Chanel’s Story
Chanel came into the SNAFU Rescue via a shelter pull. She was surrendered to a shelter for untreated skin issues that needed a specialized rescue to address. The shelter wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet and received the much needed medical attention she desperately needed.
Chanel is a beautiful, loving little French Bulldog with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Equal parts cuddly companion, playful entertainer, and tiny self-appointed security guard, Chanel is guaranteed to keep her forever family smiling, laughing, and feeling endlessly loved.
At her core, Chanel is a total Velcro Frenchie who wants nothing more than to be as close to her humans as physically possible. If you sit down, she’ll happily curl up beside you (or directly on top of you). At bedtime, she transforms into the ultimate snugglebug, burrowing herself under the blankets and sleeping curled up against her people like the world’s cutest little furnace. Personal space? Chanel believes that’s highly overrated.
While cuddling and belly rubs are her absolute favorite things in life, Chanel also has a playful, silly side that shines bright every day. She loves tossing her stuffies around the room for herself to chase, proudly entertaining herself like a one-dog comedy show. She’s even happier when her humans join in — whether it’s a game of tug or tossing toys for her to fetch. Chanel lives for interactive play and thrives on attention from her people.
Chanel is incredibly social and convinced that every human she meets exists solely to pet her, hug her, and tell her how adorable she is. She’s wonderfully friendly with people of all ages, including children, and absolutely adores cuddling with her foster family’s girls. She’s gentle, affectionate, and loves being included in family life.
That said, Chanel has recently decided she may also be part guard dog! When newcomers arrive, she might give a few barks or grumbles to announce herself — but the act never lasts long. Within seconds, she’s usually trotting right over to demand pets and attention from her “intruders.” It’s all bark, no bite, and honestly pretty adorable.
Chanel enjoys the company of other dogs and would likely love having a canine companion to snuggle, play, and share naps with. She’s happy to share beds, laps, and even her kennel with other pups because she truly loves companionship. She can sometimes come on a little strong during introductions and may get scrappy or overexcited during play, especially if she’s competing for attention or toys. Stuffies are serious business in Chanel’s world! But she is very smart, highly responsive to correction, and settles quickly with a simple stern word. She genuinely wants to be a good girl and takes guidance beautifully.
Because of her overly enthusiastic interest in cats, Chanel would do best in a home without feline friends.
Chanel is also an excellent adventure buddy. She absolutely loves walks, enjoys car rides, and is happiest when she gets to tag along for everyday outings with her people. She’s a true companion dog who simply wants to be involved in whatever her family is doing.
And in true Frenchie fashion, Chanel is a bit of a diva when it comes to weather. Rain? Snow? Absolutely not — unless she has her proper wardrobe! This fair-weather girl fully believes coats, sweaters, and boots are essential fashion accessories. Baths are not her favorite activity either, but with a few treats and some encouragement, she tolerates them like the brave little princess she is.
Chanel is smart, affectionate, funny, loyal, and overflowing with personality. She’s the kind of dog who makes herself the center of your world without even trying — and once she snuggles under the covers beside you, you’ll never want it any other way.
Someone is going to be incredibly lucky to call Chanel family. She’s ready to fill her forever home with love, laughter, cuddles, and endless Frenchie charm!
Chanel’s foster family proudly reports that she is fully potty trained and has excellent house manners! She follows a reliable daily routine and does wonderfully when kept on schedule. Chanel heads outside first thing in the morning, again after breakfast, before her foster family leaves for work, midday with the pet sitter, after everyone gets home, after dinner, and every couple of hours when people are home with her. While her humans are away, she comfortably holds it for about 4–5 hours at a time. She has proven herself to be a very reliable and well-trained girl.
Chanel is also fully crate trained and does great in her kennel during working hours… overnight? Evening is reserved for the human bed! If you say “crate,” she happily trots right in like a pro, especially when she knows a favorite bone and stuffy are waiting for her inside. She settles calmly and comfortably in her crate and views it as a safe, cozy place to relax. True to her social nature, Chanel especially enjoys being kenneled alongside her foster dog siblings and would much rather share her space than be crated completely alone.
Of course, if Chanel had her way, she’d skip the crate altogether at bedtime and sleep curled up under the blankets with her humans every single night — snuggling is truly her love language! With her affectionate personality, smart mind, and eagerness to please, Chanel is ready to be an amazing companion for one very lucky forever family… in a human bed!
Medically, Chanel seems to be in good health. She has been spayed, nares widened, had a dental, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian.
Does Chanel sound a little too good to be true? Well… almost! Like many French Bulldogs, Chanel does have pesky allergies that require ongoing management, but her foster family has worked hard to get her feeling and looking her best. When Chanel first arrived in rescue, she was battling significant antibiotic-resistant skin infections. Once her veterinary team identified the right treatment plan — including a month-long combination of Bactrim and Clavamox — her skin improved beautifully, and she has continued doing very well with consistent care.
To help keep her skin healthy and comfortable, Chanel currently follows a solid allergy-management routine that has become just part of her normal life. She receives medicated baths once or twice weekly, has her adorable wrinkles and creases cleaned with medicated wipes or pads, and takes daily allergy medications during the tougher allergy seasons (Zyrtec in the morning and Benadryl at night). Cytopoint injections have also been a huge help in keeping her allergies and skin irritation under control and will likely remain an important part of her long-term care plan, alongside regular veterinary guidance to determine the best schedule for her needs.
The good news? Chanel tolerates her routine very well, especially when treats are involved, and her foster family feels the payoff is absolutely worth it. Underneath those occasional allergy flare-ups is an incredibly loving, funny, affectionate, and wonderful little dog who brings endless joy to everyone around her.
Chanel is an incredibly adaptable little Frenchie, and we truly believe she could thrive in almost any loving home environment as long as she gets what matters most to her: plenty of companionship, snuggles, and time with her people. Whether it’s a single person looking for a loyal shadow, a couple wanting a built-in cuddle buddy, or a busy family with multiple laps available at all times, Chanel will happily make herself right at home. She is deeply people-oriented and happiest when she’s included in everyday life.
A fenced-in yard would certainly be a bonus for Chanel’s safety, but it is not a requirement. While she enjoys lounging outdoors and sniffing around the yard, what she really loves is simply being wherever her humans are. She would be perfectly content in a home without a fenced yard as long as she gets regular walks and is always secured with a harness and leash when outside. Chanel absolutely loves walks and would happily join her family for multiple strolls a day. Because she is such a Velcro girl and likes to follow her humans everywhere, her future family will need to be mindful around doors and exits since she may try to sneak out behind them in hopes of tagging along for the adventure.
Chanel handles stairs with no problem at all and confidently navigates both indoor staircases and outdoor deck stairs in her foster home. She could do well in a house, condo, townhouse, or apartment setting. She is generally a quiet dog when her people are home, though she may bark briefly at unfamiliar noises or hallway activity, so a very busy shared-wall environment could occasionally get her attention.
This sweet girl would also make an excellent office companion. Chanel is social, friendly, and convinced every person she meets is a potential new best friend ready to hand out pets and compliments. She would happily trot from coworker to coworker soaking up attention before curling up for a cozy nap near her favorite human.
Because Chanel is so attached to her people, she would love a home where someone is around much of the day or where she can have a midday potty break if her family works outside the home. She does very well with her routine, but she likely would not do well being expected to go an entire workday without a bathroom break.
Chanel is truly a wonderful companion — affectionate, funny, adaptable, and overflowing with love. She’s ready to become someone’s constant shadow, favorite snuggle buddy, and cherished family member for years to come.
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Chanel, please submit an adoption application for her today!!
disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
