Dasha’s Story

Dasha came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Dasha is an active, friendly, affectionate, playful yet chill Frenchie girl who loves to socialize with other dogs!  This exuberant girl is very high-spirited with a fondness for nap time.  Dasha takes a minute to warm up to new people (big, small and furry) but is able to quickly and easily make new friends.  She absolutely adores playing with the other resident sibling in her foster home (despite the size difference); she is fearless when it comes to fun with her furry friends!  Dasha will run endless zoomies before grabbing a chew toy and settling in somewhere quiet to nibble away on her favorite Nylabone.  After she tires of her bone, she will take in a long snooze in her comfy bed when the household is quiet and settled.  Make one movement… Dasha is quick to jump up and follow around her favorite humans.  She definitely does not want to miss out on anything; a major case of FOMO (fear of missing out).  Dasha is a typical adorable girl…everyday is play, nap, play, nap; wash-rinse-repeat!   She worships all known humans, pretty much anyone person or pup she can convince to provide her with enjoyment, attention and treats.  Dasha is well-behaved around children of all ages but due to her young age, she is still learning manners and like a furry bowling bowl, she enthusiastically will jump to greet them. She will need a patient and understanding family to help her gain confidence around new situations, people, and learn proper dog commands and what is expected of her in the home. She is still learning manners but has an overall loving and gentle disposition, we feel she would do best in a home with children of any age who are respectful, gentle and dog savvy.  Dasha can guard her most treasured possessions (like her toys) but is easily corrected with a firm “no”!  In addition, we feel Dasha would thrive in a home with a well-balanced furry friend of any size to show her the ropes of pet life as she mimics all dog behaviors (good and bad).  As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household is a must and she should always be supervised to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Dasha is new to potty training; it is a work in progress however her foster family happily reports she is making vast improvements (snow or shine)!  She has been consistently going potty outside and her accidents are becoming fewer and farther between. A regular and consistent schedule will help with continued potty training in her new home.  As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with her.  She would benefit from a signal for potty.  She is completely crate trained and sleeps quietly without any accidents in her crate when her foster family happens to be away from the home as long as she has several comfy blankets to snuggle up and nest in.

Medically, Dasha is in great health!   She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/deworming, heartworm tested, microchipped, had a dental, nares widened and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Dasha would do well in almost any type of home but since she is still working on potty training, still mastering her leash/stairs skills, has an affinity for the outdoors, loves to run and play so a house with a fenced yard will be preferred for her.  Dasha is truly a pack animal and needs the love and attention from an active family with other furry members to play with!   A bonus for her would be if she was welcomed into a family with many members to offer her lots of playtime!  The more people who offer her love and lots of attention the happier Dasha is!  Dasha would love to go to work with her new family (once properly socialized)  if they wanted to take her to the office knowing she can get a little mischievous without supervision and nibble on items that are not dog friendly.  She is curious by nature, loves to be around her people and adores all new people after a slow introduction. If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem!  She is completely happy sleeping the day away in her crate as long as she has a furry brother or sister to keep her company AND if her new family can arrange a potty break for her midday throughout the day!

Dasha is a very funny, affectionate, playful, curious with a bit of a mischievous side, so please be ready for the needs and care requirements of a dog just entering pet life. She is still learning manners but with proper guidance she will quickly adapt to a structured environment.  If you are looking for an addition to your family that needs and wants your family’s attention, love and attention, then Dasha just might be for you and your family!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
