Betty Boop’s Story

Betty Boop came into the SNAFU Rescue via breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled and live out her life as a cherished pet.

Betty Boop is a sweet, extremely laid-back, submissive lover of all humans (big and small) and dogs too!  This adorable Frenchie girl is an absolute love bug!  She has an overall mellow disposition.  Betty also has a playful side when the energy sparks for a good game of tug-o-war or a fun play session with her stuffed toy.  Betty Boop’s goal is to absolutely destroy the good ol’ stuffy!  This silly girl has a social side with a fondness for nap time.  Betty Boop is quick to warm up to new people (big, small, and furry) and can easily make new friends by flirting her way into their hearts and laps.  She absolutely adores receiving attention, cuddling with her human, and receiving pets and scratchies.  Betty adores all stuffed toys, especially those that are plush.  After a good romp around the house shaking her plush toy, you can find Betty Boop searching for her beloved Benebone and settling in for a quiet chew session.  After she tires of her bone, she will take a long snooze in her comfy bed when the household is quiet and settled.  Make one movement… Betty Boop is quick to jump up and follow around her favorite humans.  She definitely does not want to miss out on anything; a major case of FOMO.  She MUST be everywhere with her humans.  Betty Boop is a typical Frenchie girl… every day is play, nap, play, nap; wash-rinse-repeat!   She worships all known humans, pretty much anyone person or pup she can convince to provide her with enjoyment, attention, treats, and snuggles. She is well-behaved and respectful around humans and other dogs.  She will need a patient and understanding family to help guide her into proper dog behaviors and learn commands and what is expected of her in the home. Because she has a kind, gentle respectful disposition we feel she would do best in a home with children of any age that are dog savvy.  In addition, we feel Betty Boop would thrive in a home with a well-balanced, playful furry friend to show her the ropes of pet life as she mimics all dog behaviors.  As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and she should always be supervised to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Betty Boop is still working on potty training.  It is a work in progress however her foster family happily reports she is doing GREAT and she is 90% there!!  She has been consistently going potty outside and her accidents are VERY few and far between. A regular and consistent schedule will help with continued potty training in her new home.  As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with her.  She would benefit from a signal for potty.  Betty Boop is crate trained however she much prefers to be crated next to a furry friend to reduce her anxiety while crated.  She sleeps in her crate without any accidents when her foster family happens to be away from the home as long as she has several comfy blankets to snuggle up and nest in.  Since Betty Boop loves to snuggle so much, we know she would love a human bed to share in her adoptive home,

Medically, Betty Boop is in great health!   She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/deworming, heartworm tested, nares widened, had a dental with 2 extractions, microchipped and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!  She does have a low-grade luxating patella that does not require surgical intervention but should be monitored to ensure it is not causing her problems.  Betty Boop also came into rescue with an advanced ear infection.  It has cleared but her ears will need to be watched and cleaned more frequently so an infection doesn’t develop.

Betty Boop would do well in almost any type of home but since she is still perfecting potty training a fenced-in yard would be preferred for her but not required.  She is not a runner and usually stays close to her humans so as long as there is a good system in place for potty breaks, and walks with a harness, and a leash, a home without a fence would be okay for her.  Betty Boop is truly a pack animal and enjoys the love and playful attention of a family with another furry member to play with!   A bonus for her would be if she was welcomed into a family with several family members to offer her lots of cuddles, unlimited attention, and pets!  The more people who offer her love and lots of attention the happier Betty Boop is!  She would love to go to work with her new family if they wanted to take her to the office knowing she would be the office greeting committee and flirt her way into the hearts of all the employees.  If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem!  She would much rather have a work-from-home or stay-at-home parent as she really doesn’t like to be away from her people. Betty would also be a great candidate for events outside the home; local breweries, patios, wine bars, or even visiting schools, nursing homes, or children’s hospitals.

Betty Boop is very affectionate, adorably playful, and perfectly mellow.  She is a HUGE snuggle bug that is the definition of a Velcro dog. Anyone that meets Betty Boop instantly falls head over paws for her!  Betty Boop is still learning manners but with proper guidance, she will quickly adapt to a structured environment.  If you are looking for an addition to your family that needs and wants your family’s attention, love, and snuggles then Betty Boop just might be for you and your family!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
