Billie’s Story

Billie came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Billie is an active, playful, attention-seeking, social, energetic, AFFECTIONATE, outgoing, smart, and friendly Frenchie girl.  She has the most adorable wiggle in her tail when she is happy or excited; Billie really can get the nub moving!  She loves to do nothing more than hang out with her people and her furry foster brothers.  Billie has 2 speeds… 60mph or sleeping!  She loves romping around the house and exploring every inch of her surroundings ensuring she has not missed something new to her.  This curious girl is a master explorer as she recently has discovered the joy of a soft toy! Billie relishes her time outdoors running with the biggest most beautiful smile on her face.  She will patiently survey the perimeter of the fully fenced-in yard ever so gracefully weaving through the landscaping. She lights up like a Christmas tree when it is time to hang out in the yard. After running around in the cool grass, Billie will plop down in some shade or on the cool concrete and snooze away.  She will sneak away to sun her buns for a bit but will retreat to a much cooler space when getting too warm.  Billie loves romping around with her foster siblings whether in the house or the yard.  She is just a happy-go-lucky little lady!  After she has played her heart out she will settle into her soft bed or grab some space on a rug with her favorite bone.  She will nibble away until something else in the distance grabs her attention.  Billie will never turn down a Zoomie race in the yard.  If she still has some play energy but the others don’t, she is more than content to follow around her foster family and shadow every move they make.  After absolutely exhausting herself from endless play, Billie will always look for her people to partake in a cuddle session during her snooze or grab a comfy spot on the floor near their feet.  She is the definition of a “Velcro Frenchie” and truly just wants to be with her people all the time as she finds comfort in their presence and the attention she is offered.  After a much-needed nap, she is off circling the house following her foster siblings around, and begging for some yummy snacks.  Billie’s days start and end with run, play, snooze… wash rinse repeat!  Billie’s overall fun, rambunctious, happy disposition allows her to get along with every being she meets whether furry or human. Billie is still a young dog and she comes with many tendencies of a young pup. Billie lacks social boundaries and gets easily excited when affection is being offered.  She will VERY gently nibble at the hands that offer her affection as that is her way of saying “more please”.  She is easily redirected when her advances are too much; Billie is a very excitable pup.  She would benefit from some basic training to learn what is expected of her in the home. She doesn’t know danger and she should always be supervised as she acclimates to a new home.  She has a very lovable and fun temperament which is favorable when she is around other dogs.  Billie seems to get along with any dog but prefers those that are more playful and are close to her size.  She has yet to meet any human that she hasn’t fallen head over paws for.  Because of her lighthearted disposition, we feel Billie will do perfectly well with another dog her size or bigger.  She has not been kid-tested yet (she will be soon) but given her consistent gentle, kind personality, we believe she would be great with dog-savvy, gentle, and respectful children (she is still a young pup and can nibble on fingers and be in your face when attention is offered).  We also feel Billie would thrive in a multi-dog household as she emulates other dog behaviors and picks up quickly on what is expected in the home and proper dog manners. Billie displayed some misguided dominance when a new dog was brought into her living space (she had zero issues being brought into a new space with existing pups).  She showed some jealous-like behavior towards a puppy but quickly warmed up and accepted all the puppy antics thrown her way.  All of this unwanted behavior was easily corrected; Billie is very compliant and wants to please her people. One of her male foster brothers is an extreme alpha and Billie gets along famously with him!  Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and she should always be supervised to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Billie is 95% potty trained!  She is still perfecting her potty training skills but her foster family reports that if kept on a tight schedule, she remains 100% accident-free. As with all of our dogs, any adopter must be patient and willing to continue working on her potty training success as she acclimates to his new home and surroundings. She is still a young dog in need of a consistent outside routine and a signal for potty.  Billie is 100% crate trained.  She also is offered an X-pen to relax in.  Billie enjoys her quiet space and sleeps quietly without any accidents in both spaces.  She is a dream girl when it comes to being placed in a crate when her foster family happens to be away from the home. Billie does sleep in her crate in the evening but we know she would much rather share a bed and offer snuggles to her new family!

Medically, Billie is in great health! She has been spayed, nares widened, tonsils removed, palate shortened, had a dental cleaning, microchipped, heartworm tested, and updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!  She does suffer from those pesky Frenchie allergies.  They are kept at bay with a daily allergy pill, an allergy chew and daily paw wipes.  Billie would benefit from a cytopoint injection during high allergy months.

Billie would do great in any type of home!  She is a champ with the stairs and since she does love to explore the yard, and has a tendency to run and play, a house with a completely closed fenced yard will be preferred for her (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling).  Billie has not been leash trained as her breathing was so bad upon her arrival in rescue she was unable to be walked in the warmer weather.  She is leash adverse and is uncomfortable when leashed.  She will need work in this department!  Since Billie is quite a people’s Frenchie and does not bark at all, we think she would love to eventually go to work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office.  If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem at all – she’s completely happy sleeping at home for a few hours as long as she has a warm soft blanket, a furry friend, and her people can arrange for a potty break for her!  Billie enjoys a work-from-home atmosphere and would thrive if that was able to continue (even part-time).  She currently spends her days with her foster dad in his office being the very best office companion there ever was. Billie participates in zoom sessions, conference calls, and even in-person meetings.  Now that her breathing issues are fixed, she is super QUIET!  Billie is a fun little lady looking for a home that has a family to dote on her, can be included in most family outdoor activities, can offer her the attention she desires, an engaging furry friend to play with, lots of love and extra snacks. Billie is still a young dog that will require a little extra patience as she is guided into what is expected of her.  She is such a goofy little girl who will offer a family so much joy, love, and happiness.  Billie is the pawfect balance of active and chill and can acclimate to most any type of home dynmaics.  Be prepared to be smothered with love, affection, and kisses and Billie will offer an abundance!!!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Billie, please submit an adoption application for her.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
