Calyx’s Story
Calyx came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.
Calyx has a quiet, super chill, laidback, gentle, and reserved disposition. He is not your typcial rambunctios Boston; he has sucha calm and relaxed dispostion. He is the ultimate go-with-the-flow kind of pup! He is such an endearing boy with a heart as big as his expressive eyes. He is the ultimate snuggle bug who enjoys couch time! His favorite pastimes include hanging around his humans, following his humans, sitting on the lap of his humans, and cuddling his humans. Yes, Calyx is very much a Velcro Boston Terrier!!! He is such a friendly, happy boy with a playful spirit who loves extra cuddles and being snuggled. His cuteness is off the charts!!! His soft, sleek coat and perky ears are irresistible to all. Calyx enjoys the company of other animals and is very much a pack animal. Calyx is the pawfect playmate; he graciously shares toys and playfully tugs at ropes. He ensures everyone feels included in his fun! When he isn’t super-glued to his beloved human, you can find him trotting around the backyard. When his foster siblings are enjoying the outdoors with him, he will partake in some play but when the sun is shining, you can find Calyx exploring the world one sniff at a time. Whether it’s chasing his toys in a game of fetch, rolling on the grass, or sunning his cute little buns, he is completely in his element! Although he prefers attention from his human, he doesn’t beg, whine, or make demands; he does not desire to be the pack leader. After a perfect amount of time soaking up the outdoor sunshine, Calyx will search for a warm place to snuggle up or preferably find a lap for a much-needed nap. Did we mention napping and snuggles again?!?! Calyx will always look for his people to partake in a cuddle session during his snooze. He truly just wants to be with his people all the time as he finds comfort in their presence if they happen to be in the same room as he is. Calyx’s overall relaxed disposition allows him to get along with his furry foster siblings his size. He has a very kind, gentle temperament which is favorable when he is around other dogs. He has yet to meet any adult human that he hasn’t fallen head over paws for! Because of his lighthearted, gentle, and calm disposition, we feel Calyx will do perfectly well with other balanced dogs equal to his size and with dog-savvy, gentle, respectful middle school-age children as Calyx prefers a quiet living environment. We also feel Calyx would thrive with other balanced furry creatures to help continue to show him the ropes. Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and he should always be supervised to make sure both he and they are kept safe.
Calyx is working on potty training! This is a whole new world to him, and he is making some progress every single day!! As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be patient and willing to continue working on his potty training as he acclimates to his new home and surroundings. Positive reinforcement is key! Calyx will need a signal for potty. He is 100% crate-trained and does not have any accidents while crated. He sleeps quietly in his crate for a few hours at a time when his foster family is away from the home. We’re sure Calyx would love to share the bed with his beloved humans since he is the ultimate cuddle bug and loves to be with his human at all times!
Medically, Calyx is in great health! He has been neutered, had a dental with extractions, microchipped, heartworm tested, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! Calyx does appear to have some vision and hearing difficulties but that doesn’t dampen his spirit, He adapts easily with guidance and patience, relying on his other senses to best navigate. Although his hearing has improved since being treated for an ear infection, his vision seems a bit cloudy (nothing medically is wrong with his eyes).
Calyx would do great in most any type of home! Calyx is still learning to use the stairs, so a home with a small amount of steps would be best for him. Due to his love for the outdoors, a fenced-in yard is preferred for him as Calyx doesn’t know danger and could easily wander off. An apartment-style dwelling would be okay for Calyx as long as it was a ground-level unit with an attached fenced-in yard. Since Calyx is a quiet, chill little boy we think he would love to go to work with his new family if they wanted to take him with them to the office (once he is fully potty trained). He would really love it If his family had a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home parent as he enjoys the company of his humans SO MUCH. Currently, he sleeps quietly in the home office of his foster dad as he works the day away! Calyx is a little snuggle bug looking for a family that can offer unlimited lap time, ample couch time to catch up on his favorite Netflix series, unlimited belly rubs, and lots of love and attention. He will repay all the love with his unwavering loyalty! Calyx is truly the sweetest boy who so desperately wants to be the apple of someone’s eye. He needs attention, proper guidance, and patience in a home with a carefree attitude and a lazy lifestyle. He cherishes his time with his people on the couch cuddling watching TV and really just being with them all the time. Calyx embodies sweetness, curiosity, and unwavering loyalty. He is such a loving boy who will make his favorite people feel like they are the most important people in the world!!
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Calyx, please submit an adoption application for him.
disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
