release but found her way to use via a Good Samaritan. Both the Good Samaritan and the breeder wanted her placed in a loving pet home and to live her life as a cherished and loved family member.
Delta is a sweet, calm, quiet, respectful, well-mannered little Frenchie girl who loves to be near her favorite humans or fur pal at all times. She is outgoing and very social around her humans. She seeks attention and prefers to be everywhere her foster family is (furry family included.) She is a very affectionate little girl who is full of lovey-dovey cuddles and kisses. Nap time is her favorite time! There is not a couch or lap that Delta won’t lay on during her many daily naps. Delta does like to play, usually fitting in several play sessions throughout the day of Zoomies with her furry foster brother, but as soon as the play is done, she’s right back to napping. If she finds a toy to bat around, she definitely prefers those that squeak! When Delta isn’t shadowing her foster dad everywhere you can find her snuggled up to her furry foster brother, a 33 lb male Frenchie. When Delta first arrived at the rescue, she was a bit timid. She lived most of her life in a commercial breeding kennel and is slowly learning to live her life as a cherished pet. She has gained confidence and has become comfortable in her foster home with the help of her furry foster brother and patient foster family. It is important to remember that she is dealing with a big transition and as such will need a patient and understanding forever family. Delta truly enjoys every moment with her furry foster brother. If he’s eating, she’s eating, if he goes outside, she must go outside, if he’s playing with toys, she wants to play with toys. She’s a very social Frenchie who is the perfect mix of play and rest. Delta really enjoys the company of her humans. She seems to prefer men but is accepting of pets from all humans. She does still crouch down to the ground when being picked up, but once in your arms, she’s comfortable. Delta thrives with her furry foster brother at her side, so her foster family thinks she needs to be with another dog in her home, so they can show her the ropes. She is still learning the ways of pet life and finds comfort in being with her human, but living with one other balanced dog will certainly help her continue to learn and grow into the pampered pet she’s meant to be. As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to other dogs in the household are a must. Delta has met children on a few walks (she’s great on a leash by the way) and was accepting of their love and pets, so her foster family believes she’d do great in a home with calm, dog-savvy, respectful children, but also fine with no kids in the home. She should always be supervised when she is around children to make sure both she and they are kept safe.
Delta’s foster family happily reports she is 90% potty trained! She currently has a few accidents a week, but she’s made fast progress and picked it up quickly! She hasn’t learned to signal to go out just yet, but if let out every couple of hours she’s done fine with that. Her adoptive family will need to be patient, willing, and able to keep her on a regular and consistent schedule for her continued potty-training success. Delta was using a crate when she first came into foster, and she really wasn’t a fan. She had accidents in her crate due to anxiety (the pet camera proved she was very anxious while in the crate), but since her foster family has allowed her to use a playpen with her foster brother and allowed her to sleep in bed with them at night, she is a much happier girl. For her safety, we recommend a similar arrangement when her humans are away from the home and/or when she is left unsupervised, so she is safe and secure while no one is at home, but also not anxious and stressed in a crate. She may do ok crated in a large crate with another calm dog, but that would need to be tested in her forever home. Delta does not know danger and is still learning how to be a pet. Since she loves her humans so much and is quite the snuggle bug, we do think she would love to share a bed with her adoptive family.
Medically, Delta seems to be in great health. She does suffer from the pesky Frenchie seasonal allergies, but may also be allergic to beef, so she would benefit from a daily allergy pill during allergy season and a non-beef diet (currently she’s eating grain-free salmon/sweet potato.) She also had a UTI while in foster care, but she has done well with the addition of a probiotic and a cranberry UTI supplement; she was reported to have UTIs in her past so the use of a daily probiotic and cranberry supplement should be continued to keep her UTIs at bay. Delta also likes spa days and gladly allows nail trimming as well as ear and teeth cleaning. She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian.
Delta is a very adaptable dog, and we think she would do great in almost any type of home, as long as there is a loving human and another dog to snuggle. We also feel that Delta would be a good pet for a multiple-floor apartment-style home as she is a quiet dog and is a pro at stairs. A fenced-in yard is not required for Delta; one would be ideal for her ongoing safety but being secured with a harness and leash would do the trick. Full-time or part-time work from home or a stay-at-home parent? Delta would love that; like really love that!!! Otherwise, we think she’d love to go to work with her new family! She’s calm and quiet and LOVES car rides! If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem at all – she’s completely happy sleeping part of the day away as long as she has a warm soft blanket, a furry companion at her side, and her people can arrange for a mid-day potty break for her! Delta is looking for a family to call her very own, one with at least one other furry sibling for her to bond with and snuggle her days away. She is a little chameleon and picks up on the characteristics of those she loves the most. Delta is the perfect balance of active and laidback!

disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
