Bean’s Story

Bean came into the SNAFU Rescue to no fault of his own. His prior owners wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Bean is the kind of Frenchie who brings the best of both worlds to a home—playful and active when it’s time for fun, but perfectly content to kick back and relax when the day winds down. He has an easygoing personality, a great sense of humor, and a wonderful ability to match the energy of the people around him. Whether you’re heading outside for a game of fetch, tug-of-war, settling into a movie marathon, or simply tackling your daily routine, Bean is happy to be right there by your side.

This handsome guy loves his toys and takes his playtime seriously. While he enjoys just about any toy he can get his paws on, his absolute favorites are his Frisbee and a good Benebone. Bean is always ready for a game in the yard, a playful romp with a canine friend, or a chance to show off his athletic side. Once he’s gotten his energy out, though, he’s more than happy to curl up for a nap and recharge for his next adventure.

Bean is a social dog who genuinely enjoys the company of people and other dogs. He has lived successfully with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a playful canine companion in his forever home. That said, he is also confident and independent enough to thrive as an only dog, provided he receives plenty of attention, enrichment, and quality time with his people. His adaptable nature allows him to fit into a variety of households, as long as his family understands and respects his boundaries.

One of Bean’s best qualities is that he is a smart boy who knows his commands and enjoys working with his humans. He listens well, responds to guidance, and appreciates consistency and structure. He isn’t the type of dog who is constantly looking for trouble—in fact, he tends to do very well when expectations are clear and introductions are handled thoughtfully.

While Bean has lived with children in the past, he has shown that he is not comfortable with introductions to new young children. During one interaction with a small child, Bean reacted by protecting his personal space. The situation did not escalate, but it made it clear that Bean is happiest when he doesn’t have to navigate the unpredictability that often comes with young children. For this reason, Bean is seeking a home with teenagers or older family members who can better understand and respect his boundaries.

Bean also benefits from slow, controlled introductions to new people and dogs. Once he has had a chance to assess a situation and become comfortable, he settles in nicely and shows his friendly, affectionate personality. Giving him the opportunity to meet newcomers at his own pace helps set everyone up for success and allows Bean’s confidence to shine. His ideal family will understand that not every dog wants to make instant friends and will appreciate that thoughtful introductions help him feel secure.

Because of his preference for personal space and predictable interactions, a home without cats would be preferred. Bean has not been cat tested, and we believe setting him up in an environment where expectations are clear will help him thrive.

Life with Bean is full of balance. One moment he’s racing after a Frisbee with enthusiasm, and the next he’s snoozing peacefully beside you while you work or relax. He’s affectionate without being overly demanding, playful without being overwhelming, and loyal without being clingy. He forms strong bonds with his people and genuinely enjoys being part of the family.

Bean is fully house trained and has proven himself to be an absolute gentleman in the home. He has had zero accidents and understands exactly where he is supposed to do his business. His excellent house manners make him an easy addition to a family looking for a dog who already has the basics mastered.

Bean is also crate trained, but if he had his choice, he’d much rather spend his evenings snuggled up with his people than tucked away in a kennel. While he understands the crate routine and can be kenneled when needed, this affectionate boy truly thrives when he’s able to be close to his family. After all, why sleep alone when there are humans to cuddle with?  Bean is trusted in a small sog-safe space in his foster home and enjoys it much more than a crate!

One of Bean’s most endearing qualities is just how loving and devoted he is. Beneath his playful side is a total cuddle bug who adores quality time with his people. Whether he’s stretched out beside you on the couch, curled up at your feet while you work, or tucked in next to you at bedtime, Bean is happiest when he’s sharing life’s quiet moments with the people he loves most.

Bean is an incredibly well-trained dog who knows his commands, listens well, and takes direction beautifully. He has the kind of maturity and good manners that make everyday life easy and enjoyable. His future family won’t be starting from scratch—they’ll be welcoming home a dog who already understands household expectations and is eager to be a loyal companion.

To help Bean continue thriving, his adoptive family should provide the same consistency, structure, and affection that he has come to enjoy. Most importantly, he’ll be looking for a home where he can be included as part of the family and soak up all the love, attention, and snuggles he deserves. Medically, Bean seems to be in great health.  He has been neutered, had two benign growths removed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, and has been given the okay for adoption by our veterinarian!  He does suffer from those pesky Frenchie Seasonal allergies.  He will benefit from routine maintenance in addition to a daily OTC allergy med to keep his allergies at bay.  

Bean is the total package—handsome, intelligent, affectionate, and ready to become someone’s very best friend. He has the perfect balance of playful energy and laid-back charm, making him an easy companion for a variety of lifestyles.

While Bean can adapt to almost any home environment, a securely fenced yard is a must for his ongoing safety. This adventurous boy has no hesitation about slipping through an open door if given the opportunity, and once he decides to explore, he’ll be off on his own mission. A fenced yard will allow him to safely enjoy outdoor time, play Frisbee, stretch his legs, and soak up all the sights and smells he loves without putting himself at risk.

Bean has mastered stairs with ease and confidently navigates all areas of the home. While he’s generally a well-mannered guy, he isn’t afraid to use his voice when he has something to say. Because he can be vocal from time to time, a shared-wall living situation such as an apartment, duplex, or townhome would not be ideal. A single-family home where he can express his opinions without worrying about nearby neighbors would be his perfect setup.

This people-loving Frenchie thrives on companionship and is happiest when he’s included in daily life. Bean is accustomed to having people around much of the time and would do best in a home where he isn’t left alone for long stretches. A part-time or full-time work-from-home adopter, stay-at-home parent, retiree, or someone with a flexible schedule would be the icing on the cake for this social boy. He simply loves being near his humans, whether that’s supervising household chores, lounging nearby while you work, or joining you for a relaxing evening on the couch.

At night, Bean’s favorite place to be is close to his people. He would happily sleep snuggled up in bed with his family, but he’s also perfectly content curling up in a dog bed beside his humans if that’s the household preference. Either way, being near his favorite people is what matters most to him.

Bean would thrive in a home with teenagers or older children who can understand and respect his boundaries. While he enjoys the company of people, he has shown that young children are not the right fit for him. His ideal family will provide thoughtful introductions and help set him up for success when meeting new people.

Although Bean would be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog, his dream home may include one friendly canine companion to play, socialize, and share adventures with. He genuinely enjoys other dogs and would love having a buddy to romp around the yard with before settling in for a well-earned nap.

One of Bean’s many charms is how well-trained he is. He already knows commands such as “sit” and “shake,” listens attentively, and genuinely enjoys engaging with his people. He’s eager to please, quick to learn, and has the kind of manners that make him a joy to live with.
