Boggs’s Story

Boggs came into the SNAFU Rescue as a stray. A good samaritian wanted him to find a rescue and be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Boggs is a happy, friendly, and playful Frenchie who manages and adapts his energy level to those who are around him.  He can be playful, extremely curious, outgoing, super friendly (and a lazy) French Bulldog.  His excitement is front and center when his furry friends are ready to romp.  Boggs enjoys meandering around the house and exploring every inch of his surroundings.  Boggs has an affinity for the outdoors and often requests time outside to take in all the smells.  Most of his outdoor time is spent on walks or just exploring every inch of his fenced yard with his furry pals in tow.  He fancies jaunts around the neighborhood, stopping every so often to take in the new scenery and new people expecting every person who crosses his path to stop and pay him some much-desired attention.  After a perfectly suited walk for his size, Boggs will search for his beloved chew Nylabone and nibble away until he decides to snuggle up in any comfy spot he can find for a much-needed nap.  He very much likes his bone all to himself and is not one to share his prized possession.  Boggs will indicate that his Nylabone is not up for grabs.  Boggs will often look for his people to partake in a cuddle session during his snooze.  He truly just wants to be with his people all the time as he finds comfort in their presence.  After a much-needed nap, he is off to circle the house following his foster siblings around in hopes one of them will engage him in a wrestling session!   He is still learning personal space and because of his overall excited nature, he will jump and sit on anyone in his path!  His spirited nature is not always welcomed by more passive furry friends, but he redirects very quickly and nothing escalates and they can move on to something else very quickly.  Boggs is experiencing a big change and he requires a firm leader, and consistent correction to be properly guided into what is expected of him in his foster home.  He has a very kind temperament which is usually favorable when he is around other dogs.  Boggs seems to get along with any dog close to his size or smaller; although he has not spent much personal time with larger dogs, he does react to them in passing.  He has yet to meet any human, big or small, that he hasn’t fallen head over paws for.  He is very quick to warm up and loves any attention offered to him; Boggs quickly flirts his way into everyone’s heart.  Because of his lighthearted disposition, we feel Boggs will do perfectly well with other balanced dogs and with dog-savvy, gentle, respectful children 3 years or older.  He does tend to guard his prized possessions (bones) from other dogs but not humans.  This behavior must continue to be corrected.  We also feel Boggs would thrive in a multi-dog household with dogs equal to or smaller than him as he emulates other dog behaviors and picks up quickly on what is expected in the home and proper dog manners. Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and he should always be supervised to make sure both he and they are kept safe.

Boggs made fast progress and his foster family happily reports he is fully potty trained!  Consistent short walks (both a.m. and p.m.) have helped him master potty training so quickly!  Although, he did start marking when a young dog entered his foster home that behavior was quickly corrected (neutering did help).  As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be patient and willing to continue working on potty training as he acclimates to his new home and surroundings. Boggs requires a consistent outside routine and a signal for potty.  He is 100% crate-trained but treats his crate like a prison sentence.  He will sit backward in protest and treat his crate time like a punishment.  Boggs is seldomly crated as he is trusted in small dog-safe spaces in his foster home,  Boggs does sleep in a human bed in the evening and we know he would love to continue to share his cuddles with his new family; who can resist those big green eyes!!!

Medically, Boggs is in great health!  He has been neutered, nares widened, palate shortened, tonsils removed, and had a dental. microchipped, heartworm tested, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Boggs would do great in any type of home since he is a champ at going up and down the stairs and is leash-trained!  Since he does love to explore the yard and is still learning what can be a danger to him a house with a completely closed TALL fenced yard will be preferred for him (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling).  Boggs can JUMP very high, so he must have a taller fence in his adoptive home.  Although a fenced yard is not a requirement for Boggs at times he’d much rather spend time inside with his humans but must be secured with a leash and harness while outdoors and offered several short walks daily for exercise.  Since Boggs is quite a people’s French Bulldog, we think he would love to eventually go to work with his new family if they wanted to take him with them to the office. Because Boggs seems to match the energy level of his environment, a quiet office is preferred for him.  If his people are not able to take him to work with them, no problem at all – he’s completely happy sleeping part of the day away as long as he has a furry companion, a comfy bed, and a safe chew toy.  Boggs would much rather have a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member as he finds comfort in the presence of those he loves most.  Boggs is a little snuggle bug looking for a home that has several family members to dote on him and pet him, another equal-sized dog(s) to play with, one he can be included in most family outdoor activities, and can offer him extra love and attention. He really is just a silly hunky boy that is ready to share his love with his adoptive family!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
