Churro’s Story

Churro came into the SNAFU Rescue via a private party/good samaritan. His surrender wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Churro is a charming and lovable French Bulldog who effortlessly balances playful energy with a relaxed attitude. He’s the perfect companion for any family looking for a dog who can keep up with active moments but also enjoys quiet cuddles on the couch. Churro’s social nature shines through in everything he does—he adores being around people of all ages, from babies to teens and is incredibly gentle and patient with children. This affectionate boy thrives on human interaction and is happiest when he’s right by his family’s side, whether it’s playtime in the yard, a car ride, or just hanging out at home.

Churro loves to go on daily walks and is more than happy to accompany his humans on any adventure, whether it’s taking the kids to school, running errands, or exploring the neighborhood on a golf cart. He’s enthusiastic about car rides, happily hopping in the back seat, and is always ready for the next destination. His playful side comes out when he’s offered a bone or a toy—he enjoys a good game of fetch or tug but doesn’t have a particular favorite, making him easy to please. With Churro, the simple things in life are the most fun!

He’s also a huge snuggle enthusiast and would gladly spend hours curled up next to his humans. Churro is a Velcro dog who will follow you from room to room, ready to be a part of every moment. He’s eager to share the couch during movie night, be your shadow in the kitchen, or nap by your feet during the workday. This loyal boy even loves to sleep near his humans, making him the ultimate cuddle buddy.

Churro’s combination of laid-back and active makes him a fantastic match for any family. He’s a larger French Bulldog, with a strong and sturdy build, so his future family will need to appreciate his size and embrace his big-hearted personality. Despite his sturdy appearance, he’s a gentle soul who loves to please his people. Churro has a bit of that classic Frenchie stubbornness, but with his easy-going nature and desire to make his family happy, he’s quick to adapt to routines and expectations.

While Churro has a soft spot for his humans, he isn’t a fan of other dogs and can feel uncomfortable around them, so he’d do best as the only dog in the household. This is his chance to shine as the center of attention in a loving home. With his easy-going personality, he’s incredibly simple to please—whether it’s a game of fetch, a leisurely stroll, or a cozy nap, he’s all in.  It is believed that Churro had a negative previous experience with other dogs (especially larger ones) that has left him with some PTSD, but it hasn’t dampened his gentle spirit with humans. He’s ready for a fresh start, with a family who will adore him for his sweet nature and quirky, stubborn breed traits.

Churro has a kind and gentle temperament because of this, we feel he would do best in a home with children of any age. Slow introductions and supervision around children are a must to be sure they and he are kept safe.  Although she is laid back in general she still requires a family willing to provide her proper boundaries and provide the proper leadership he needs.

Churro’s foster family happily reports he is fully potty trained and remains accident-free!   A strict, regular, and consistent schedule will help him with his continued potty training success in his new home. Churro will indicate he needs to go by waiting at the door to the backyard.  He is 100% crate trained.  He likes his crate but doesn’t love it. Churro will sometimes bark, cry, or whine in it but will settle down in a short time.  He is offered a sturdy bone (that he can’t get pieces off of) to keep him occupied while spending time in his crate. He will usually willingly go to his kennel for a yummy treat. He will enter his kennel when he is tired sometimes.  For his safety, we recommend that he maintain a similar schedule when his adoptive family leaves the home.  Since Churro adores his humans so much, we know he would eventually love to share a human bed at night with his adoptive family.

Medically, Churro seems to be in great health!  He has been neutered, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, nares widened, palate shortened, tonsils removed, had a dental with extractions and heartworm tested, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! Churro did have a benign growth removed from his backside.  These growths are typical in dogs that remain unaltered for a long period of time.  Additional benign growths can occur over time and he must be monitored if any arise. Churro does suffer from those pesky Frenchie allergies.  He is offered a daily OTC allergy med and cytopoint injections when he flares.  He must be wiped down regularly to remove the allergens from his body in addition to frequent bathing.

Churro would be happiest in a house with a fenced yard due to his adoration for the outdoors (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard).  He is overly curious and still learning boundaries. He conquered the stairs and does well going both up and down. Due to his larger stature and his little legs he often needs help getting up onto beds, couches and in the car.  Ultimately, a ground-level apartment with an adjacent fenced-in area would be okay for him short-term but longer-term and ideal home for Churro would be in a single-family home. Although a fenced-in yard is best for his ongoing safety, Churro could adjust to leashed outdoor potty breaks if a fenced-in yard is not available.  For his ideal home, Churro would love a family who can give him the time and attention he craves. He’d thrive in a busy household with lots of activity, where he can be involved in everyday life. Churro is fantastic with children, making him a great fit for families with kids who want a dog that’s both a playmate and a gentle friend. He’d also make a wonderful companion for someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule, as he loves being close to his humans. An office environment where Churro can accompany his person would also suit him well—he’s happy to hang out quietly, just being near his people.  Churro would thrive in a home where he can be the center of attention and the apple of his adoptive family’s eye. He would thrive with kids and would absolutely LOVE to have a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member.  Again, he has such a sweet, loving, and gentle temperament when he is surrounded by those he loves.  Churro is a really fun, playful ball of energy!  He is such an adorable dog who wants to be around people as much as he can and be included in most family adventures!

Overall, Churro is a devoted, affectionate, and joyful dog who’s ready to find his forever home. He’s looking for a family who will appreciate his loving nature, playful spirit, and desire to be included in all the little moments that make up a day. For the family who welcomes him, Churro promises a lifetime of loyalty, companionship, and warmth.

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Churro, please submit an adoption application for him today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
