Bubba’s Story

Bubba came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Meet Bubba, an energetic and affectionate French Bulldog who brings both playfulness and love to every moment. He’s a curious guy who loves looking out the window, captivated by everything going on outside. Bubba’s favorite part of the day is getting extended bathroom breaks where he can explore the yard, sniff around, and take in the world. He’s social and adores meeting new people, always eager to be part of the action and make sure he’s not missing out on anything exciting. Although he is eager to meet new friends, he does display some stressed out behaviors when the new environments are loud and noisy. Bubba has a special place in his heart for hard bones and toys, keeping himself entertained for hours. He can be possessive of these items, sometimes displaying resource-guarding behaviors. His foster family has been helping him work on this, and with firm correction, Bubba understands when it’s time to share or his valued item is taken away. A structured environment with clear boundaries around his toys and feeding times helps him feel secure and balanced. When it comes to other dogs, Bubba does well with those close to his size, though he tends to assert himself at first. He likes to show he’s in charge but relaxes once his place in the pack is established. Bubba would do best in a home with a calm yet playful balanced submissive dog or as an only pet, where he can soak up all the attention without competition. Bubba’s high energy and playful personality make him better suited to a home without young children. His enthusiasm can be overwhelming, and he doesn’t fully understand his size, which might be too much for little ones. Bubba has shown that he can get stressed around high-energy children, and he may even try to “correct” their behavior with a gentle nip. A home with older, dog-savvy teenagers or no children would be ideal, allowing him to relax without the stress of too much movement and noise. A strong, confident leader is what Bubba needs to thrive. He’s intelligent and respects boundaries when he knows his human is in charge. His foster family has found that feeding him separately helps manage his resource guarding, and he does best with consistency around mealtime and playtime. Bubba follows commands well and responds to guidance from a firm but kind alpha figure.Bubba is experiencing a big transition and will need firm and consistent leadership in his adoptive home and one with French Bulldog experience would be best. As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs AND supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both he and they are kept safe.

Bubba is 100% potty trained without any accidents in his foster home and is always reliable to keep his crate free from accidents.  He continues to stay accident-free with a strict and routine outside schedule. It has helped him to have his furry friends for him to follow and mimic desired behaviors like going potty outside.. His adoptive family will need to be patient, willing, and able to keep him on a regular and consistent schedule for his continued potty-training success.  Bubba is crate-trained (without accidents) and although he isn’t a huge fan of his crate, he will begrudgingly go inside when bribed with a yummy snack. Since Bubba is a master snuggler, once he’s comfortable and his place in the pack is determined, we know he would love to share his human bed at night.  In his foster home, he has happily slept in his crate overnight. For his safety, we recommend a similar arrangement when his humans are away from the home and/or when he is left unsupervised, so he is safe and secure.

Medically, Bubba seems to be in great health! He has been neutered, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! Bubba does suffer from those pesky Frenchie allergies. He can have flare ups that can call for veterinary intervention.  Bubba receives a daily OTC allergy med and cytopoint injections during high allergy months.  He would greatly benefit from daily allergy maintenance like a wipe down of his body and folds in addition to regular baths to keep the allergens off his skin.

Bubba would do well in a home with a yard with an active family to keep him engaged. A house with a fully fenced yard will be preferred for him due to his overall love for being outdoors, as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard. A fence is required for Bubba as he does desire to run and play and if given the opportunity will jaunt right out the door.  He can be a “door pusher” and may bolt if given the chance, putting him in danger.  He is a CHAMP at stairs and ramps and is overall a very athletic Frenchie. He would not do well as an office dog due to his adversity to chaos and high energy settings and situations. Bubba will happily sleep part of the day away in his crate while his trusted human is away from the home.  A part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member as he desires human attention and affection over most things. Bubba is looking for a home where he can be the apple of his active family’s eye, one that has time for him and one that is willing to give him the firm and consistent guidance that he requires. With the right family, Bubba will be a loyal, loving, and fun companion. He has so much love to give and just needs a home that can match his energy and provide clear boundaries. Whether he’s your one-and-only or sharing the home with another calm dog, Bubba is ready to bring joy, laughter, and endless affection to his forever family. If you’re looking for a playful, spirited, funny, and affectionate pup who also knows how to snuggle, Bubba might be the perfect addition to your home

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
