Biggie’s Story

Biggie was surrendered to the SNAFU rescue to no fault of his own.  His family didn’t have the time to care for his needs and wanted him to find a loving home where he could be cherished and spoiled for the rest of his life.

Biggie is one with the couch; perhaps his best friend!  His domain is where he spends most of this mastering the art of lounging.  He can be a super relaxed, very chill, laid-back, a bit lazy, stubborn Bulldog that can lay on the couch all day on a lazy day that ends in “Y”.  While he may be a bit lazy, his affectionate nature shines through especially when snacks are involved.  He has “selective” hearing but responds well to signals for most basic commands like “sit, no and go potty”.  Biggie enjoys a short play session, displaying bursts of energy before returning to his favorite spot on the couch.  He is a Bulldog that adores his people more than anything; well maybe except the couch!!  Be ready for a dog who follows you around like your shadow (especially if you have food) because he just loves to hang out and be near his people at all times!   He desperately wants to please his people but is as stubborn as they come.  When Biggie isn’t glued to his beloved couch cushion,  you can find him exploring the yard, or sunning his cute buns outdoors.  After some time in the sun, he is looking for a comfy place on the couch to lay his head for one of his many naps throughout the day.   After a Bulldog-suited nap, Biggie is begging for pets, love, attention, and more attention!  If some attention is available, he will find his way to his favorite bone and settle in for a chew session.  Biggie adores his Nylabones and deer antlers.  Biggie has several furry foster siblings and he gets along wonderfully with them; he does not resource guard items from them.  He will engage in some play with them only to stop if he hears a snack wrapper in the background.  Biggie is truly the pawfect dog in his foster home however he doesn’t know his size or strength (not in a bad way at all).  He adores all humans (big or small) and given he is still a young boy, gets random bursts of energy his overall size (he is still growing) may be a bit too much for the littles.   He is learning to be a gentleman, learning to take direction, and making vast improvements every day!  Biggie is experiencing a big transition and will need firm leadership, patience, and consistent correction to help him learn proper dog behavior, learn proper dog manners, and know what is expected in his adoptive home.  He is still learning household rules, what he can and cannot pick up off the floor, and what is acceptable to eat.  Positive reinforcement and a lot of praise when positive behavior is present have worked wonders for Biggie!  As mentioned, he seems to get along well with every human he meets (big or small)!  Due to the above-mentioned puppy energy, his foster family believes he would be best in a home with calm, dog-savvy, gentle, children of 6 years or older.  Again, Biggie is GREAT with kids, but his size can be scary to younger kids.  He would do great in a home with other dogs or equally as well as an only pet.  As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs AND supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both he and they are kept safe.  Biggie is cat-friendly!

Biggie is 80% potty trained and making improvements daily. He responds well to “go potty” and will emulate the outside behaviors of his foster siblings.  His accidents are few and far between and would benefit from a signal for potty.  Any adopter must be willing to keep him on a consistent outside schedule.  He does well in his crate however he much prefers the couch versus a crate.  Biggie will sleep quietly in a crate when asked but cannot have any bedding in his crate or he will pee it.  We recommend that a crate arrangement is started for him until he can acclimate into his new home and then slowly be trusted outside his crate and then to his favorite spot; the couch.

Medically, BIggie seems to be in great health!  He has been neutered, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, nares widened, palate shortened, microchipped, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!  Due to those pesky Bulldog allergies, Biggie would benefit from a daily allergy pill and cytopoint injections during high-allergy months.  Biggie was reported to be deaf; he can hear loud sounds but does seem to have some trouble hearing regular talking volume words.  His foster family believes he could truly have selective hearing as he can hear squeaky toys and snack wrappers with no problem!

Biggie would do well in a home with a yard, a family that can spend a lot of time with him, has an outdoor space available to allow him to sun his buns, and is willing to have a dedicated spot on the couch just for him.  A house with a fenced yard will be preferred for him due to his love for the outdoors, and his need to sun his buns (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard).  We KNOW he’d make a GREAT office dog and requested that he attend an office and ever offer to be on the official greeting committee.  Cannot take him to the office?  That’s okay!  Biggie would much prefer a part-time or full-time stay-at-home or work-from-home family member.  He has a pretty chill nature and loves to nap the day away.   Biggie is looking for a home where he can be the apple of his family’s eye, one that has the time and commitment to nurture a young dog, one that allows him to attend most of the family’s adventures, and one where he has unlimited access to a couch that involves extra cuddles.  He is just about the sweetest, most fun boy with such a great personality looking for some extra TLC, guidance, and leaders. Biggie has such a goofy, loving personality that would fit into almost any home!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Biggie, please submit an adoption application for him today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
